Their only clue to retrieve their missing fourth member is a connection to her past. Miix’s former friend and Butler, Alyosha, joined their ranks. The four of them along with Yuna the K Corp Researcher who Miix pulled from their Distortion and Lazarus an old colleague of Miix’s father form a tenuously structured alliance…only to find that the target of their mission might be beyond recovering.

But in the depths of the fathoms, all will be revealed, after all, all is already known.

There’s no choice but to head home down a Department Head and without their tech expert who has sabotaged their equipment and stolen their healing ampules.

It is hosted in honor of the Leonis Family - a now fallen household though one true member remains alive.

Mr. Leonis has been permitted to bring up to three guests and, coincidentally, the three of you fit the bill. As you three come from the Backstreets, however, we feel the need to enlighten you on three points of decorum that folk such as you may not be aware of.

Be sure to treat the host with respect. This is not your domain, but theirs, after all, and we realize such a request may be beyond simple Backstreeters…but do try to oblige?

No weapons are permitted in this place. You will have to leave that cumbersome gun, gaudy wand, and oafish claw outside. Mr. Leonis, of course, is already aware he should leave his weapon behind, so there is no need for us to remind him.

Wear something nice, yes? You all hardly look dressed for a party held on U Corp’s beach. We expect that Mr. Leonis will ensure you are all freshened up and presentable.

The Mirror shattered, the shards scattered, the walking dead bought a little more time. Through the suffering, lives have been inexorably changed. Yet perhaps even if the great flow inevitably rushes towards the same point, it is the rocks we cling to along the way to slow our move down the river of fate that form something, that someone, might just call meaning to it all. Merru must grapple now with what's left, and what pieces he can pick up.

It is time to confront his contract, it is time to take responsibility, it is time…to return home.

The Managers have witnessed it all, been told a story of a man that spans every world, across every time, ending in the same inevitability. Struggling, fighting, and losing again and again they marched through the weeds and thorns to find their friend, lost in the miasma of his own mind and destiny. Merru is so close, and has never been further from them. It all ends today, fate cannot be so easily changed. Yet against the inexorable - does effort mean nothing, or everything? Answer this, and every other question, in the finale of the Canto. Today.

Merru's fate seems locked in the jaws of death firmly, perhaps, they consider, by breaking that destiny, they might still yet be able to find their friend - it's the only thread they can hold on to as they stumble deeper and deeper into the fathoms, through untold worlds.

What is next for them? What world will pull forward another Merru? Can he be saved?

To begin, allow us to do a writing exercise. Who are you? What are the most important moments of your life? How have they changed you?

Merru had no answer, or maybe he had an answer too vast and too complicated to put down with all the ink in the city - the end results were the same, the words struck a chord deep within the fractured man, a chance to escape this world… no, for the world to escape him and he to be free of it all. The weight of these memories, the responsibilities stuck to him like glue, and the people he dragged down with them.

Having left the facility behind, and now leaving Jackson behind, it was only fitting there were only four more souls in the city who he had to leave one last time. Ange with her concern for him that might yet doom her, echoing in his head from their last conversation. She won't need to worry any more anytime soon, the tool at his hip, the Bough in his grasp, very soon… the name Merru… well.

Let's not spoil his surprise for his friends.

So allow us to do one final exercise, Managers. Who are you? What is your most important memory with Merru? How did it change you?

The Fifth Trumpet [Project Moon TTRPG] Act III Episode II

The Inexorable Fate - A Dream, Dreamt, Discarded

Jackson, Rising Star of the Hana, has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging the Managers to a spar to prove their proposed capabilities. As tensions have risen to the breaking point, and Merru seems unwilling to fight - or put a stop to it, the Managers are forced to ready themselves for a spar. Words such as 'friendly' and 'light' have been thrown around, yet the temperature in the room tells a different story. Jackson is here to test them, to see if they are worthy of guarding what he sees as his most treasured connection.

Let us hope the Managers can last long enough to show their spark.

The Fifth Trumpet [Project Moon TTRPG] Act III Episode I

The Inexorable Fate - A Dream, Dreamt, Discarded

Their time in the facility now come to a close, the Managers have spent their time in a grueling act of constant training; the City has only gotten harsher and more dangerous with each passing day, and their close encounter with the pinnacle of the city left a bitter taste that can never be fully forgotten. 

Trudging on still, they follow up on a new, unusual, lead - Abraham, the Hana Director who once unknowingly lead them into Artemisia's trap, requested a 'favor' of them regarding a peer of his. Someone who had been trailing them for a while wished to meet Merru, promising no harm would come to Merru...which should be extended to any of Merru's companions who accompanied him. 

With few allies left in the City and a growing dread that dark forces are gathering in the future, the Managers set off once more to meet this mysterious contact, unaware that Merru's mind has begun to crack like the shards of a mirror in the background.
