A phantom memory huh
this is your daily reminder to write that fic! who cares if itâs a dying fandom, bring it back to life! who cares if you only have a sentence, youâll get there donât give up! who cares if itâs a self indulgent fic, we love to see it! who cares if itâs an overdone trope, youâre making it unique in your writing style! who cares if it takes you a month to write a fic and then you dip, youâre still writing and sharing your work and thatâs what matters! who cares if you write for yourself and never post it, youâre still writing and getting your ideas down and that matters just as much as if you posted it! just keep writing, you got this <3
that 141 x reader you just did was so good! i need to know what happens next. like after reader is better, do they stay in the military? stay in 141? or do they take a discharge? Iâm not the original ask but it was just so good.
love your writing btw!
thank you! hereâs part two :)
part one here!
you were beginning to hate the infirmary.
the white walls. the moans of pain. the smell of bleach and blood.
the reminder of why you were here. of who put you here.
your friends. your family. your team. john. johnny. kyle. simon.
youâd told the doctor to not let your teammates in, and she had tried, but there was only so much she could do. she couldnât monitor the door all the time, and so a week after waking up from your coma, john price is sitting at your beside once again.
his hands are clasped together, knuckles white with the intensity of his grip. heâs leaning forward, elbows resting on the bed, hands under his chin. his position conveys his regret and worry. he looks like he should be in church, knelt between the pews and spewing silent prayers to a god that isnât listening.
you havenât spoken to him since he sat down ten minutes ago. the second you saw him step inside the infirmary, you knew he was there for you. there to try and speak to you, to apologize.
fuck him and his apologies.
you turned your head to the side, eyes staring at the white curtain separating your bed from the next. you studied the stitching while you listened to him breathe next to you. he hadnât spoken eitherâ just sat down and watched you.
it made your skin crawl, how he thought this was okay. how he thought this would be the way to get back into your good graces.
he clears his throat then, a sound youâve heard a million times before. it makes you want to gag now.
âlove,â his voice is soft, caring. you want to hit him in the jaw.
âcan we talk? please?â
you donât turn over, donât even spare him a glance. you keep your gaze trained on the curtain. the only giveaway that he has your attention is the fists you clench at your sides.
he takes the silence as an invitation, that bastard.
âwhat happenedââ he begins, then grunts. stops. takes a second, then begins again.
âwhat we did,â he says, and you roll your eyes. âit wasnât right. the intel was from a trusted source. weââ he sighs then, and you can tell heâs rubbing his temple. he did that when he was stressed. when he was anxious.
âwe were wrong to believe them over you, love. and imâ im sorry.â
silence ensues. you donât give him any indication that youâve heard what he said. he sighs again, inhaling deeply.
âyouâre still part of this team. johnny and gaz, theyâve been sitting outside this damn room like sentries. can barely pry âem away for drills.â he chuckles then, but itâs sad. pitiful. mournful.
âthereâs nothing we can do to make this right,â he tells you. youâre still mulling over what he said about johnny and gaz. still hung up on the fact that he didnât mention simon at all.
simon, who did the most damage to you, both psychologically and physically. simon, who shared your bed. simon.
simon, who is too much of a coward to face you for his crimes.
âbut we want to try,â price is speaking again. âif youâll let us.â
he stops talking. waits a beat, then two. then, you hear his chair scrape. heâs getting up, and thatâs when you turn your head to face him.
he looks bad. bags under the eyes, skin pale, beard overgrown. you think he deserves this. deserves worse than this. his eyes meet yours, and they widen the tiniest bit at the attention youâre showing him.
your voice is full of venom as you speak.
ânothing,â you seethe, angry tears blurring your vision. âwill ever undo what you did to me. what he did to me.â
price knows youâre talking about simon. the whole team knew you were a thing. hell, when theyâd strapped you to that chair and debated who would âinterrogateâ you, they hadnât even thought to include simon. why would he want to torture the person he loved?
to their surprise, he had volunteered to take point.
âwhen i get out of this bed,â you continue. âim gone. and i never, never, want to see any of you again, or else im putting a fucking bullet between your eyes.â
the captain doesnât speak. you can see the remorse on his face. you couldnât care less about his feelings.
he gives a short nod, and without another word, he turns and leaves the room.
after johnâs visit, no one else tries to visit you. you no longer catch glimpses of kyle or johnny outside the infirmary door. youâre glad theyâre starting to get the hint.
but youâre still getting flowers. you donât know where theyâre coming from. sometimes theyâre dropped off by a nurse, other times they appear in the morning after a restless sleep. thereâs never a note. never anything to suggest who would be leaving them.
you know itâs one of the 141, but you donât know exactly who. you feel certain itâs not simon.
but, unbeknownst to you, it is him. he knows you donât want to see himâ to see any of them. price had told them all about what youâd said to him during your talk.
price had also told them that heâd already started preparing your transfer papers. that had caused an uproar from soap, whoâd quickly been quieted by a saddened price.
simon had expected it. expected worse, actually. he knew that if the roles had been reversed, he wouldnât have been as merciful as you. it made him hate what theyâd done to you so much more.
there had been the tiniest doubt in his mind when all the evidence pointed to you. he hadnât believed it at firstâ and then things became damning. everything pointed to you. trusted sources were pointing their fingers at you, and everyone listened. he had listened.
he had volunteered to torture you because heâd been angry. rage he hadnât felt in years bubbled to the surface of his skin, and he wanted to tear you limb from limb. how dare you come into their livesâ his lifeâ and betray them so substantially?
simon didnât trust easily. he was battered and broken and scarred. shattered and malformed pieces hastily glued back together. he let the team in. let you in. let you see his face. let you into his bed. let you into his fucking heart.
and you turned around and drove a dagger into him. or so he thought.
he thought his anger and actions had been justified. thought he was doing the world a favor by butchering you. but he was wrong. the team was wrong.
he finds himself regretting how he hadnât listened to your pleas, but thereâs nothing he can do about it now.
he knows the chances of you forgiving him, of letting him back into your life, are slim to none. but how could he not at least try?
youâd know each other for years. been together for years. all of it thrown away because he still knew the hurt of betrayal all too well. because it was too easy to fall back into the mindset that it was him against everyone. that the only person he knew, the only one he could rely on, was himself.
so he left flowers. your favorite ones. and he did so without making you face him, without apologizing or groveling. it was the least he owed you.
