Bárðarbunga, Iceland by Zach Tyler on Flickr.
September 2014
Hjörleifshöfði is a 221 m-high inselberg in southern Iceland. It consists of palagonite. The mountain is located on the Mýrdalssandur outwash plain about 15 km east of Vík í Mýrdal, and was an island in the Atlantic Ocean.

Stakkholtsgjá Canyon is a beautiful natural wonder near Þórsmörk in the Icelandic Highland. From the entrance of the canyon, it is surrounded by high and straight one hundred meters high palagonite cliffs.
Once inside the canyon you will experience a remarkable peace that embraces your thoughts. It is an exotic place as the canyon narrows, and you approach the bottom, turning into a very high cave open at the top, at the end of your track. In the cave, the water falls like a dreamlike shower with both light and drizzle falling on your face as you look up
Flatey island, located in Breidafjordur bay on the northwestern part of Iceland is a tiny island.
This remote little island has only one dusty road leading from the ferry dock through the so called old village. The old village consists of several beautifully kept old and restored houses in cheerful colours. The atmosphere in Flatey is very relaxed and everything is very quiet and tranquil
