Having recently been announced to DJ at electronic mecca Bloc in March - an unmissable prospect in itself - snooker legend Steve Davis chats to Loreana Rushe about his deep, decades-spanning love of collecting and discovering music and swapping the snooker table for decks for the century break of his life. Hi Steve! It's brilliant…
We’ve known Steve was a fan since he featured us on his radio show and headed down to rave it up at the release party for our Noments 12″ on The Quietus Phonographic Corporation. Thanks to Steve for putting us in his playlist of his favourite recent tunes (alongside the likes of Oneohtrix Point Never, Surgeon, Holly Herndon, Vakula and Prefuse 73) as he talks to The Thin Air website about the reasons behind why he’s been booked for Bloc.
Out now!
Sounding a bit like the intersection between Rhythm & Sound and Minimal Wave, 'Made In Time' is fast-paced analogue techno with dub flair, moving forward with a slow/fast rhythm that throbs away hypnotically with minimal-like restraint. The resulting pulse serves as canvas for sparsely placed and vastly spacious sonic events, all of this improvised in long hours of jam sessions meticulously recorded without exception. This EP was compiled by Photonz from a generous pool of session recordings sent by the guys during a period of 2 years between 2012 and 2014.
Thanks to the following for the +++ words about the release: Philip Sherburne, Factory Floor, Passarella Death Squad, Truss, Bintus J. Tijn,Worker/parasite, Sim Hutchins

This is what it looked like (actually tho) when we played at the ICA for Zhang Ding’s Enter The Dragon installation in association with NTS Radio and Frieze Art Fair.
Thanks to Hypnotic Groove for asking us to contribute to their excellent mix series, had a lot of fun with this one!
Our show at the ICA on Thursday 15th October sold out earlier today, but they’ve just added some extra tickets so please be quick if you’d like to see us perform with Casual Sect, improvising in reaction to Zhang Ding’s Enter The Dragon installation. Massive thanks to The Guardian Guide, Leeds List, Time Out, Dial Mag, The Quietus and Fact Magazine for helping to spread the word about the clubnight we organise with our friends DJ Skunkrock and DJ Ford Foster. SECT was a big success and raised a really solid sum to donate to Shelter to support their essential work with the homeless. Visit www.sect.xyz to keep up to date with the total and future events.
Friday, 06 November 2015 - London
Stoked to be playing this massive lineup alongside Ancient Methods, Objekt, Paula Temple and Dronelock on the Plex stage!
The week's best free mixes include Objekt at Freerotation 2015, sunshine bangers from Call Super and a primer on Italian avant-progressive music.
Woah, did not expect to see this! Fact Mag have put our Electronic Explorations mix in their mixes of the week, alongside Objekt at Freerotation, Jon Dale's Italian avant-prog mix for Frozen Reeds, Call Super at Dekmantel, Jane Fitz at Freerotation and Matthew Herbert's Essential Mix.
“We’re primarily live musicians, rather than DJ’s. We initially thought of playing out the mix as a live improvisation, but since we’ve got a lot of new music about to be released and finally starting to play some live shows out and about, we instead decided that it’s a rare occasion for us to share some of the music we …
Seriously flattered to be allowed near the hallowed lands of Electronic Explorations!

OOOOOF! It's CHRONONAUTZ! The latest artist we're releasing on The Quietus Phonographic Corporation... time for a right grubby rave-up. Pic by Alicja Debicka
Really beyond happy to announce our first 12″ album due on The Quietus Phonographic Corporation on July 17th. Digital includes remixes by Bleaching Agent and Photonz

Sunday 24th May is Bradford Threadfest, and Monday 25th May is at Outlaws Yacht Club in Leeds where we will perform with the Rick Holland who has previously collaborated with the likes of Brian Eno and Jon Hopkins. Wyndham Wallace will also be reading from his new book about his time with Lee Hazlewood ‘Lee Myself and I’ at the Leeds show. Links to information about all shows are at the bottom of theQuietus article.
Really feeling quite honoured to be guests on the Plex end of year radio show on Sub FM tonight, considering all the incredible acts to have graced (or disgraced, in the case of Blacknecks) their stage this year. Join us with your host with the most, DJ Skunkrock, broadcasting live from Leon's garden shed (!) from 10pm to midnight this evening, playing some favourites from the year almost passed, and some things we're anticipating excitedly for next.