a month after your coma, you were finally allowed out of the infirmary. you were still healing, skin still tender and bruised. pink, jagged scars lining your skin; eternal reminders of the pain youâd been subjected to.
youâd been given a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, which youâd pulled on with much fuss. every time you struggled or stumbled, you found yourself getting angry. angry at the men who did this to you.
the anger was going to eat you alive, at least thatâs what the psychologist that had been dropping by to see you had said. sheâd told you you need to let it go, and youâd laughed in her face.
how do you let something like this go?
you didnât know. you didnât think you were strong enough to do that. not a good enough person to forgive the men that had carved into you.
once you had dressed, you shuffled out into the hallway. youâd profusely denied an escort, and the doctor had reluctantly acquiesced. sheâd let you go, with just the promise that youâd keep your iv hooked in.
so here you were, trudging down the halls of the base, iv pole rattling along behind you.
you could feel eyes on you, but no one dared to get too close. you were glad. you didnât want more empty apologies and sympathetic words.
you still remembered the way to priceâs office like the back of your hand. you doubted youâd ever forget it.
time and time again youâd found yourself here. sometimes, getting reprimanded. others, congratulated. a few times youâd shown up in tears, and price had let you in without a word.
now you were standing outside his door, trying to contain the rage in your veins.
you raised a hand. knocked once, firm and loud.
âcome in!â price called from inside.
you were already twisting the door knob, pushing into the room.
your eyes found price first. he was leaning against his desk, arms crossed over his chest. his hat was absent from his head, instead resting beside him on the desk.
and then you noticed simon.
he was wearing all black. his hands were covered, bones decorating the black gloves. gloves youâd seen many times before. gloves that had been pressed to gunshots, trying to stop the bleeding.
the lower half of his face was covered, allowing you to see from his eyes up. his sandy blonde hair was ruffled.
you quickly turned your attention back to price.
âlove, what are you doinâ here? you should be in bedââ he began, but you waved a hand as you stepped further into the room. you pulled your iv pole in behind you, then kicked the door shut.
âdonât talk, just listen. i still mean what i said when you came to visit. the only reason im here right now is because you havenât put in for my fucking transfer.â you hissed.
the captainâs eyes widened, his face taking on a sheepish expression at the revelation that heâd been caught. simon stood quietly beside him, eyes trained on you. you ignored him.
âlove, i didnât want to do anything before you were readyââ he began. you cut him off.
âbullshit! you didnât want to do anything because you donât want me to leave. you want me to forgive you, right? hear you all out? come back and be a happy little family again?â
the room fell eerily silent as you stared at the captain. your heart was roaring in your ears.
âput in the fucking transfer, john.â you finished.
he reluctantly nodded. he inhaled, his eyes glancing at his lieutenant briefly, before he spoke again.
âof course, love. âm sorry.â
you didnât say anything else. you turned to go, your back to the men, when simonâs voice cut through the air.
âyou should be respectful to your captain, sergeant.â
you froze as you took in his words. was he fucking serious?
you didnât turn around. you trained your eyes on the door as you spoke words through gritted teeth.
âyou should watch your tongue, lieutenant, before I fucking cut it off.â
with that, you pulled open the door and stepped into the hallway, slamming it loudly behind you.
authorâs note:
apologies for the wait! I hope everyone enjoyed! (this is being posted before proofreading, so I hope itâs okayâ Iâll read through it later, itâs just late and im tired lol)
ending 2 for tolerate it! this was my original idea for the ending!
I just wanted to clarify that Iâm writing these two endings bc of the feedback Iâve received. The first ending is for those who wanted them to reconcile/make amends, and I wanted to give those readers some closure.
this ending is for those who want reader to be happy without him (which was my original idea lol). anyways I know a lot of people didnât like ending 1 and thatâs okay!! but hereâs ending two, I hope you like it better :)
[ also, this takes place in between the time that reader leaves simon/price and the last line of part two! ]
part one here, part two here, ending 1 here
your friend graciously let you live with them for a few months while you got back on your feet.
you went to therapy. stopped crying whenever you thought of him or even his name. started taking care of yourself again.
you move out and find this cute little house. itâs small, cozy. you adore it, and your friend helps you move in.
you make it your own with colors and trinkets and pictures. thereâs nothing in that house that serves as a reminder of your time with him. youâd gotten rid of all the pictures, all the gifts heâd bought you before things turned sour.
fuck him. he didnât deserve to see your growth and your happiness. he didnât deserve anything from you.
you get used to being on your own again. itâs nice. you donât worry about a man who is halfway across the world. donât worry about baking a cake for his return or setting up streamers. donât worry about how damaged heâll be when he walks through the door.
youâre happy. you love your job, your home, your friends. you treat yourself to coffee every wednesday afternoon, and thatâs when you meet him.
youâve ordered your coffee and are sitting at one of the cafeâs little tables, scrolling on your phone, when a man clears his throat.
you look up, and heâs got the kindest smile youâve ever seen.
âhi,â he says, and you give a small smile as you click off your phone.
âum, hi?â you say, a little unsure of why heâs speaking to you.
ânot to sound weird or anything,â he begins, and you give a small laugh.
âyâknow, whenever someone says that, whatever they say next does tend to sound weird.â
he nods, that smile on his lips growing a smidge wider. âright. so, I guess this will be weird then, huh? but Iâve noticed you here every wednesday, and I just wanted to tell you youâre beautiful.â
you blush. you donât think a man has ever been so straightforward with you, and although you do think itâs kind of weird, you try to just focus on the compliment.
but your guard is up. you donât know him.
âoh, thank you. thatâs sweet,â you reply, and heâs still looking down at you.
âcan I sit?â he asks, which takes you by surprise.
âum, sure? I guess?â you say, and it sounds more like a question than a statement, but heâs sliding into the seat across from you.
he introduces himself, and you tell him your name. he says itâs pretty. youâre starting to think heâs coming on too strong.
but as the two of you begin to talk, you start to realize thatâs just who he is. heâs a flirt, a flatterer, but itâs good natured.
itâs easy to talk to him. he keeps the conversation going, and he seems generally interested in what you have to say. itâs a stark difference from your last relationship.
but then he tells you heâs military, and your heart nearly stops.
âoh,â you say, a small frown on your lips.
