Cross-cultural exchange party

今年を締めくくるYear-End Partyが開催されました。 前回に引き続きサコンさんがタイ料理を！そしてなんと!! ミャンマーからの留学生のタイさんがミャンマー料理を振る舞ってくれました!!! タイ料理はパイナップルチャーハンとチキンケーキ（トッド・マン・ガイ：鶏肉のから揚げ）で、両方一緒に食べるとさらに美味しくなりました。ミャンマー料理は"モヘンガ"という、卵やショウガなど多くの具材が入った素麺料理で、体がとっても温まる料理でした。特大のクリスマスケーキや、タイのデザート"ジンジャーボール"（ジンジャーティーの黒ごま餃子）を囲みながら、たくさんのサンタ?とトナカイ？が留学生も日本人学生もみんなを笑顔にした、楽しいクリスマスパーティーになりました！(by Partners 副サークル長)

Year-End Party was held to celebrate the end of year 2016. Sakonh from Thailand kindly offered to serve Thai food again like last time. Also, Thaung from Myanmar cooked Myanmar's cuisine! Pineapple Fried Rice and Thai Chicken Cake "Tod Man Gai" are Thai meal. Those bring out great taste when we eat them together. Myanmar’s “Monhinga” is thin white noodles in egg, ginger and other ingredients soup, which warms up our body. On that day, Santa Clauses and Reindeers were everywhere in the Center and brought smile on everybody’s face. With extremely big-size Cake and Black Sesame Dumplings in Ginger Tea for desert, we surely had a very good time!

場　所：五百羅漢・富山市民族民芸村　

雨が心配されたスタディーエクスカーションでしたが、なんとか天気も持ちこたえ、今回は11名の外国人留学生と3名の日本人学生が参加しました。民族民芸村ではガイドさんから日本文化や歴史に関する説明を受けて知識を深め、実際目にする日本の民芸品をみな興味深く眺めていました。「昨晩からの寒さで木々の葉が一日で色づいた」とガイドさんが説明された紅葉は、民族民芸村の立派な日本家屋に映え、とても見応えがありました。限られた時間ではありましたが、教室の外へ飛び出し、日本文化を肌で感じるとても貴重な体験ができました。

11 international students and 3 Japanese students participated in this Study Excursion in sunny intervals on the rainy day. They carefully listened to the explanation of Japanese culture and history from the guide and looked at the Japanese folk crafts with great interest. As the guide said “the cold weather from the last night turned them red all of a sudden”, autumn leaves were breathtaking beauty and even appeared more beauty in contrast to the traditional Japanese-style house. Despite the limited time, they had valuable experiences of feeling Japanese culture firsthand out of a classroom.

10月から入学した留学生を歓迎するWelcome Partyを開催しました！ 用意したお菓子に加え、なんと！タイからの留学生が、タイ料理のゲーン・キヨーワーン・ガイ・サイフアック(グリーンカレー)やラープガイ（鶏肉のサラダ）、ガイトート・ガティアム・プリックタイダム(鶏肉のソテー）、そしてカノム・ブア・ロイという白玉入りのデザートを作って振る舞ってくれました。辛いことで知られるタイ料理ですが、あっという間になくなってしまうほど、みんなで美味しくいただきました！高岡キャンパスから参加してくれた学生も。独特のスパイシーな香りが漂い、留学生と日本人学生の楽しい会話が聞こえる、賑やかな会になりました！(by Partners 斎藤)

The Welcome Party for International students, who came to the University of Toyama from this October, was held by Partners! This time, International student from Thailand kindly made a lot of Thai dishes, such as Green Curry with chicken, Spicy minced chicken salad, Stir-fried chicken with garlic and peppercorns, and sweet dessert called Khanom Bua Loi. Though Thai dishes are known for hot flavor, his cooking were so good that those were eaten right up quickly!! Some students came from Takaoka campus too. With the spicy aroma of Thai food filling the air, we had a really wonderful time at this event!! (Ms. Saito/Partners)

