Nic’s obsession with film is very much set in his own failure to avoid bottling up his emotions. His highs and lows are drastic and he struggles, mostly, to process the lows ( which can be very prolonged and often leads to him isolating himself entirely for almost the whole period ). His interest in movies began with his mother, and his inspiration stems majorly from the films she showed him. Stanley Kubrick and Hal Ashby most notably altered his vision for most of the films he would work on ( beginning roughly around the age of 10, making films with his friends ). Later on he would engross himself in Tim Burton and Wes Anderson, his artistic vision often being driven by common motifs and colors to help continue stories and set the the movie in whatever perspective he wants. Otherworldly and vaguely artificial settings with massively relatable character with unsettling storylines are his favorites. I’ll write more on this at another time but ! Nic is a great filmmaker !

On Nic’s Relationship with His Parents

Romeo:

Despite a childhood spent idolizing and imitating his father, Nic grew into a certain dislike for the comparative narration they were often put into, by both media and family/friends. This, paired with inherited teen rebellion, leads to a strained relationship in his later years. Nic’s somewhat cutting and dark sense of humor doesn’t pair well with his father’s insecurities and often leads to fights or all out avoidance. Despite all of this, however, he does continue to adore him.

Veronica:

Nic is completely a mama’s boy, overly protective and eager to please. Even early in his childhood he was able to tell she was sensitive in more subtle and harsh ways than his father. She maintained a distance through his growing up that he always resented. Closed off as she is, he hates that the public knows as much about her as he does.

Both literary presences, his ability and opportunity to explore his more liberal and creative side stems wholly from their support and care, though hsi reckless behavior and lack of concern comes from a lax parenting style.