âthat an issue?â he says, and his tone is teasing. he doesnât knowâ how could he? but your face says it all.
his brows furrow, and he gets serious for the first time since heâd sat across from you. he starts to reach for your hand, but decides against it. again, the two of you donât know each other, and heâs aware of that.
âI donât have a good track record with men in the military,â you tell him, trying to lighten the mood. he can tell somethingâs wrong, but he doesnât push. he takes the bait, and youâre grateful. it makes you like him even more.
thatâs why you end up talking until the place closes. the employees are practically shooing you out as you and the military man apologize profusely.
youâre on the sidewalk now, and heâs smiling at you. you find yourself smiling back.
âdâyou mind if I get your number?â he asks.
as much as you enjoyed talking to him, youâre still unsure. you just recovered from everything that happenedâ are still recovering. you donât want to rush into anything. so, you shake your head.
âif youâre serious,â you begin, looking up at him. âIâll see you on another wednesday.â
he nods, a mischievous smile on his face. âim up to the challenge.â
you give a small laugh, then tell him goodnight. you turn and begin to walk towards your car, and youâre smiling like an idiot.
you donât want to get you hopes up, but that little naive part of youâ a part of you youâd thought was dead and goneâ is making you. you try to stamp it back down.
next wednesday, you donât see him, and youâre a little sad about it. you donât see him the wednesday after that, either.
you donât see him for a few months, actually. and after a few weeks, youâve stopped thinking about him.
but then one wednesday, youâre sitting in that coffee shop, and there he is.
heâs wearing a short sleeve shirt, and you can see fresh cuts and scrapes along his arms. he asks if he can sit, and you oblige, gesturing to the seat across from you.
âsorry for disappearing on you,â he says, and you shake your head. he doesnât owe you anything. you barely know each other.
âthat day we talked, i ended up gettinâ deployed a few days later. didnât have your number, soâŚâ he trails off with a cheeky smile, and you grin as you roll your eyes.
âso im to blame, hm?â you say, and he nods.
âoh, absolutely.â heâs teasing, and you laugh.
âthen letâs amend that.â you hand him your phone and he lights up. he taps his number in quickly before handing the phone back to you. you send him a quick âhiâ so your number will pop up in his phone.
âdidnât forget about you, though,â he says, and you blush. this man certainly has a way with words. âthatâs why im here. glad to see youâre still a creature of habit.â
âis that a bad thing?â you ask, and he shakes his head.
ânah, I donât think so.â
your phone chimes then. itâs one of your friends, asking you if you can come over. you type a quick reply and start to gather your things.
âleavinâ so soon?â he says, and you give a small nod.
âfriend emergency.â
he nods. âunderstood. well, Iâll see you around then, yeah?â he smiling as he pushes himself out of his chair.
âyou do have my number now,â you remind him. âwe donât have to wait on chance encounters.â
he hums in agreement. âthatâs true, but I prefer face-to-face, yâknow? especially since yours is so pretty.â
âyouâre a flirt,â you tell him, but youâre blushing, and he chuckles.
âguilty.â
you bid him goodbye and walk towards the exit, your mind instantly shifting gears to your friend. you donât think about the military man again until he texts you that night.
âfriend okay?â he types.
âall good.â you respond.
heâs typing back for a good minute. the bubble disappears, then reappears.
âif there are no more friend crises for the foreseeable future, and im not shipped off to fight bad guys, how about a proper date?â
you smile as you read the message.
âsure.â you respond, and he sends back a smiley face.
a first date turns into a second, then a third, then a fourth. theyâre spread out over a year because of his job, but you donât find yourself minding that much. he treats you so much differently than the last man did.
he eventually asks you to be his partner, and you say yes. of course youâre a little hesitantâ things with your last military man started off good, too. but you feel like itâs different this time. heâs different.
you donât know it, but every time heâs deployed, he talks his squadâs ear off about you. tells them youâre the most beautiful person heâd ever seen, and that youâre so funny. tells them heâs gonna ask you to move in with him.
but he never mentioned your name. maybe he forgot, or maybe he just didnât want to share that piece of you with them.
âyou never shut up about this lover of yours,â simon/price says one day while theyâre eating in the mess hall. although theyâre not in the same squad, theyâre friends, and they happen to be on base at the same time. âno way theyâre real.â
your man just grins and holds out his phone, showing off his lockscreen. itâs a picture of you with your head thrown back in laughter. heâd taken it on one of your dates.
simon/priceâs face darkens almost imperceptibly before he masks it. thatâs you. he hadnât thought about you in ages, but he knows thatâs you in that picture. now everything comes rushing back.
your lover doesnât notice the other manâs expression shift. he doesnât realize that the man across from him knows you.
you had told him more about the man who broke your heart, but youâd never mentioned his name. you didnât want to risk him knowing him.
itâs a good thing youâd never mentioned the name, because if your lover knew, heâd punch him in the jaw.
the conversation eventually shifts away from you, and simon/price is grateful. your man is none the wiser.
when he gets back home, he asks you to move in. you tell him no at first. youâre still a little broken. he understands, and doesnât hold it against you. he takes it in stride, and youâre grateful.
you donât know how you got so lucky this time. you donât know how this man, who was so understanding, so kind, so caring, had practically fallen into your lap. maybe it was karma from your last relationship.
the universe crushed you once, and to make up for it, they dropped this man into your life. whatever it was, you were thankful.
the second time he asks you to move in with him, you say yes. he helps you with everything, and the whole time heâs smiling like an idiot. even when you almost drop a shelf on his toe, or when you argue with him about where to hang a picture.
you two end the night eating take out on the couch and watching trashy tv. he decides right then that heâs going to marry you one day.
a few months after you move in, he tells you he wants you to meet his friends.
youâre nervous, but he reassures you it will all be fine. tells you that theyâll love you. so, you get yourself ready and then heâs helping you into his truck, and your leg is shaking the whole way to the bar.
he puts a comforting hand on your knee. gives you a dazzling smile.
âtheyâll love you,â he tells you. you nod.
when you get to the crowded bar, he leads you by the hand inside. youâre towed along behind him, so you donât see his friends until youâre standing right in front of the booth they occupy.
you scan their faces, and you donât recognize any of them. youâre thankfulâ a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders. he introduces you to them, and you fit in easily.
the night is going well until your man mentions simon/priceâs name. he couldnât know, youâd never told him. he was telling the story of how simon/price hadnât believed him when he was talking about you.
the rest of his friends were laughing, but you were tense. he noticed immediately, shoulder nudging yours as he leaned down to whisper in your ear.
