Sorry if this seems weird to ask, but how did you feel overall about Jacob Andersonās portrayal as Louis? Iām keeping the fuck away from S3 due to personal reasons, but how did you feel about him in S1 and S2?

I just donāt know exactly how to answer because it feels like being asked my opinion on the Count Von Count puppetās portrayal of Dracula lmfao like itās such a derivative entity I feel like itās impossible to really attach it to the source material in any serious way??
The concept of a black vampire from the south navigating issues of identity, power, and self acceptance is really awesome and interesting and would make a great story on its own! Unfortunately I think the grafting of those concepts onto Louis de Pointe du Lac of all people isā¦.offensive to both parties. Like, it does justice to neither of them LOL.
The fact that they kind of just gave Jacob Anderson a carte blanche to do whatever he wanted with the character will always rub me the wrong way, because that means like FROM DAY ONE, Jacob was never trying to be Louis. He was trying to invent an entirely new character.
So this is all to say!!! If I were to judge his portrayal of the character compared to the book I would say he misses the mark completely lmfao. Theyāve taken a character who was meant to be a vehicle for Anne Riceās grief, and they made him into a character driven by anger, resentment, and violence. They interpreted Louisā reticence as weakness, his existential dread as petty intellectualism.
But again. That thing is not my son. Thatās not Louis, just like Count Von Count is not Dracula. Peace and love to Jacob Anderson, I know heās pouring his heart and soul into the hollowed out husk of a character he was given, and thatās not his fault, butā¦ā¦ā¦.watching through seasons 1 and 2 myself, I donāt think there was a SINGLE second of screen time when I thought to myself āoh, thatās Louis.ā
