howdy, I'm Gremlin (but Cass/Cassander or Cicada are fine too!) and this is my battle cat blog B)

I mostly post about my ocs, but I do post the very occasional design or canon art too (most commonly Nightstar). please feel free to ask me about any of my ocs! I am always happy to talk about them <3

I am also currently doing a reread of the ENTIRE series in chronological order!! (help) currently I'm reading: Tallstar's Revenge (note: kinda dropped this reread a while back. I need to get back to it lmao)

I don't consistently make designs anymore, and the vast majority of the designs I've made here are extremely outdated now lol but feel free to request some cats!

I will only do one request per ask, so while you can request multiple (but please don't request like 20 cats at once. keep it to a max of 5), I will only choose one to draw. I haven't read any arcs past DotC, so requests for cats past then I may not get around to for a while due to just a general lack of knowledge about them :(

I can't guarantee I'll get around to requests super quickly, bc I get burnt out wayyyy too easily, and have very little energy to begin with lol.

also btw, my activity/note notifications are turned off. originally they were broken, now it's a choice because i got too used to them Not Being There lol. so if you reply to a post or smth i may not see it for a bit. i will still see messages and asks tho

Icepath (6) ~ Not bad! It's well known I like Ice- when used in names, and -path isn't bad here!! Creates the imagery of a cat that leaves ice in their wake.. like that's super cool?? Or a cat that just, walks over frozen lakes. That's also cool!

Thunderstep (5) ~ Pretty neutral name for me, I mostly think of a background character when I read it. Thunder- isn't a bad prefix necessarily, but -step is basic for me. So yeah~ neutral name for me!

Banditleap [Martenleap] (6 [7]) ~ I'll rate both names mwhahah >:D anyways! Banditleap... I do like the name, and if it was a cat in one of those like, "warrior cats but they're like in the wild west" or something like that, and they got a specific theme for naming, this name would work REALLY well!! But, for normal warriors, I think Bandit- is a odd prefix (Banditkit.... Hm). I get where it comes from, and again, I like the name, but yeah, idk how Bandit- would work as a prefix (unless he renamed himself it? Yeah idk I'm curious to know more lol). But hey! Martenleap is a good name!! Martens are really cute, and I can totally envision one jumping and leaping and such! So yeah, that's a pretty solid name too :3

Quietsnow (8) ~ oooo, I like this name!! Quiet- is a good prefix, and when has -snow as a suffix failed me yet?? I imagine it starts barely snowing in the dead of night, and there's an eerie silence which comes alongside the snow... Like! Yes omg that's so cool!!! So yeah, very good name!

Scorchfeather (8) ~ Fire name! (Hah, get it, fire- I'm not funny LMAO) Scorch- is always a strong prefix, usually stronger than Fire- or even Ember- sometimes (idk ember can be good tho..) but yeah!! And then, with -feather? It makes me think of a phoenix! And phoenixes are super cool so this cat is probably really cool too!! So yeah, pretty sick :]

Splashlily (9) ~ Aww this name is so cute!!! Splash- is a solid prefix most of the time, and it works SUPER well with -lily for a suffix!! Yeah! I don't have much more to say since it's just really good without much explanation... I think of a frog hopping off a lilypad into the water with a splash. Pretty neat!

Shimmerheart (10) ~ AWWW THIS NAME IS SO AWESOME!!! Shimmer- is such an awesome prefix, I'm actually in love with Shimmerkit!! It could kinda falter with a bad suffix... And with -heart, sometimes it doesn't work as a good suffix, and other times it thrives... And here, it definitely shines!! I love the way it flows, and the fact that reading this name I can instantly envision the cat tied to it. Maybe a cast that shows off and could be a bit arrogant, but actually has a lot of kindness and compassion? Who knows!! But yeah, overall this name is AMAZING, and I absolutely adore it!!!

Shadowrose (7) ~ Solid name! Shadow- is a common prefix, but -rose! I haven't seen that as a suffix really? And I honestly really like it!! Shadow- may be a bit on the nose for this name, but I honestly don't care and still like it LOL. so yeah pretty good!!

Cicadagaze (7) ~ Also a solid name!! Cicada- is a prefix I'm usually neutral on, but I do love -gaze as a suffix!! The imagery kind of makes me think of a swarm of cicadas and trying to see through them... Yeah!

Littlefire (8) ~ Aw this is cute!! Little- is always a prefix I like, and -fire to me is way more interesting as a suffix than it is a prefix!! Plus, the idea of a small fire, which will probably grow in size and intensity... Like yes that's an awesome image for a name!! And plus, personality wise, it could suggest a small cat with a fiery anger inside, or maybe a cat that keeps fighting no matter what!! But yeah, overall, this is an awesome name that I love!!

#have to resist the urge to blab about them all too much #but i will say a few things #it is very funny you think of thunderstep as a background character name because he is very much NOT a background character LMAO #him and his sister (who is icepath btw!) were always very major characters back when i was more actively doing things with them as a kid #mostly icepath but thunderstep did get a good bit of attention too #on martenleap: yeah i have no idea what was going through my mind when i named him as a kid lmao #in current canon he actually does now go by bandit tho!#which really was done because i was sad to let go of his original name but knew it had to be done bc it just didn't make sense #scorchfeather and splashlily are both super old rp characters (both from 2011) that are very very dear to me #scorchfeather in particular was my very first rp character EVER #definitely made me pretty happy to see a high rating on the both of them haha #and shimmerheart and shadowrose are actually sisters!

Are you okay about sharing what pixel art program and brush side did you use to make a custom clangen art, lineart please? I wanted to make some custom. :)

i literally just used medibang with a 1px pixel brush. nothing fancy! there are some sheets/grids on the discord that you can use to ensure everything lines up properly, if you're wanting to make new sprites, eyes, etc.