âyou okay?â he murmured, and you nodded.
he could tell you were lying, but he didnât push it. didnât even bring it up again until the two of you were home.
âhow do you know simon/price?â he asked you as you hung your coat up on the rack. you frowned as you turned to face him.
âhe was the one I dated before you. the guy who broke my heart. the one I told you about, remember?â
your man goes silent. heâs looking at you, his fists clenched at his sides. he believes you. thereâs not a doubt in his mind, even for a second, that youâre not telling the truth.
âI didnât want to tell you his name,â you admit, taking a step towards him. âin case you knew him. didnât want to make things complicated.â
heâs still silent, his eyes trained on you as you slowly approach. an expression you canât name paints his face.
âI understand if you want to end things,â you tell him, and that gets him moving again. heâs shaking his head. âI donât want to come between you and your friends.â
âfuck him,â he spits, and he reaches his arms out to you. you step into his embrace and take a shaky breath. âfuckinâ bastard. I showed him a picture of you, and he didnât say anything. I was gonna invite him tonight, but heâs on assignment, andââ he inhales sharply as his hands rest on your back. âand now im gonna break his fucking jaw.â
you push yourself back, your eyes finding your loverâs. you shake your head. âitâs not worth it. besides, donât make any enemies within your base. youâve got enough of those already.â
you can tell he wants to argue, but he doesnât. he nods after a moment. silence fills the room.
âwe donât run in the same circles, usually,â he tells you, his voice quiet. âknown each other since enlistment. got assigned to different squads. kept running into each other, though. kept in touch.â
âyou can stillââ you begin, but he interrupts.
âno, fuck him. I canât be his friend when heâs treated you like shit. fucker will be lucky if I donât blacken his fuckinâ eye.â
you donât say anything. you pull yourself back towards his chest, and he holds you tight.
you donât say anything, but your heart swells. this man, the one in your arms, is everything that he wasnât. he doesnât tolerate you, he celebrates you. loves you unconditionally. communicates and compromises. doesnât pull away.
thatâs why, when he asks you to marry him a month later, you say yes without thinking. because you donât need to think.
the ceremony is small. friends and family gather and celebrate the two of you. you laugh and dance and drink the night away with the love of your life by your side.
and you donât think of the man that broke your heart anymore. donât give him the time of day, because youâve moved on to something far greater. youâve moved on to what you deserve.
a few years down the road, when your husband has finally retired, youâre making your way down the road to meet him at the coffee shop that brought you together.
someone calls your name, and your blood runs cold. you know that voice, and although you havenât thought about who it belongs to in years, you doubt youâll ever truly forget it.
heâs calling your name from somewhere behind you. you donât turn around.
instead, you pull open the door of the coffee shop, step inside, and smile when you see your husband sitting at the same table youâd met him at all those years ago.
ââââââââââââââââââââââ
authorâs note:
ending 2 is finally here! while writing this, I originally pictured the reader getting with Gaz/johnny; however, I wasnât sure how that would turn out.
how would they still work with simon/price after knowing everything? how would you go so long without hearing about/meeting gaz/johnnyâs squad mates?
I didnât know, and thatâs why I scrapped the idea. You can still picture them, though! but I thought it best to have the love interest someone kinda detached from the 141.
anyways, hope you enjoyed :)
ok this is the end of the little tolerate it seriesâ BUT Iâm writing two different endings!! so hereâs ending 1 :)
part one here and part two here
ending version 2 here
when he saw you that day on the street and tried to stop you, you had kept walking. hadnât even turned your head, as if you knew it was him speaking.
of course youâd known it was him. he couldnât blame you for ignoring him, honestlyâ he had been awful to you. he fully recognized that now, after years of being alone and mandated therapy and an honorable discharge.
he recognized how he let the one good thing in his life slip through his fingers, all because he was too damn wrapped up in himself. but he had a right to be.
he had a right to not want to celebrate coming home. had a right to want peace and quiet once escaping from the sounds of war and death. he just shouldâve communicated that with you instead of pulling away.
heâs grown. he understands now. and he knows you donât owe him anythingâ hell, he wouldnât be surprised if you slapped him across the face for this, but he needed to try.
he knew it was selfish of him. youâd moved on, surely. years had passed and youâd grown. heâs sure that naivety he once found charming is long gone, most likely from his doing.
he takes a deep breath, fist raised to knock on the door to your house. itâs small and quaint. something he definitely couldâve seen you picking out when the two of you had still been together. maybe not all of you had changed.
heâd gotten the address through Laswell as a parting gift. and he didnât know why it was the one thing that came to mindâ but it was, and now heâs here. standing on your porch with his fist in the air like a fucking creep.
he pushes out an exhale and knocks. all is silent inside the house, and he knocks again, the second one easier than the first.
âcoming!â he hears you call from inside. he steels himself. readies himself for attack, for battle. it was something he couldnât quite shake, even if heâd been retired for a year now. those instincts really never leave you.
the door swings open, and the smile you were sporting instantly drops.
âwhat are you doing here?â thereâs venom in your tone. he doesnât shy away.
âloveââ he begins, but you scoff and start to shut the door.
âactually, I donât want to know. get off my porch before I call the copsââ
before the door can click shut, he reaches a hand out and blocks you from fully shutting it. you look down at his hand, bewildered.
âmove your hand.â you speak through gritted teeth. he stands his ground.
âlove,â he starts again, pushing the words out quickly to avoid getting cut off again. âyâdonât owe me anythinâ and I know that. but can I at least apologize? please?â
you stare at him. he keeps his hand in the door, watching your face intently. he canât tell whatâs going on behind your eyes.
you take a beat. two. three. then you shut your eyes tightly as you inhale, open them as you release the breath, and open the door wider.
âyouâve got five minutes to speak your piece, and I hope you know Iâm doing this for you, not me. I got over you a long time ago, and because I see myself as a halfway decent person, Iâm going to let you do this. then you can leave and never come back. understand?â
he gives a small nod. âunderstood.â
you step aside and he enters your house, eyes already scanning his surroundings. itâs cute and airy, comfortable and full of you.
pictures of you and friends on the walls. lamps that look a hundred years old on end tables. big windows letting the sun shine in and onto a plethora of plants. colorful artwork and pillows and fabrics. itâs a house full of you, of life, and he finds himself envying it.
he doesnât know why. maybe because itâs something so normal, and something heâs never experienced. he didnât get that before he left home, and he certainly didnât get it in the military. he still doesnât have it now. heâs still struggling to figure out who he is without a gun in his hand.
