“It’s okay, my parents have always been workaholics. All they care about is their big cases and stuff. I’m used to it by now.” Oliver shrugged. He smiled softly at Cillian’s words. “I know, and that’s the only family I need. I appreciate that, thanks.” Taking the lasagna out of the microwave, he placed it on the table. The plates were already set, so he just took a seat on one of the chairs and gesture for his friend to take the empty chair next to him. “Alright, let’s eat.”

He nods as he speaks. “I’m so sorry they don’t care about you. They haven’t bothered to try to find you?” He nods. “I adore her. She’s the most amazing little girl.” Cillian follows his friend. “Are you sure? I don’t mind. But lasagna does sound amazing.”

“No, they believed the lame cover up story I came up with. I asked my sister to tell them I was at rehab, but it’s been eight months now, I should have been ‘released’ already. And they didn’t try to visit, no even on my birthday. I gave them the name of a real rehab center, one where one of my friends works at the reception desk, she’d cover up for me if they ever showed up. But it’s fine. I have a family here now, don’t really need them.” He said, looking down at the ring on his finger. Oliver smiled at Cillian, nodding. “I insist, it’d be too much work.” He opened the refrigerator and took the lasagna out before pulling it on the microwave.

He smiles at him while he’s lost in thought. He can tell he’s thinking and he feels concern, but he doesn’t press it. “We both love her so much. He’s a great daddy even if he thinks he’s not.” He nods. “I can cook for us. No biggie.”

Oliver bit down on his bottom lip and decided to speak what was on his mind, noticing Cillian’s concerned look. “I just couldn’t help but to think about my parents when you were talking about Belle. I kinda miss them, even though they couldn’t care less about me.” He explained. “It’s easy to see how much you care about her just by the way you talk about Belle. I’m sure you’re both great daddies.” He said, smiling broadly. Getting up from the couch, Oliver lead his friend to the kitchen. “Oh, no. I wouldn’t ask that of you. I think there’s stil some leftover lasagna from yesterday.”

“It was absolutely awful. I missed her everyday.” He smiles. “She’s amazing. I did fireworks for her On the fourth. Her face just lit up. Her and Carter are my world. And Carter is so good with her.” He nods. “We all will definitely be there. I promise.”

Seeing how Cillian talked about his daughter made Oliver think about his parents for a moment. He had been in Todrick’s for eight months now and they didn’t even bother looking for him. Maybe he should have been used to their indifference by now, but even thought he tried his best to act like he didn’t care, it still hurt. Shaking his head slightly, he turned his attention back to his friend and their conversation. He smiled broadly at him. “That’s, great Cillian. I know you and Carter are gonna be amazing taking care of her. And good, I’m glad to hear that. Are you hungry? I can’t really cook but could get us some snacks.” He offered, letting out a small chuckle.

Oliver smiled as he watched Cillian interact with the puppies. “That’s amazing, man, I’m glad things worked out in the end.” He said, grinning. Summer went over to him and Oliver scratched behind her ears. “How old is your daughter? What’s her name?” He asked, looking up at the older male. “Thanks, we’re really happy!” Oliver said, excitedly.
