there’s an EXCITEMENT rushing through him as he stands facing his old, for LACK of a better word, ENEMY. but an ENEMY has the mercenary lusting for BLOOD and DESTRUCTION. GRAYSON ? hell –he’s just FUN.

desperation had been the thought ECHOING through his skull just as crimson eagerly pumped through his veins. as the wind seemed to carry his aching bones up, up, & up to the rooftop, dick felt his stomach turn into a cage for butterflies, & wondered if he could even get to the location without throwing up. his saturated indigo eyes still retained the gift of sight, but they seemed distant- not all there. it was as if he was watching a pocket-watch belonging to an illusionist, though a far more sinister, MALEVOLENT force was at work. grief. sorrow. remorse. failure. ❛ they’re dead. batman. & the robin i trained. ❜
tears tug at his eyes, but with a determined gaze they fall, silently, dick refusing to let their presence be known. there was no white flag DANCING with the gotham-stained air, & determination started rising in his throat. like hell he’d surrender. gotham still had people willing to fight- & even if his mentor & little brother were dead, so what? he’d fight like HELL to still save other lives. ❛ i hope you didn’t think that’d make me give up. i’ll never give up. & i wanted to let you know- you better be prepared, because i’m gonna fight for gotham. & stand up to people like you. ❜

“ you’re hurt—badly! ” the words FRANTICALLY spill out before dick can properly get to her, racing to where she had fallen & practically throwing himself on his knees in order to asses the wound. all he saw was scarlet, & mangled flesh around her torso- his breath HITCHING in his throat at the sheer severity of it. this wasn’t how the night was supposed to go. bright blue eyes welling with denied tears glance only briefly to the villain responsible for this- down. good. one thing out of the way.
“ hang on, babs. please just- focus on my voice, okay? you’ll get through this. ” a faked calmness washes over him as he hastily fumbles around in her utility belt for something- anything- that could help. normally in times of panic his brain copes with jokes or snarky comments, DESPERATELY clinging onto his false facade of coolness, but there was none of that this time. just racing thoughts as he attempts to somehow apply enough pressure to stop the bleeding. but the wound is big, gaping even, & some FEARFUL part of him can only see her as the corpse he is terrified she will become. “ du’ dera. li’ sa’ eer, du’ dera. ”