ânice place,â he says, and he means it.
you roll your eyes as you walk towards the blue, comfortable looking couch situated to the right. he follows dutifully.
you gesture towards the couch, and he takes the hint. he sits down, sinking into the cushion, and watches as you move to stand across from him. he knows youâre putting distance between the two of you. he doesnât blame you.
you were never the problem.
he was.
âfive minutes, starting now. best believe Iâm timing your ass,â you mutter out, pulling your phone from your pocket and tapping the screen. setting a timer, most likely.
best to get on with it, then.
âI owe you an apology, and I âave since yâleft. before thaâ, actually. I was an ass, and I know thaâ now. you had every right to leave, and you have every right to hate meââ
you gave a mirthless, hollow laugh and crossed your arms over your chest. you were putting up your walls, protecting yourself.
âyou put me in therapy, did you know that? years of it. broke me down and crushed me into tiny pieces. made me think I was the problem, that I deserved to be treated that way. ruined my trust and my confidence.â
your tone was bitter. your nails dug into the skin of your arms.
âyou were never the problem,â he says, his words firm. he stand then, hands hanging loosely at his sides. âI was. I know thaâ now. I pulled away when I shouldâve communicated, or hellâ broke things off sooner.â
âso thatâs why youâre here then? to tell me you wished you wouldâve broken up with me before I broke up with you?â
god, that was not what he meant, and he struggled to find the way to put his thoughts into words.
âno, fâcourse not, love. Iâm tryinâ to say I strung yâalong, made things worse, andââ
âand what?â you interrupted.
âanâ im sorry, love. I know it probably doesnât mean anythinâ anymore. but i am. deeply.â
you didnât speak for a minute. your eyes studied his face. he knew you were probably taking in the obvious signs of age, of battles he came back from when you were no longer there.
âyou going on a suicide mission? is that why youâre here? making amends before you die so you can face the afterlife with a clear conscience?â
he shook his head, taking a small step forward. âno. Iâ I was discharged. a bit ago, actually.â
âcongrats,â you deadpanned.
âthaâs not thaâ point,â he sighed. âthey made me go to therapy for a while. unpack all thaâ shit they put me through. and the shrink brought up you once, and it got me thinkinâââ
âso youâre here because your shrink told you to say sorry?â
âbloody hell, love, let me finish,â exasperation was clear in his tone, but he tried to reel it in. he reminded himself that you didnât owe him shit. you could kick him out right now. he was here because of your allowance, and the second you stopped tolerating him, heâd be back on the porch.
you raised your eyebrows but kept your mouth clamped shut.
âI was an ass when I was with you, and thaâs on me, not you. I was dealinâ with my own shit, and havinâ you celebrate me and boastinâ about my bravery and shitâ it didnâtâ I couldnât stand it. you donât understand, love, and you never willâ and thaâs not your fault. sâmine, and Iâm still cominâ to terms with all thaâ shit. and I shouldâve communicated thaâ with you instead of pullinâ away.â
silence filled the air between the two of you. he could hear the tick of a clock nearby. two ticks. three ticks. four. five.
âwhat do you want from me, then?â you spoke, and your voice was soft. he could hear the tremble in itâ that old you slipping back in, and god he wanted to hold you.
he remembered loving you. he still knew what that felt like, even if was so long ago. and that love was creeping back in, that need to protect you coming back like a tidal wave.
ânothinâ.â he said.
ânothing.â you repeated. he nodded.
the timer on your phone went off. five minutes, on the dot.
you clicked it off and looked at him. he was already moving towards the door.
âwaitââ you called out to him, and as he turned back to face you, he could tell you hadnât meant to. it had slipped out subconsciously, and he could see you fighting yourself on what your next words would be.
âIâ I donât forgive you,â you told him. âI donât know if I ever will. but Iâ you donât deserve to be alone. not after all youâve done.â
he looked at you, the fingers of his hands twitching as he waited for you to speak again.
you took a deep breath and turned your attention to your feet. âIâm here. if you need someone to talk to about whatever. umâ Iââ
âitâs alrighâ, love. yâdont have to say anythinâ you donât mean.â
you shook your head. âI do mean it. I admired you when we were together, yâknow? you were everything to meâ and thatâs not something that ever fully goes away. I kinda hate you for everything you did,â you gave a small laugh. âbut I donât want you to suffer, okay? maybe we canâ can get coffee or something next week. yeah?â
your eyes were glassy. he resisted the urge to reach for you. he was a protector, it was in his nature. heâd been too wound up in himself back then to realize that the trait heâd showcased on the battlefield shouldâve applied to his home life, too. applied to his relationship. to you.
âyeah.â he nodded, his voice soft. he gave you a small smile. âthaâ would be nice.â
you nodded. he looked at you for a moment longer, taking in everything that had changed. but there was still the hint of that naive, youthful you, and that made him smile a little wider.
he turned and walked out the door.
ââââ
authorâs note:
muahahahaha ambiguous ending. do they get back together?? no?? do they ever get coffee?? itâs up to you!
this is ending one, keep a look out for ending 2 :)
everyoneâs asking for a part two so here is more angst bc cedar by gracie abrams is perfect for this [ also inspired by what @shotmrmiller said in their reblog :)) ]
part one here
part three (aka version 1 of the ending) here
part three (ending version 2) here
itâs odd coming home to an empty house. unnerving, even. he doesnât like itâ dislikes it even more than he did your celebrations. fuck, heâd kill for those damn streamers right now.
âlove?â his voice is soft as he calls out into the dark, once lively little flat. it hasnât felt this big since before you had moved in.
he takes a few more steps inside, toeing off his boots and letting his backpack fall to the floor. by now, you wouldâve been launching yourself into his arms. where were you? youâd never missed the day he came home. ever. you would have it marked on your calendar from the day he left, exclamation points and stars decorating the date.
