Busted by the cops on a dirt bike
Gotta love police vs dirt bike videos since dealing with the cops has to be one of the worst things that can happen on a dirt bike ride, other than getting badly hurt of course. Here's a clip, after we finished riding a buddy wanted to try out the bike so like any good group of friends we made sure he had a camera on just in case. Needless to say the ride did not last long and he was back shortly with this hilarious clip. Thankfully the officer was nice and nobody got in trouble. How to change the oil on a 2006 Yamaha Raptor 700: Enduro Skills First step: Pull out the oil dipstick from the oil tank. Second step: Take off oil filler cap located on the right side of the engine. Third Step: Remove the 3 oil drain bolts. A. First is on the bottom of crank case near the middle. Might need to take off the skid plate to access the bolt.. This will let the oil out of the crank case. The size is 22mm, but I've also seen it be a 21mm. B. The Second drain point is on the bottom of the oil tank. This allows the oil from the tank to drain and is usually a 12mm but there are cases where it strips and has to be tapped out to a 13mm. Skid plate may need to be removed again, you can drill a hole for future access. C. Third one you should've already have opened, it's the bottom bolt that's holding oil filter cover on. Fourth Step: Wait for the oil to completely drain. You can shake it back and forth to help drain a bit but make sure you're on a level surface. Once the old oil drained out put all your drain bolts back in (If you are replacing your filer as well you will put the cover bolt back in when filter is replaced). The recommended torque is 17ft lbs on the crankcase drain bolt, 13ft lbs on the oil tank bolt therefore doesn't need a lot of force. BE VERY CAREFUL when you're tightening the bolts, the crank case drain bolt is known to strip easily. by Enduro Skills
Knowing how to replace oil on a four stroke dirt bike is a completely vital part of maintaining your thumper and getting the most out of your bike. It's truly essential you change the oil religiously on a 4 stroke as there's a ton of moving components inside the engine that have to be lubricated. In case you slip into the nasty habit of neglect your bike will find yourself on the sideline of not being able to ride or race since your bike is completely broken down and is ready to strip you of all of your hard earned coins for an engine rebuild. You have to basically read the owner's manual for the exact procedure for your exact brand/model of dirt bike as there's specific engine designs available requiring certain methods. Additionally, a few present day four stroke dirt bikes have one oil compartment and others have two. One for the transmission oil and one for for the engine oil. It is simple enough to find out whether your dirt bike has one or two oil compartments by counting the oil filler caps on your bike. Here's my steps to guide you on the right path of doing a successful oil change on a four stroke. I will be demonstrating this on my 2012 Kawasaki KX450F. First, run the dirt bike for a couple of minutes till the engine oil is nice and warm. This is to help it drain faster and better. Second, put a oil pan underneath the dirt bike and take off the oil filler cap. Unscrew the drain bolt on the bottom of the engine and allow the oil pour out. Tilt the dirt bike side to side to get all of the remaining oil out the engine. Third step, carefully take off the oil filter cover and remove the original filter. Don't forget the way it all sits in there when you take it off. Change with a brand new filter and ensure you rub a bit of new oil on the filter lip to guarantee an excellent seal. 4 STROKE OIL FILTER Spray the inner passage ways of the filter cap with brake cleaner to eliminate any gunk and debris that could block the flow of oil. Put the oil filter cover back in its place remembering not to over-tighten the bolts! If you happen to strip the threads you will kiss your $$ good-bye. Additionally, take a look at the rubber O ring/s - if they are worn and loose you have to change 'em. Tighten the drain bolt and top up with clean, good grade oil. You will likely want a funnel to stop you from spilling it all over. Look at your dirt bike guide for precise quantities although it ought to be written on the engine casing. You must take off the oil level test bolt after you've had the bike running to ensure oil flows out, signaling you've got sufficient oil in there. Tip: Use the best quality performance synthetic oil, doing so will save you money in the end but might cost a little extra up front. Wipe all mess away from the oil filler cap and tighten again in place. Now, whether or not your dirt bike has one or two oil compartments the method is very alike. You should change both engine and transmission oil at the same time, use transmission oil for the gearbox and synthetic high-quality engine oil 10W-40 for the engine compartment. On dirt bikes which have a dip stick connected to the oil cap to check the oil level - heat the engine up first then unscrew the dip stick. Clean dipstick with rag and put it back. Remember do not screw it back in. Doing so will give you a way better reading of your oil level.
