Carer who accidentally raises their voice at their kiddo.
They didn’t mean to. They would never mean to. But they were stressed out and kiddo had spilled something, typically not a big deal. But today they reacted without thinking, sending their little one running out of the room and looking for a place to hide. They find them eventually, camped out in a pillow fort they made together the night before, curled up and sniffling softly.
“Hey little love.” Carer whispers, inching closer and placing a soft hand on their arm. “I didn’t mean to yell at you. You’re so small when you’re like this, I know you didn’t mean it.”
No answer. Just more sniffles and soft whines.
“I’m really sorry, bug. Everyone makes mistakes, I made one by yelling. Please forgive me? I know you don’t like loud voices.” They’re pleading at this point, their heart breaking watching their tiny cry and knowing it’s their fault.
It takes a few minutes but eventually their kiddo is in their lap, sucking on a paci and wiping their eyes on carer’s shirt.
“I don’t like when you yell…”it’s muffled by the pacifier but still audible. “I didn’t mean to knock it over.”
“I know. It’s okay, I cleaned it up. It was an easy clean up. This one is much harder though. How can I make it up to you hm?”
Little thinks for a minute before looking up with big wet eyes.
“Will you watch a show with me? I know you’re…umm…stressed? So maybe…maybe you can come relax with me?”
Carer smiles, kissing their head.
“That’s a good idea, bug. Cmon let’s go wind down together.”
Because even carers aren’t perfect and sometimes mess up. And that’s okay! They don’t need to be perfect. They just need to be there!!