âlove?â he calls again, his voice a little louder. he keeps moving; notices thereâs no smell of freshly baked goods or a home-cooked meal.
he rounds the corner, his eyes instantly finding the little note propped up on the dining table. eyebrows furrowed, he approaches. itâs addressed to him, clearly in your handwriting.
he reads it, and he really shouldâve seen all of this coming.
he doesnât cry. doesnât even feel sad, really. itâs not like he hadnât loved youâ he had, but sometimes you made it really damn difficult to. your constant touches and words, doting on him, talking his ear off about this and that. heâd loved it at first, then came to tolerate it, and eventually he found himself hating it.
it wasnât fair to you. he didnât hate you, he hated the naivety. the unconditional love. partners were supposed to show each other that kind of love, were they not? so why did he come to despise it?
perhaps it was some deep rooted self-hatred. something dark and twisted inside of him that had done too much and taken life. killed and killed and killed. watched his comrades die in a number of ways. slowly. quickly. suddenly. brutally.
it hollowed him out, but it was his job. it was his job to do what he could for the damn worldâ get his hands dirty so people like you would never have to worry about a damn thing.
he shouldâve seen it coming. you had been acting a little odd the last time he was home, he realizes now. detached, almost. quieter. he had cherished the quiet then.
now it was weird. he didnât know how to feel.
he placed the note back down onto the table before making his way into the kitchen. some utensils were missing. some plates and bowls. the colorful dishrags youâd hung from the stove handle. the little plant youâd stationed in front of the window above the sink.
all the pictures of the two of you remained on the fridge. he could see in the photos how he slowly became detached. but youâ god, you wore that dazzling smile in every photo.
he turned around and headed towards the bedroom.
ââââââââââââââââââââââ
there wasnât really any defining closure. youâd left the note, sure, but he hadnât gotten to speak his piece.
would he have begged you to stay? told you to leave?
he didnât know. all he knew was that it wasnât fair to you, how he acted. what he did.
he also knew that if you called, or if you showed up and said you forgot something, or hell, if he saw you on the street, heâd say something. apologize at least, because thatâs the least you deserved.
but you didnât, and after a few days, he stopped thinking about you. what youâd be telling him right now if you were there. stopped thinking about how you sang when you cooked dinner. how you would reach for his hand when the two of you were in the grocery store.
how you would throw those damn âwelcome home!â parties.
he fell back into who he was, and your memory became nothing but a minuscule dot on a large piece of paper.
but for you? you had been miserable when youâd shown up at your friends apartment. cried into her shoulder as you told her about the note. sobbed as you realized that he didnât care about you, and how youâd wasted so much time on this man who didnât give a damn.
but even still, when you stirred in the middle of the night, you expected to feel his hands around your body. expected him to press a kiss to your head as you drifted back to sleep.
you woke up and expected him to be there. you forgot that he wasnât yours. you found yourself missing him, even though youâd starting doing that far before you actually left.
it took the man you loved days to move on. it took you monthsâ almost a year. he put you in fucking therapy, for godâs sake, because that shit messes with someone.
loving someone so completely, so wholly, only to finally realize itâs one sided? itâs crushing. he crushed you. but you picked up the pieces, and you put yourself back together.
you move on. find someone who actually cares for youâ someone who communicates and doesnât lose interest. someone who appreciates your enthusiasm. someone who returns it.
and when the man that broke your heart several years ago tries to stop you on the street one day,
you keep walking.

Ghost
Youâd only just noticed that Ghost stood at the front door of his apartment as if he were guarding it. Perhaps from your attempts at leaving.
Youâd tried apologising to him for âstringing him alongâ as long as you had, but you genuinely believed the two of you were just being friendly, bantering. Nothing more to it.
Obviously, Simon hadnât seen it that way. You know that now as you watch his hand slip down the front of his sweatpants, palming his erection through them.
âWhy donâcha come and show me how sorry you are with that pretty little mouth of yours.â Heâs so monotone when he says it that you think heâs joking. His face tells you otherwise.
Of course, youâre speechless. But Simon cares little for your bewilderment. He looks down at you, his eyes narrowing. When you donât come to him, he steps towards you.
âYou know,â he says, coming closer. You step back. âYâhear about pretty little things like you wandering into a manâs trap. Gettinâ ravaged.â
Heâs before you, now, all but chest-to-chest. His eyes are black. Gone is the man youâve been playfully flirting with these last few months; who youâd tried to push over the edge with your accidental grazes, your unintentional whines, the batting of your eyelashes.
None of that will save you now. His voice carries the weight of a dark star.
âHow do you know this isnât exactly where I want you.â
KĂśnig
KĂśnig was eerily silent upon your rejection.
You both stood in his kitchen where, after watching you cook, his heart swelling beyond reason and fathom, KĂśnig had blurted out that he liked you. A lot.
Unfortunately, you couldnât return those feelings, only viewing KĂśnig as a good friend at most.
And now, he stands sentinel over a reaction you canât possibly predict. Especially as his eyes, usually crinkled with a smile and laughter, seem lighter than usual, as if drained of all their warmth.
âI see,â is all KĂśnig says. He sighs, runs a hand through his hair. He leans back against the kitchen counter, one hand gripping its rounded edge while the other remains free.
âI suppose I only have one option, then.â
KĂśnig stands to his full height, approaching you, invading your personal space. Heâs almost chest-to-chest with you, the bulk of his frame, the size of his biceps becoming glaringly obvious to you now as his shirt struggles to contain him, pulled taut over his musculature.
âIâll just have to destroy you for any other man you try to whore around with.â
The way in which he says it suggests indifference; as if this is something heâs done or thought about a million times before. He presses you into the counter, hands coming to rest either side of you. He bears down on you, jaw clenched and teeth gritted behind straight lips.
âThen youâll have no choice but to come limping back to me.â
Soap
âOh aye, Bonnie? Youâre gonna drop me, just like that?â
The look Johnny gives you is one of incredulous disbelief. Yet, in some way, you feel that he already knew you werenât dedicated to the idea of a relationship with him. Even after all the time youâd spent together, the many nights youâd enjoyed sleeping over at his apartment, the many treats youâd baked for him; these were all things one could easily mistake for friendship.
Youâd considered that perhaps tonight hadnât been the best time to let him down, regardless of how gently you did it, considering it was your weekly movie night and it was his turn to host.Â
You wish youâd listened to your inner self. Especially now as Johnny watches you, his eyes silver and sharp like a wolfâs. Without warning, he pounces on you, taking your wrists and planting them into the sofa cushions.
He lies atop you, heavy. Unmoving. Struggling only makes him grunt, a spark flashing in his eye.
