   “Why on this god forsaken earth would you send me to Hoenn? And via cruise when I am perfectly capable of going there in the blink of an eye just by opening one of my tears? Dialga, are you getting that forgetful in your old age?” The man commented, folding his arms across his chest in an attempt to ignore the the comment about ‘thanking her’ and ‘being family.

“Forgetful!?” Dialga huffed and crossed her arms, glaring at him. Here she was trying to do something nice and as always, he had to say something rude about it. Granted, it still was a prank but it was a nice prank. A prank she had carefully thought out with her brother’s sometimes intimidating personality in mind. “It’s about seeing the sights, getting some sun, enjoying the great weather! Being able to warp yourself from point a to point b sounds a bit boring, which you are full of. So this is my loving attempt to brighten that passive personality of yours!”

“’I’m a deity and I’d like to tell you that it’s a century too early for you to be questioning my authority’ would be so cool for my opening line. Don’t you think?”

   Palkia took a step back as she leant in to make sure he couldn’t see the paper. “I am not good with ‘people’. I tolerate them at best, but I will not go out of my way to make them happy.” So the answer was no, therefore lying was going to be needed. For whatever she had planned for her workaholic brother.

“You haven’t changed much since I’ve last seen you,” she said as she continued writing. Too studious, not a people person... with that kind of reputation, he was sure to win this. She scanned over the form; almost all of it was complete. “Great! Now, I just need to add this and... we’re done!” She neatly folded the paper and waved it in front of her brother’s face.

“I lied about the ‘no fun’ complaint form! It’s actually your ticket for an all expenses paid cruise from here to Hoenn! No need to thank me; it’s all part of being a family.” It was actually full of gibberish but he didn’t need to know that. Not yet, anyway. He’s just needed to buy this little lie and phase one of her plan would be complete.

   Curiosity sparked in the mans eyes as he watched the female, taking a couple of steps closer to her, aiming to glance over her shoulder to see the form. “What are you really doing Dialga?”

“Like I said, filling out the ‘no fun’ complaint form!” She leaned over the paper so that he wouldn’t be able to see. “Now, would you say that you’re good with people? Comfortable to be around? You can lie and say ‘yes’ if the answer’s ‘no’.”

   “My best….That I get my work done diligently and to a high quality. What are you filling out this time Dialga?”

“I’m filling out the ‘no fun allowed’ complaint paper to file to my fun department. Hmm... can we make that into one word? Studious? Meticulous? Yeah, studious sounds like it’ll fit.”

“Did’ja really? I mean I can definitely believe gettin’ a bunch’a something all at once, but solvin’ that many already?”

                            Someone would have to be a genius or something to be able to complete so many puzzles in so little time! Jirachi swung his legs a bit from his spot seated on the edge of a low stone ledge, the backs of his heels butting against the old wall. Whether it was true or not, he was certainly enjoying her storytelling.

“Hey, doc! Y’think I could do one’a those puzzles sometime once you’re all done with ‘em? Never did one before but the way you talk about it it sounds like it’d be a swell time.”

“I know, right? I’ve been doing these for such a long time, mostly for fun as well as to keep me sharp.That’s just one of the many things I’m proud about in my lifetime! ” Not to brag or anything, but she was sure her puzzle solving skills were unmatched at the moment. She had practiced every single day for the past century or two, so yeah, she was pretty confident about that fact.

A triumphant grin grew across her face as she gave a firm nod in her listener’s direction. She was helping people all across the world to realize the joy of puzzling. Actually, this was the first person she had gotten interested in the hobby, but she was in no rush. “I’ll leave a few of them blank just for you! They’re kinda hard to get at first but I’m sure you’ll be a pro in no time.”

                            Time… Jumping? Normally he wouldn’t even bother pretending to care for whatever some stranger had to say, but the phrase admittedly piqued his interest. It couldn’t mean literal time travelling, of course - that was just illogical. There was simply no data on it banked within his systems, and therefore it could not possibly exist. The idea though…

                            [ … That would depend. What sort of item was it and where was it left? ]

                            … Made him curious enough to want to respond. Blast it all.

“Well, maybe it was a book. Or two. Or more. A certain number of books about stuff that technically hasn’t been invented yet left in a time period where technology is extremely primitive. Nothing too major, I’d say.” It wasn’t like they could read all those symbols and complicated text, anyway. The words in there were way beyond what they were reading and writing back then. Then realizing that they might think she had done it, she quickly added, “I didn’t do it, by the way. I’m... asking... for a friend!”

