HOST:
Genesis! Welcome! I'm incredibly happy to have you here, and I'm sure your fans are too. So, last week you set the Internet ablaze with the end of your one-day tour. And we've all been dying to know, after hiding them for so long, what, exactly, made you reveal your wings?
GENESIS:
Hi! I'm so happy to be here as well!
Well, to be honest, hiding my wings had been bothering me for some time. It felt like I wasn't truly being myself. But recently, more and more mutated angels like me have been speaking out, and I think that was what really gave me the confidence to do it.
HOST:
And, well excuse me, but why go about it so secretly? I mean, I'm all for being true to yourself, but you certainly scared a lot of fans when your team rushed you off stage like that!
GENESIS:
Well... <GENESIS SIGHS> This is embarassing. But, well, I basically thought talking through the reveal with my team and my auntie Angie, who's my manager by the way, would probably take a long time, and a lot of planning, and a break probably, and I didn't want to disappear so soon after just coming back.
HOST:
Oh, I see. <HOST CHUCKLES> Well I think your fans would agree! I already saw some speculation about you possibly going on a hiatus again. They must be quite relieved now!
On another note, and I hope this isn't too intrusive but -- Why did you decide to hide your wings in the first place?
GENESIS:
Look...hiding my wings was a decision I made when I first started out. I was like, what, fourteen? And you get insecure at that age! Not to mention how much worse the prejudice was against mutations two to three years ago.
HOST:
Oh yes, yes I know. But I don't know, you've always seemed very brave to me, coming out, performing in front of a crowd as a teen...
GENESIS:
My wings have always been a bit of an insecurity for me. I've never had an issue with stage fright, and I lived in a pretty LGBTQ+ supporting area, so those things just didn't scare me as much.
HOST:
Well, I guess that's reasonable. And what about the rebrand? Did you plan it to coincide with your wing reveal? How long was this planned ago?
GENESIS:
Oh, we've been planning this rebrand for a long time. <GENESIS LAUGHS> As much as I insisted it wasn't when I was a teen, I'm afraid it was just a phase. I haven't "felt" goth since a year or so, really.
And that's okay! People change! They evolve! Just because something was a phase doesn't mean it wasn't important for my artistic journey. And if I ever get disinterested in what I'm doing again, I can always change things up again.
And yeah, I knew the rebrand was coming up when I was planning to reveal my wings. I knew we were getting close to it, so I suggested the one day-tour as a chance for me to reveal them. Without anyone knowing, of course. That deadline of sorts was one of the reasons why the reveal was so rushed. And by that I mean, uhm, why I rushed it. <GENESIS CHUCKLES AWKWARDLY>