2016.7.27  Farewell Party

この夏帰国する留学生のFarewell Partyを開催しました！ 日本の夏らしく白玉を作り、みんな思い思いにフルーツやチョコレートをトッピングしていました。また、留学生の協力によりバングラデシュ料理 "shawarma"も登場！準備してきてくれたナンで具材を巻いて、みんなで作りました！最後には旅立つ留学生からの挨拶。「大変なこともあったけれど、楽しかった」と言ってくれる姿に、こちらもジーンとしました。またいつでも遊びに来てくださいね！そのほかにも、アメリカ留学中に休暇帰国している日本人学生が顔を出してくれたり、これから留学に行く学生もいたり。次のステップへとすすむ皆さんを、Partnersは応援しています！　　　　　　　　(by Partners サークル長)

Another season for farewell has come. We held the Farewell Party for the students completed their study period in Toyama University and departing for the next stage. Japanese ideal summer delicacy "Shiratama Dango (rice flour dumpling" was served. Everybody enjoyed the taste by topping with fruits and chocolate as they like. Our friends from Bangladesh kindly served their special wrap cuisine "shawarma" too. At the end, the students leaving made speech of their experience in Japan, and those were very touching. Study Excursion

場所：富山市民族民芸村

梅雨の晴れ間と言うより、陽射しまぶしい快晴となったこの日、今年度第２回目のスタディーエクスカーションに２２名の学生（留学生１７名と日本人学生５名）が集まり、富山市民族民芸村を訪れました。民芸村に到着すると、３名のボランティアガイドの方々が迎えてくださり、私たちに同行して、各施設について詳しい説明を、日本語と英語の両方でしてくださったので、日本の文化についてとてもためになる訪問となりました。中には別料金を払って茶の湯体験に参加する学生も。帰る直前に突然雨が降り出し、みんな「キャー！」と叫びながらバスに走り戻るなんて場面もありましたが、それぞれとてもいい体験ができたエクスカーションとなりました。

On one fine day in the drizzling rainy season, 22 students (17 International and 5 Japanese) gathered to participate the study excursion and headed to Toyama Municipal Folkcraft Village. Thanks to three volunteer guides accompanied us and gave us detailed explanation at each facility both in English and Japanese, our students could receive greater experience unexpectedly. Some tried tea ceremony even though it costs. The weather could not hold long enough and it began to rain as we leave. We all screamed and rushed to the bus. That was a very nice experience.

2016.06.29 Pancake Party

留学生も、日本人学生も、甘いものに目がない仲間が集まって、パンケーキパーティーを行いました。みんなでパンケーキを焼いて、フルーツやアイス、チョコレートなど好きなものを、おもいおもいにトッピング。芸術的に仕上がったものや、これでもかというくらい甘そうなものや(笑）みんなそれぞれ、美味しそうなパンケーキを作ってくれました！ (by Partners サークル長)

Many students, who have a sweet tooth, gathered for the Pancake Party. After making pancakes, sweet monsters decorated their cake with sprinkle of fruits, chocolates, pouring syrup and ice-cream as they like. Some looked artistic, and some looked...mmm..super sweet!  Having weakness for sweets could be one of the universal standard.

2016.06.01 Chinese and Taiwanese Food Party

Chinese&Taiwanese food をテーマに、料理交流会を行いました！ メニューは餃子、魯肉飯（ルーローハン）、おにぎりと中国茶。中国や台湾からの留学生がたくさん参加して、料理の腕前を披露してくれました。お昼から煮込んで作ってくれた台湾料理の定番、煮込み豚肉ぶっかけご飯"魯肉飯"は、甘辛～い香りがセンターの談話室中に漂い、とても美味しかったですね。 Partnersは料理を通しての異文化交流を、これからも企画していきたいと考えています。次回は6/29(水）にパンケーキパーティーを開催します！甘いもの好きのみなさん、集合ですよ♪  (by Partners サークル長)

This time the theme for the venue was Chinese and Taiwanese Cuisine. The Menu for the day were dumplings, Rurohan, rice balls and Chinese tea. Chinese students and Taiwanese students came around to display their skill in cooking. Rurohan is very popular Taiwanese dishes, which is pork ribs simmered with seasonings over the rice. While cooking, the salty-sweet smell hanged in the air and that was delicious! Next event will be "Pancake Party" on JUN 29. Do you have a sweet tooth? Then c'mon!