A mental sigh of relief. However, he felt bad for the unsuspecting victim to receive Dialga’s pile of books.

❝I’ve been good. Some time hopping to skip past cold days. Brought a human boy back to his time in the past. He sorta grabbed hold onto me while I was trying to time travel as a means to escape, but I made sure to bring him back to his own time.❞

Not to mention, he got caught in a ball and died in the process, but everything was fixed though. Nothing to worry about or worth mentioning.

He asked, looking down at the pile of books again.

“Sounds fun! He must’ve had the shock of his life when he suddenly was in a different time!” It was rare for something to like to that happen, but it was good that the situation was dealt with accordingly. Interfering with people in different times was always far too messy for her liking. Rub a guy the wrong way and next you could have a rampaging tyrant on your hands. 

“I’ve been the same. Taking my time and all that, practicing my puzzles. Jumping into the past to go sightseeing again and thinking up new ways to get cash. Apparently, telling people that ‘the ruler of time doesn’t need to pay’ gets you booted out of stores pretty quick.”

‘That’s not quite as comforting as I’d like, but okay.’ Alternate dimension? Now she was curious. ‘Wait- can I choose where I go back to? That would be great, even if it wasn’t for long.’ Worry creased her forehead, but, no, she wasn’t scared. Even though it had suddenly occurred to her that this might be a much higher tier legendary than herself, and that caution should be exersized, she seemed friendly enough. And, besides, one glimpse at ancient Unova and enough money to make her almost not broke was worth it.

“Don’t worry, don’t worry! I’m an expert in time travel. Besides Celebi, of course but I’m sure nothing bad will happen. Maybe something uncomfortable, but that’s a given for someone’s first time travel.” Words could only do so much to lighten up her worry but it was worth a shot. She would admit that it was a bit disconcerting to find yourself in a different era, even with a warning, especially if the destination was way back in the past. Even she got a headache when she traveled many centuries into the past. More from how embarrassing she was but it was practically the same thing.

“Yeah sure! Since you’re my partner and willing volunteer, I’ll give you a free ticket to any time you want!”

sloth: a headcanon about something your character hates to do or simply hates in general

Dialga cannot stand being busy or her schedule being too full. She definitely doesn’t follow a set schedule either because she feels they are too restrictive for her liking. Because of this, her schedule is all over the place. The only stable thing she does every day is solve puzzles.

Her mental strength, helped by her daily puzzle solving. This helps Dialga a lot because bending time takes a lot of concentration, something she has honed over the centuries. Also her super puzzle solving skills which are practically unmatched.

   [♞] - “A rip in time,” they echo. Okay, that didn’t answer anything. Despite sounding a little skeptical - if only for how little they understood - they were genuinely curious. “How does that even happen? Time just - snap, pops open, or what? There’s gotta be something to trigger that.”

Either way, I’m good.’ The chance to see ancient Unova one more time or the chance to freak strangers out and take their money- either way, it seemed like a win-win situation. ‘Continue.’

“More like the one I’ll be sending back. Volunteers are pretty hard to come by when you live in a separate dimension and all.” There was the also the fact that she was sure no one would appreciate if she kinda pushed their head into a rip of time unannounced and then asked how they liked it afterwards. She had even considered that but decided it wasn’t worth the complaints that were sure to follow. “Now, when I do this, I’m only gonna make you poke your head through. If nothing too drastic happens, we’ll try with your whole body.”

The time traveler looked down at the pile of books, each much too thick for his liking. Looking back up at the God of Time, he was unsure of how to politely say he didn’t want them.

❝Thanks, but uh… I don’t have a place for them in my forest. I’m pretty sure I can’t even hold them all…❞

I could always dump them in some unsuspecting person’s home some time later.” She wasn’t going to pick up the books just yet; she had been lugging them around for a long period of time and her arms were beginning to feel achy. Dialga did, however, nudge the books closer to her own feet. 

“So, how have you been lately? Do any traveling in time that I have not seen you?”

She dumped a pile of books at the person’s feet and wiped her hands on her shirt.

“I already completed the puzzles in the back so I’m giving these to you. I have no idea what they are about, but it seems fun!”

“Glad you accept. Now, I know that people will pay big bucks to see other time periods in person. I also know that people think going back in time isn’t possible. So, I came up with the perfect plan to sell short trips into any previous time period. And by short, I mean like a minute or so. Pretty good so far, right?”
