Carrie Preston Gets Creative at the Emmys: See Exclusive Pics!

Carrie Preston got a whole lot of love before and during the Creative Arts Emmys. The Good Wife alum, who was nominated for her second Emmy for her recurring role as Elsbeth Tascioni on the CBS legal drama, took over our Instagram account to give us an inside look at her trip to the annual awards ceremony, where she was both a nominee and a presenter. Preston started out her day with breakfast made by her “good husband” and frequent collaborator Michael Emerson. Preston also got some love (and some flowers!) from her TV family from the upcoming TNT pilot, Claws. She also shared snaps of herself getting the glam treatment and a first look at her stunning Rani Zakhem dress. By the way, we love a girl who will eat a Scooby Snack (or maybe a burrito?) even when she’s dressed to the nines. Disappointed in the S5 DVD set, though I feel TPTB rushed to get it out and to finally be done with the show, so they can move on.  Yeah… I’m bitter.

Here’s a scene cut from the aired version, hope this helps with the lack of bloopers, BTS, deleted scenes and other fun stuff. 

*EDIT*  Probably the lack of extras may be due to contracts expiring around the time the DVD was being put together and TPTB didn’t want to spend another dime on the show.  Jonah, Greg, Denise and Michael may have been the exception.

COMIC NEWS INSIDER 700 - RECAP! 

We recorded our big 700th episode of my podcast COMIC NEWS INSIDER on Sunday afternoon at Adella (my friend’s awesome wine bar right here in NYC). We had to do it in the early afternoon due to a work commitment. We weren’t sure we’d be able to swing it but it all came together last minute and worked out. As usual, we had some great guests with Michael Emerson, Carrie Preston, Fred Van Lente, Kate Rigg, Lyris Hung, Vera Greentea, Miss Lasko-Gross and Rafael Kayanan. And of course, what would an anniversary CNI episode be without some song parodies? Big ups to the CNI Chorus: Rachel Felstein, Kristen French, James Rodriguez, Tony Wolf, Emmy Potter and Amy Wolk. Big thank you to Tara Bracco for taking a majority of the pictures. 

Of course, none of this would be possible without Producer Joe Gonzalez doing all the tech and running everything. 

As for the recording, well…it went great! A couple of musical snafus (one on my part) but we played them off with the comedy. We hit some great harmonies too! Fred talked about some comics he’s working on and bringing back some old favorites. Michael chatted about the Person of Interest finale and what might be next. Carrie talked about some great projects she has coming up including one that she is directing starring Kate Rigg and Lyris Hung. Kate and Lyris did an awesome and funny improv spoken word bit with a nerdy slant. 

There was a bit of extra time so I called up a few cartoonist pals in the audience to briefly talk about their work. Nice end to a fun recording! 

I didn’t expect a big crowd due to the last minute-ness of it all and was pleasantly surprised by the turnout. Thanks to all whom participated and attended! I worked hard on it for a couple of weeks and wish we could do it all again.

Celebrity Extra: Interview: Michael Emerson on the Final Days of Person of Interest

“Person of Interest” has been a CBS mainstay for five years. Starring Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson, this sci-fi crime drama wraps up its fifth and final season June 21. While I’m sure the ending won’t disappoint, all roads leading to the series finale are paved with action and intrigue. Will the Samaritan (the rival AI to Reese and Finch) destroy The Machine (Finch’s AI) and keep its stranglehold on the world? I spoke with series star Michael Emerson recently — who previous to this series spent five years on an island as Ben Linus on the cult phenomenon “Lost” — and he told me all about filming the exciting, and brutal, final season.

Tuesday is Harold Finch/Michael Emerson day!   BTS at Battery Park in Dec 2015 for S5E13 maybe…. he has his flashback Finch glasses on.

I hope to post a photo of each of our wonderful cast this week.  It won’t heal the pain of this great shows ending. It’ll remind us what good TV can be when you have the right people at the helm, but only with a network that would appreciate them!  It was a fun 4 years watching POI film on the streets of NY and all the wonderful fans I’ve met.  Thank You!