場所：新湊かまぼこ夢テラス海王、海王丸パーク、県営渡し船、新湊大橋

気持ちいーーっ!と伸びをしたくなるくらいの快晴に恵まれた今回のエクスカーションには１９名の留学生と６名の日本人学生が参加。新湊方面へ向かいました。食と健康のミュージアム“夢テラス海王”でとやまの名産品かまぼこの歴史や作り方を学んだあとは、今回の新企画！渡し船に乗り（ほんの5分足らずではありましたが）潮風を受けながらBon voyage。その後、新湊大橋のあいの風プロムナードを渡り、眼下に広がる景色を楽しみました。

The first study Excursion in 2016 was held on the beautiful fine day under the warm May sunshine. 19 International students and 6 Japanese students gathered to explore Shinminato area. After learning about kamaboko, which is the specialty of Toyama, at Dream Terrace Kaiwo, we all went on board of the ferry and enjoyed 5 minutes short voyage. Then, we walked on "Ainokaze promenade" the walkway installed under the Shinminato Bridge and this time enjoyed the panoramic view from the height.

国際交流サークル”Partners”主催で、この春から富山大学にやってきた留学生を迎えるWelcome Partyが行われました。1年生の日本人学生もたくさん参加してくれ、とても賑やかな会になりました。はじめは遠慮していた人も、すぐに打ち解 けて素敵な笑顔を見せてくれました。新しい出会いがたくさんあったことと思います。 みなさんが富山大学で楽しい思い出が作れるように、これからもイベントを企画していく予定ですので、ぜひ楽しみにしていてください。留学生、日本人問わず、どんどん参加してくださいね♪ (by Partners サークル長)

International exchange club "Patrners" held the Welcome Party for New International Students. Many Japanese freshmen also participated, and the party was a blast! Some were very shy in the biginning, however, they gradually opened up to other students and relaxed into smiles. We hope our welcome party was the nice opportunity for finding new friends. 国際交流サークル”パートナーズ”主催で、今年度をもって帰国する留学生のためのFarewell Partyが行われました。当日は節分ということもあり、みんなで巻きずしに挑戦。それぞれ好みの具材を入れて思い思いの巻きずしを完成させ、おいしそうに頬張っていました。最後はまもなく帰国してゆく留学生たちからのスピーチにジワッとする場面も。 みなさん日本に来て様々な経験をし、たくさんの人と出会い、カルチャーショックを受け、ときには寂しい思いをしたこともあったかもしれません。きっとそのすべてに意味があり、あらゆる経験がこれからの人生の一部としてみなさんを支えていくことでしょう。みなさんのますますの活躍を期待しています。

Farewell party for the International Student, who would go back their home countries as the school year ends, was held by the international exchange club "Partners". Since February 3rd was the Last Day of Winter "Setsubun," we made and ate original "makizushi" as we like, and had a fun time together. At the end, each International Student leaving made a short but hart warming speech. Throughout their many experiences in Japan, they met many friends, got a culture shock and sometimes felt lonely. However, all those are meant to be and will become important parts of their life. We wish for their further success.

2015年のYear-end Partyが国際交流センターにて行われました。Year-end Partyではバングラディシュやタイからの留学生たちがそれぞれ自国のカレーをつくってくれたり、日本の冬の風物詩でもあるぜんざいがふるまわれたりしました。 みなさん2015年は良い思い出も、そうでない思い出もあったかと思います。2016年はみなさんにとってすてきな思い出がもっとたくさんふえますように。これからも国際交流センターは、たくさんのみなさんのお越しをお待ちしております。

Year-end Party 2015 was held on December 18 at CIER. International students from Bangladesh and Thailand cooked their specialty dish of curry with their own countries' recipe. The Japanese seasonal and traditional food "zenzai" was also treated at the party. Everybody may have good memories or bad ones in 2015. We hope that you will be able to make wonderful memories in 2016 than previous year. We are always looking forward to your visits to CIER in 2016 too.

