“Does this look silly?” Toph asked, spinning around in a new kimono.

Mai looked at the blind girl in adoration, a single fluffy bunny ear twitched as it registered her voice. “Not at all deary! You look beautiful!”

Toph smiled, a small redness appearing across her cheeks. “Thanks,” she stated simply. She was going to go to the fair, regardless if her ‘date’ was going or not.

“Not a problem, though, why exactly are you dressed so fancy? Whose the lucky person?” Mai grinned as she looked the other over.

“A family friend!” she said quickly, trying to hide the nervousness that showed she was lying. The person was a man she’d bumped into whilst on her way to town. He sounded convincing enough that he wanted to go... Toph hoped she didn’t just waste money.

"Hey!" Toph shouted as she bumped into the scarlet haired female. "Watch where you're going!"

“Says the person who cannot see!” The redhead replied with a grunt, having already caught her stance the moment they made contact.

“What brings you out here?” Might as well ask… since she was probably going to say something soon.

“This really is not somewhere you see… or sense Earthbenders wandering about.”

She shrugs. “I don’t even know where I am.” Toph ironically scans her surroundings. “I don’t recognize any of this.”

“Well… the rock here is unusually dense… so I can understand that reaction.” She answered… pulling the same trick with the hand to widen her view for a time.

“The term used for this type of stone is metamorphic. It’s rock that is made so compressed that it becomes something else entirely. Although considering, I really doubt most earthbenders poke around dark places like this…”

Toph scoffs as she kicks the ground, sending a pillar of stone a few feet behind her. “Rock is still rock,” she said sassily, before stomping again, sending the rock back down.

“Well… it is still rock, but… it is very hard for you to see anything without strong senses or the ability to reach out into your surroundings.” She remarked, referring to that strange effect that was feeling out for Toph to see at that time.

“Although I could understand if this place is used as a training ground. It takes more work to move than typical stone.”

“So does metal, and I have a pretty easy time bending that, now.” Tophs hardheadedness will probably get her hurt one day. Maybe.

“I have been on the ground the entire time, but I will have to say… The ground here does make for a poor conductor of vibrations.” The female voice replied with a huff. “Which would wreak havoc with abilities like yours.”

“Do you know me?” Toph asked, raising an eyebrow while rubbing the sole of her foot on the ground, annoyed at its properties.

“I doubt it, but I do know you.” She remarked, contemplating altering the hardened rock a little so the girl could see further for a moment.

“Would it be better if we introduced ourselves more formally?”

“Yeah,” she said. “I guess. My name’s Toph. Toph Bei Fong.” She extended her hand so the other may shake it.

“And mine is Evelyn… Evelyn Lancaster.” She carefully reached out and shook it gently, giving her a small sense of her appearance through similar vibrations for a short second. “Nice to meet you Toph Bei Fong.”

Seeing her figure through the viberations, she jerked her hand back. She’s gorgeous… Toph thought. Regardless, she smiled. “You too, Evelyn.”
