â â  You mean a bunch of royal dead guys are watching us?  â â  Oh, do lighten up.  â â  Why am I not loved?  â â  Your timing couldnât have been more perfect.  â â  Then you have sentenced us to death.  â â  Let me get this straight. You know her, she knows you, but she wants to eat him, and everybodyâs okay with this?  â â  I really missed you.  â â  You know, youâre starting to sound like my father/mother.  â â  You think you can just show up and tell me how to live my life?  â â  Would you stop following me? Who are you?  â â  Iâm not the one whoâs confused. You donât even know who you are!  â â  The past can hurt, but from the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it. I've been wondering lately
if a human soul were a sound, what would your soul sound like? Like, would it sound like rain? Or birds chirping? Or rustling leaves? Or tires screeching against the road? Or some melody or tune? Put it in the tags please because I need to know
The boy had a nice hook, heâll have to give him points for that. George swallowed back and cleaned his mouth with the back of his hand as he composed himself again to stand straight in front of him.
âI didnât want to call, okay? I wasnât in a good place, Danny. I was 18 and stupid. I couldnât live here more time with Mum and your dad and the uncles all judging me. They were all but telling me i was a failure.â
âI am sorry i left you two behind too, believe meâ
Danny unconsciously rubbed at his knuckles. Those would sting later. His expression softened a little, but still held quite a bit of hostility. His breath caught in hie throat at the mention of his father. He wondered for a second, did George know?Â
âHeâs dead. My dad. Killed in action. I was thirteen. We had a funeral for it, a lot of people came. And mum got really depressed afterwards, and I was practically raised by Uncle John and Uncle Michael and Jane for about a year. Mum tells me I look like him. Iâve got a picture. --Did you know about that? Did you know about any of that?â His voice is soft, and a little raspy, quite different from the angry screaming from two seconds ago.Â
Iâm gonna try and get Danny up and running again. Would anyone like a starter?
George didnât even wince as the other shoved him. He knew he deserved it. He welcomed it. For fuckâs sake, he had been practically away from half of Danny and Janeâs lives.
âYou knew i had to get awayâ he replied, still keeping his voice at a calm tone. It was useless, of course, sooner or later his temper would get the best off him and this will end up in a screaming match âI couldnât stay here anymoreâ
âYou could have called!â Danny practically screamed. And before he knew it, his hand had curled up into a fist and was flying at Georgeâs face. He didnât mean it, heâd realize that later, but for now, he was just angry. He had quite a bit on his plate, and Georgeâs return was the cherry on top.Â
âYou could have called! You couldâve told me and Jane where the hell you were! You could have told mum! Did you know she accidentally called me George the other day? She thought I was you!â His throat hurt from screaming, and he felt like he was on the verge of tears. He stepped back, breathing heavily. âWhy didnât you call us?â
âYou still havenât told her?â Jane asked, letting out a small sigh before going to sit down beside him. âDanny, maybe itâs better if you do go to university. Iâm not telling you what to do but, you know mum wonât approve.â
Danny let out a humorless laugh, âAre you kiddinâ? I canât go to university! Iâll be miserable.â No matter what anyone told him, there was no way Danny was going to college. He might in a few years, but not now. âI know she wonât approve. Iâm going to do it anyway. I just donât wanna face the week long lecture sheâs gonna give me.â
Yeah, they were definitely brothers, even if just half. Everything in Danny right now was a mirror of how George himself had been at that age: The defiance, the still child-like wonder in the eyes and the attitude.Â
âJust awayâ he explained again with a tense expression, not particularly eager to talk about himself just yet. He wanted to know about Danny, how he had been, what kind of person he was growing to be.
âThe States, mostlyâ
Dannyâs eyes narrowed. He was starting to get angry. George had been away for nine years. Nearly a decade, and he only explanation he had was, âjust awayâ?Â
âThe States? Just away? Thatâs not good enough George!â Danny was beginning to yell. Before he could think heâd strode forward and shoved his brother as hard as he could, âWhat the hell were you doing in the states for eight years without so much as a fucking phone call!â
Jane furrowed her brows at him, crossing her arms as she studied him for a moment. âWhatâs up your ass?â
âLetâs see. Finals are coming up, iâll be lucky if I graduate by the skin of my teeth, and I still havenât told mum that iâm not going to college.â Danny ran his fingers through his hair and sighed, âSo basically, everything.â

Danny isnât in the best of moods right now. Steely blue eyes look up at the other and he lets out an irritated breath, âWhat dâyou want?â
Iâm gonna try and get Danny up and running again. Would anyone like a starter?

When had he grown su much? Jesus, he remembered Danny as a small and excitable ten year old that couldnât focus for too long. But here he was now, all grown up and looking like him (Thank god they both had looked like their mother.)
Even the question- accusatory as it was- reminded him of himself
âThatâs a good oneâ he chuckled humorlessly âAwayâ he offered with a shrug and a hand wave.
Looking at his older brother, it suddenly clicked why sometimes Danny would catch his mother staring at him, only for her to look away a second later, and the reason that once, quite recently actually, she had accidentally called him âGeorgeâ. Danny had always thought heâd looked like his father, and he did, quite a bit actually. But he also bore quite the resemblance to George.Â
Danny stood up, resting resting guitar gently against the steps. He took a few steps until he was a couple feet away from his brother. They were nearly the same height. He had no idea wether he wanted to hug George, or punch him.
âAway where?â
Iâm gonna try and get Danny up and running again. Would anyone like a starter?
She canât help but LAUGH at his absentmindedness, taking a seat           beside her son, one foot tucked beneath her. TRUTHFULLY she           was very similar - when a good story had her in itâs hold, there was           NO TELLING when she would come up for air.
Ignoring his question ( there was no point in reiterating, really - all she                wanted to do was spend some TIME with her son ) she resisted the                urge to play with his blonde locks, as she might were he younger.
                    âWhat are you READING?â
A smile tugged at his lips as he sat up, setting the book down.   He sat cross-legged on the bed, running his fingers through his   already messy hair. He blinked a few times, still a bit disoriented   from being pulled out of the world the book had sent him into   and grinned at his mother, looking back down at the book again.
   âLord of the Rings.â

This was a mistake.Â
This was a hell of a mistake. He hadnât seen his brother ( or anyone from their family. At least his motherâs side) for the last few years and maybe that was good for all the parts involved.Â
So yes, he was being an idiot just thinking he could drop by and visit Daniel.
It was at least worth a try.
âHey, Danâ
Heâd been sitting outside with his guitar, picking lazily at the strings and singing softly under his breath. At almost nineteen, he had a few weeks until school was finished, and then he was done with school altogether. Danny had decided not to go to college. He had a band, they werenât bad, but they were good enough. Heâd decided to take his chances there.Â
He hadnât even noticed as his older brother approached him. At the sound of the all to familiar voice, blue eyes widened and his head shot up, staring with his mouth slightly open, surprise written all over his features. He stayed where he was, not entirely sure what he should do. He went with the first words that popped into his head.
â---Where the hell have you been?â