Study Excursion

場　所：新湊漁港の昼セリ、夢テラス海王、海王丸パーク、新湊大橋

雨が心配されたスタディーエクスカーションでしたが、当日は天気にも恵まれて留学生22名、日本人学生4名が参加した楽しいエクスカーションとなりました。学生たちは、新湊漁港で全国的にも珍しい昼セリの見学をし、かまぼこ工場では富山のかまぼこの歴史を学び、より深く富山について学ぶ機会となりました。海王丸パークや新湊大橋では学生同士で楽しそうにたくさん写真を撮っており、良いリフレッシュになったようです。

22 international students and 4 Japanese ones enjoyed the study excursion at this time. Luckily the weather turned out fine on that day despite it was rainy until just before. (It must be because of their daily good deeds!) Students saw "hiruseri", the auction sell of fish, at Shinminato fishing port. They also learned the history of "kamaboko", the local specialty of Toyama. It was the good opportunity for them to get to know more about Toyama, where they had chosen to study. We hope that all participants got refreshed and also came to like Toyama more!

国際交流サークル“パートナーズ”主催で行われました、10月新規入学留学生のためのウェルカムパーティーに、こんなにたくさんの学生が集まってくれました。会場では手作りのおはぎや巻き寿司、日本のお菓子がふるまわれ、初めて見る留学生たちは興味津々といった様子。始めはおはぎを不思議そうに眺めていた留学生たちですが、一口味わうと、その甘さにやみつきになっているようでした。 日本での生活にも慣れ始めてきた中で、同じ大学に通う学生同士交流を深め、良い息抜きができたようです。

How many people can you see in the picture? Many students, both International and Japanese, gathered to welcome the newly enrolled International Students. This Welcome Party was kindly organized by the exchange club "Partners". There were handmade Ohagi(rice cake covered with anko or kinako), Sushi-roll and snacks served for their munchies. Though almost all International Students ate "ohagi" for the first time, they enjoyed eating it. It was a good opportunity for them to have some fun with other students in University of Toyama, and also in getting accustomed to the new environment in Japan.

富山大学の国際交流サークル”パートナーズ”が企画しました “International Friendship Party” が行われました。国際交流に興味のある日本人学生や、富山大学の留学生が参加し、お互いに親睦を深めていました。夏休みにはいる前に、みなさん楽しい思い出ができたようです。

４月より国際交流センターの「日本語研修コース」にて日本語を学んできた６名の留学生による、これまでの日本語学習の集大成ともいえるスピーチ発表会が行われました。 パワーポイントを駆使しながら、“日本語で”自分が専門とする研究分野について説明する発表は、それぞれの専門分野だけに難しい内容ではありましたが、みなさん日本語でとても分かりやすくスピーチをしていました。 ホストファミリーや留学生、日本人学生もたくさん見に来ており、大成功のうちに幕を閉じました。

6 international students who have taken "Intensive Japanese Course" made presentations about their area of specialty "in Japanese".   Although it contained a little difficult part in their specialized field, they accomplished their Japanese speech presentations with clearly understandable terms.  Some host families and both International and Japanese students came to see their speech presentations, which finished with greatest success.

場　所：五百羅漢・富山市民族民芸村

今回は、６名の留学生と４名の日本人学生が参加しました。あいにくの雨模様でしたが、五百羅漢の紫陽花は見頃を迎え、留学生たちもたくさん写真を撮っていました。民芸村の見学では、ガイドの方による日本の伝統的な建物の造りなどの説明に留学生をはじめ日本人学生もみなさん熱心に耳を傾けていました。留学生ははじめて知る日本文化に興味を惹かれているようでした。また、日本人学生も改めて自国の文化に触れる良い機会になったようです。

Unfortunately it was raining but they enjoyed viewing and taking pictures of many beautiful hydrangea, which were in the best time to see. All listened earnestly to the guide from Toyama Municipal Folkcraft Village. International students got interested in much about Japanese cultures. Also, it was a good opportunity for Japanese students to come into contact with their own cultures.
