My forever-unpopular opinion is that if readers enjoy a piece of writing, then the writing should be considered good. Is it technically proficient? Who cares! It brought joy into someone’s life, and that’s honestly the best thing someone can hope to do.
Giving your MC a pet seems like such a cute idea in high fantasy settings, and I challenge authors to think about ways to actually integrate that into the plot. What if instead of having to leave the dog with one of the MC’s friend, the dog is actually trained to participate in fantasy adventures? I’ve seen videos of dogs surfing. That has to be a transferable skill to dragon-riding.

Something new! I've had this WIP sitting for a while, and it's definitely time to bring it out. There's 80 some-odd chapters, each titled with a different plant. I've been having a blast doing plant studies while I edit, so, ya know, exciting stuff coming!