âTell you what,â he proposes. âIf yâcan still remember yer name by the time Iâm through with you,â he presses his hips against yours. You gasp at the feeling of something heavy and pointed catching you.Â
âWeâll see how willing yâare to tryân lead me astray.â
Valeria
âI see how it is,â she sighs, arms crossed over her front. She has you tied to a chair in her office, mouth gagged as you try to plead with her through your tears, your eyes. âYou thought you could have your cake and eat it too. Thought you could have me while trying to fuck every other bitch that crosses your path.â
Youâd dared to try and break things off with Valeria â âthingsâ referring to the one-sided pursual of your love by a certain cartel mommy. But alas, your efforts to repel her had only strengthened her resolve â her need â to have you.
âIâve dealt with your type before,â she says, bringing her face down to your level. You swear her eyes are black, devoid of the slivers of humanity she still possesses â somewhere. The wrinkle in her nose forecasts disgust, an emotion you know first-hand does not bode well with Valeria.
âI thought you were different. Thought youâd know to shut up and take whatâs handed to you â especially when youâve worked yourself so hard to get it.â Valeriaâs hand comes down between your legs, her fingers wrapping around the meat of your thigh. Gripping. Tight.
âMaybe the you Iâm looking for is buried in there somewhere.â You can taste the venom in her voice as her scrutinising gaze roves over your bound form. She brings her mouth to your ear, intentional and without haste.
âAnd all I need to do is fuck it out of you.â
Price
You considered for a moment that John hadnât actually heard you. What, with his lax demeanour and total lack of acknowledgement of your rejection.
Of course, you were glad he wasn't reacting poorly, but to see him not reacting at all worried you.
âI could have you hidden away somewhereââ Price starts, lighting his cigar and not even looking at you, ââwhere youâd be for my eyes only.â
The fact that he says it so casually almost has you believing that youâve misheard him. You blink, wait for him to prove you wrong
Much to your shock, he does nothing to quell your growing anxiety.Â
âBet youâd like that â having the attention of an older man. âSpecially since youâve worked so hard to get it.â
Now, he looks at you, with eyes hard and sharp as diamond, half-lidded, a glare that could cut glass.
âSitting on my lap, wearing those tight little shorts around me. Bet you wanted this to happen, didnâtâya.â
When you donât respond, too shocked to even conjure a response that could cover even a fraction of what John had said, he spoke for you.
âWell, Love, got anything to say for yourself?â
He didnât give you time to answer. He took his legs off his desk and stood, staring at you.
âBetter say it now since yâwonât be able to say much by the time Iâm done with you.â
Horangi
âI just canât believe you thought this would end well for you.â Hong-Jin paces before you as you sit on the edge of your bed, a hostage in your own home. Clearly, your rejection of his proposal to become his partner hadnât ended well, hence the lock on your front door now lay broken, your security system disarmed.
âEspecially after all Iâve spent on you, after all Iâve done to you â for you.â
His eyes never left you, staring you down. You tried not to shake, tried not to make a run for the door that, while open and tantalising in its beckoning for your escape, a steel model of a man patrolled it, patrolled you. Had you prisoner.
He stops before you, stands just inches from where your knees are jittering. His hands come down to grip them, giving them a squeeze. If itâs meant to be comforting, his intentions are lost in translation.
âMaybe I wasnât clear enough with you,â he says. Offers you an out. âMaybe Iâve given you too much freedom.â
At that, he sinks to his knees before you and, without warning, parts your legs. You yelp, trying to pull away, but he keeps you tethered to the spot. His hands shoot to the top of your thighs and you can feel his fingers hooking over the sides of your bed shorts.
You try to reason with him, try to tell him youâll do whatever he wants, so long as he doesnât hurt you.
âShh, shh, itâs okay. Only want to show youââ he pulls the sides of your shorts downâ âwhat youâre missing.â
Alejandro
The instigator of such a cold reception from Alejandro had been your refusal of a date with him. One which, unbeknownst to you, heâd been planning and psyching himself up for for the past week.
âI see.â Alejandroâs face was stern, thunder clouds rolling over him, making his features dark and pointed. The onset of a storm.
You didnât know what to say, what to do, as Alejandro stood by your front door, dressed as if he was prepared to take you out right now.
You could see his jaw clench, his eye twitch.
âIs there someone else?â he asks.
You know that getting rejected solely because someone favours another over you is bad, but being rejected without competition is worse. You swallow, unsure of which option will infuriate Alejandro more. When you fail to answer, he sighs.
âYou know, I always thought you were smarter than this, (Y/N).â His voice is low and intentional, like a plane flying too close to the ground. You look up, only to find him staring down at you, taking up all the space of your doorway with his hand perched on top of it like itâs nothing.
âBut maybe I just have to teach you.â
You try to speak up for yourself, try to ask Alejandro what heâs playing at, but he shushes you. Steps into your home.
âIâll have you crawling back to me by the nightâs end, CariĂąo.â His words carry a weight that roots you in place. âI promise you that.â
Rodolfo
âOh, I know,â he says with all the certainty in the world. Youâre in his apartment, coming to break the news to him that you canât accept his boyfriend proposal; the one heâd sent you in a five-page-long love letter.
You blink, befuddled. âYouâŚyou know?â Your brow raises. âYouâre taking this a lot better than I thought you would.â
Rudy gives a hum, a smiling one. He puts his hands in his pockets, leans against the wall behind him.
âThatâs because I know you donât mean it.â He gives you little time to contemplate his statement before heâs descending upon you like a solar eclipse. âI just needed an excuse to get you somewhere we wouldnât beâŚâ He searches for the right word. âDisturbed.â
Strange, considering how he was disturbing you right now. He went on.
âI mean, how else was I going to get you here? If Iâd just text you, you could shoot me down without coming anywhere near me. But now,â heâs close enough that his hands rest on your arms when he reaches for you, pulling him closer to him. You stumble on uncertain legs.
His grip is soft but you feel trapped, even if Rudy is one of the few people youâd feel comfortable being trapped with.
âNow,â he says, voice low. He pulls you into his chest, hard with years of training.
âI can show you how well I can please you.â
Graves
Graves is far more used to being the player, not the played. So when he discovered that you were, in fact, engaging in what could be construed as promiscuous behaviour with him without the intention of falling for his charms, he went silent. His stare hardened.
