A lot of artists keep getting upset that people aren’t reblogging their stuff, and while it’s understandable, it’s frustrating to watch from the perspective of a blog that is trying to be accessible.

The second I started only posting things with image descriptions (almost all of which are my own) I had to essentially stop reblogging fanart altogether. None of it is described! And it takes a lot of time and energy for me to describe something that complex.

For a sense of what I mean:

It takes about a minute for me to describe screenshots of text

It takes about 3 minutes for me to describe a very simple reaction image or gif

It takes 5-10 minutes for me to describe a meme

It takes 30 minutes or longer for me to describe a single piece of artwork, including fanart

And on top of that, I’m not the original artist! So oftentimes I have no clue what I should and shouldn’t be pointing out. Is this detail something I should describe? I have no idea!

So please, please, if you want accessible blogs to consistently reblog your art, add an image description! You know your own art better than I do!
