have definitely talked about this before but ash doesn’t view the knowledge of real / legal / dead names as a sign of trust or measure of closeness . legal names are not inherently intimate to him in the slightest because he abandoned his own when he was in the single digits and quite literally has never looked back on it , so the thought of addressing someone by their “ original ” name as opposed to a new name , alias , or nickname to indicate closeness doesn’t ever cross his mind as an option . # chosen names for the win

that brand of anime only additions where ash is much more brutal when it comes to his enemies really cheeses me . i can forgive alot of what is left out from the manga for some justified “ even though he only punches this guy in the manga , we’re gonna let ash stab him in the crotch with a fork anyway for the vibes ” and “ smack this guy with a pole ? no . drill to the chest ” moments to be honest i just think it’s fair .
