What egos do you think would fit gillion, chip, and jay the most?
OMG. So sorry for getting to this ask so late š I forgot I hadnāt answered yet because I was still thinking about it.
Also. Uh. I- I am ashamed to admit that as a JRWI fan I havent uh. Actually watched Riptide. I skipped straight into BITB as my starter and never found the time for the grand pirate odyssey š
Regardless I love hearing about these guys via osmosis so I will make my best attempt! And thank you for the Ask! :D eheh JRWI x PM..
Tears of the Tarnished Blood
Impending Day and 9:2 for the Prophecy aspects, especially with the bloody burden of carrying out duty. Tears of the Tarnished blood for reasons similar to Effervescent Corrosion. I have a TON to say about Effervescent Corrosion. Clearly Gillion gets it because heās , Slimey. No but in all seriousness itās one of my fave EGOs thematically, but Iāll sum it up here as it pertains to Gillian : the pearl is simply the adornment and protection of oneās own insecurities. A speck of dust, or a ācontaminantā to the inner self that is coated over to protect the vulnerable flesh from its sharp edges and irritation. This contamination while dulled grows larger and larger and eventually becomes the sole duty of the self to tend to it, letting the rest of themselves turn āputridā. Others begin to desire this pearl, objectifying what it stands for with no regard for its formation out of protection or for its host except that itās precious to them. However, even then, others hesitate to reach out and interact with the pearl because of the putrid flesh around it, and the extremely tough shell guarding it. Anyways I feel like the above pertains a lot to our living weapon turned living shield. š also itās green and goey what can I say. Also no secrets here that Tears of the Tarnished is also here to back up the Gillion and Hong Lu similarities lol. Who up trying to be the ideal vessel for their elders and who as an object should have no opinions and only a title āŗļø as a side note I think he can share some of Pursuance and its themes with Jay lol.
Sunshower for his sopping wet orphan boy walking the streets filled with nostalgia for the past-ness. Also potential man ego. Asymmetrical Inertia because all the (I assume itās related to) backwards clock egos have something to do with trying to fix, return, or stop something in the past. The roly-poly abno being the type of self balancing toy that rocks and gets back up when hit. I like Heathcliffās line about how heās not off balance heās just swaying so that he can smack harder on the comeback. Feels rightfully Chip. Garden of Thorns. Hungry for nutrients, trying to get them from the environment/people that hurt and binds you. The logs say it encourages people to accept themselves, including their sins to become beautiful, show their color (much like Carmen hmm) and also because ha ha suffering like Jesus. Chip, this guy, heās died and come back and boy has he suffered. And then finally, Fourth Matchflame. We got the little matchgirl story to go off of, of dreaming of a better life and of a family, and then the saying āit takes a village to raise a childā as well as āthe child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmthā I like this two sided coin. Also just in general his self inflicted guilt over losing the place that was his home. And of course the inclusion of Chipās fire themes. As a side note I also really think Fourth Matchflame matches Jay as well. And also I think Chip can have a share of Blind Obsession for his goals and sailing straight into The Black Sea.
Ardor Blossom Star I love for Jay because 1. Fire themes of course. 2. Wings. And 3. Because while the associated dialogue talks of guides, we also get the impression from the logs that it embraces people because it both wants people to understand its hurt and share it, but also share its hope and warmth, ready to burn up in its desire to gain freedom and connect. Based off of moths that run straight into the flame I feel as this can be used for Jay entering the pirate world knowing of its dangers but driven by various warm emotions ranging from wrath to love. Indicantās Trial has our themes of Fire, and Justice, as well as duplicity. The āSwimming testā given to witches during the trials that either saw the girls drown as their penitence for innocence, or float and survive only to be burned at the stake for making it. Additionally the visual symbols of the masquerade mask and the burning chains and cage really sell Jayās escape from being just her fatherās spy into embracing her true freedom. But of course, punished and branded guilty for thriving instead of drowning and simply remembered as innocent. Magic Bullet for her marksmanship, as well as her focused drive and goals and the things that are or used to be sacrificed for it. I mean check out this flavor text! (Attached with the EGOs) Pursuance is mostly because I think the visuals fit Jayās wings tattoos and ability, but the prescriptive nature of being tasked with Justice and execution again brings up Jayās complicated past with rules in general. Aforementioned I think she and Chip can share Matchflame and Blind Obsession too. Her original blind obsession ofc being finding who was responsible for Ayva, though Iām co-opting that energy into Magic Bullet.
And thatās perfectly 10 imgs!
Anyway I might amend this post later should more thoughts and themes and EGOs come rolling in, but aa anyways thank you for the ask! I hope these made sense! I tried not ramble too long⦠also whoever you are out there, I am so curious about what ur, or any one else who is JRWI and PM pilled, your guysā assignmentsā¦