Heâd never admit it, but heâd actually grown to like you in the time youâd been together. A lot.
âSo thatâs it?â he says. His voice, usually rounded with his southern charm and honeyed words, strikes you like an arrow, ice and sharp. âWe have a good thing goinâ and youâre just gonna throw it all away?â
Youâd tried to explain to him that no, that wasnât what you meant when youâd suggested some time apart. You just wanted to explore other options, is all.
He gives a whiplash, humourless laugh.
âCan tell youâre lyinâ from a mile away. I know you want me, need me.â
When you roll your eyes, ready to back out of the conversation altogether, heâs on you, closing the gap between you and gripping you by your shoulders. He presses you against the wall.
âFight it all you want, but we both know youâre just gonna come crawlinâ back, so why donât I make this easy for ya.â His breath is hot against your cheeks, a bull on the prowl. His fingers dig into your shoulders and he gives you an impish smile. One that seems to substitute something much more insidious.
âIâll have you begging me to fuck you by the end of the night,â he promises. âOne way or another, whether you like it or not, mâgonna make you all mine.â
Gaz
Gaz has played the nice guy for far too long. This, he realises as he watches someone try to chat you up from across the bar, only to make the fatal mistake he himself had made: leaving you unattended.
Gaz wasted no time. He slithered through the crowded bar to you, taking your wrist in his hand on his way. He dragged you to a small room, dark and out of the way. He locked the door behind him.
âWhat was all that about, then.â
He faces away from you, but even through the dim light of the one, flickering light bulb above you, you could see his shoulders heaving, his hands clenched into fists as he awaits your response.
A friend, just some guy â it doesnât matter. Gaz turns and bears down on you, backing you against the wall. Your hands fly up to his chest to try and quell him, to put some distance between the two of you. His heart pounds and so does yours, albeit for different reasons.
âYouâre mine,â he says. He pens you in, his form broad and sculpted by horrors unknown. A hand comes to take your chin between its fingers, jerking your gaze to meet his. âHave I not worked hard enough to be able to have you yet.â
His voice cracks, though he shows no signs of crying. No, Instead he presses his front to yours. Something catches your thigh and you gasp.
âMaybe you just need reminding,â he tells you, âof how much Iâve done for you.â He rolls his hips against you, his hands coming to bolt themselves on the wall behind you, caging you.
âHow much I can do.â

⪠â WINNER TAKES IT ALL ; bada lee x f!reader | !SPOILERS!
summary: it all comes down to this: badaâs just won street woman fighter, and needs someone to celebrate with. (spoiler: overstimulation + đ§ from bada) the mighty fall universe
pairing: bada lee x swf2!f!reader
warning: SMUT!! itâs intense + not for the faint hearted. youâre responsible for what you read <3
Badaâs eaten you out plenty of times before.
But never like thisâ never with this intensity. Youâre blushing furiously as she adjusts you, hooking one calf over her shoulder so she can nuzzle up against your cunt.
âThis pussy is my reward, isnât it?,â She murmurs, never before sounding so undone, so starved. âI won the competition, so I get to put my mouth on this pretty cunt, donât I?â Before you can think of a reply to give her, Bada parts your labia with her fingers, pouncing forward to lick into you.
You let out a yelp, legs tensing automatically, digging your heels into her back as her rough tongue laps over your folds. The cold edges of the bathroom sink dig into your ass, and your thankful for Bada keeping you balanced and supporting most of your weight. Every flick of her tongue is precise and experienced, making you shiver as her nose rubs against your clit. The sensation has your back arching, a rising pressureâ youâre sensitive.
âBada,â you whine helplessly, no other option but to reach down and hold onto her hair. Bada hums against your pussy in affirmation, effortlessly sinking two fingers into your dripping heat. Your cunt stretches and clenches around the intrusion, and when she adds the third, a high-pitched moan escapes your mouth.
Bada moans in response at your pleasure, the sound vibrating through your core. You can feel her smiling against your skin.
Your hand, previously stroking her hair, clenches a fist against her now mussled locks. A loud groan leaves Badaâs mouth at the pulling sensation, lips latching onto your clit and sucking hard.
It all feels too much, youâre too hot, sweating in the white and pink outfit your Jam Republic team mates chose for you. Your dress is wrinkled from being pulled up to your hips by Bada. Youâre breathing heavily and Bada purrs. She purrs and the sound goes straight to your clit.
âYou- you feel so good, Bada please-â Now youâre begging, but unsure what for. Your vision blurs when she starts fucking her fingers into you even faster, the squelching sound almost too loud to bear. Bada continues her devilish pace until the pressure in your belly builds, and builds, andâ
âWait!ââ You sob, but itâs too late. Bada pushes a fourth finger inside and you feel so full , drooling out another gush of slick, which Bada licks up.
The world blurs through the wetness of your lashes, on the wet heat of your breath puffing against your own hand in attempts to silence yourself, on Badaâs fingers, nudging you open as deep as she can go. It stings, but your toes curl. It stings, but your thighs shake, you whisper things like deeper, harder, donât stop, donât stopâ
Your orgasm is sudden and splintering. You choke on a cry, your wetness gushing out of you and spilling onto Badaâs hand, which is still thrusting in and out in an eye-roll inducing rhythm. Bada laps it up eagerly, chasing your taste and nipping hard at your clit until you shake.
Youâre oversensitive, nearly numb from the after shock, pussy flushed and twitching from Badaâs administrations. Bada drinks your release all through your orgasm, only stopping when you fist a hand in her hair and pull her away.
âB-bada,â You hiccup, flushed and trembling, âToo much.â
Bada rises from between your legs, face drenched with your slick, eyes wild and gleaming. She keeps her fingers plugged into your cunt for a few seconds, stroking your inner walls until youâre shaking.
âGood girl,â Bada says roughly, gently pulling her hand out of you, turning her head to plant kisses on your thighs. âMy babyâs always so good for me, isnât she?â
You just hum and smile in agreement, too tired to say more. Bada stands up and lets you collect yourself for a few moments before you both have to return to the celebration, peppers your face with kisses, moving flyaway strands behind your ears in a move so gentle you feel like crying.
âAll those prizes and youâre the best gift yet.â She teases.
A scoff escapes you, raising your arms to engulf her in a hug. âHave I told you how proud I am? How much I loved seeing you dance on that stage?â
âI think youâve shown me that plenty already, y/n.â
