The impossible task for people when it comes to fictional characters is the ability to accept and not pretend the really bad shit they did didn't happen while also still acknowledging they're not literally evil (do you really think you'd do much better?)

Like yeah Vinny literally got a kid killed. He's been through a lot but I cannot stress enough he got a kid killed. Probably horribly. When he did nothing to deserve it besides tell Vinny something he didn't want to hear or have spread around. He put cameras in people's houses and led people to their deaths and willingly tried to "summon" habit like he's fucking Herobrine. But he's not evil ☝ you have to understand that he was acting on desperation. Answers lead to knowledge and knowledge is power and he wanted control over a situation that he fundamentally cannot. He did horrible things in the name of this goal but to pretend that he didn't care or feel guilt ("lol he didn't feel bad for getting Shaun killed at all" "he killed his friend [jeff] and didn't give a shit") is missing the point that it DOES NOT MATTER IF HE FELT BAD. ACTIONS HAD CONSEQUENCES. YES he acted good. He ACTED like our friend but he was in it for his own survival because he needed that audience as protection which is FUCKED UP YES. But you would want to live too and I think you'd go a lot further to get there than you think you would right now. Like my god nuance for Vinny 2025 I love him. ok?

Vinny Everyman is not any worse than your other morally problematic faves the ONLY DIFFERENCE is that he was smart enough to hide it until the very end and you feel betrayed because you thought he was above putting his own life first. Which is foolish looking back at the things he was doing. He didn't want to put the camera down for a reason. But like whatever *flips hair and starts crying into my hands over this stupid fucking character I love*

You hate him because he was smart enough to make you think that persona of his was real. You thought he was this altruistic selfless guardian because in some sense, I think that was partly to make the audience feel better for BEING A PART OF THE VOYEURISM. Because you're watching "the good guy." NOW you have to sit down and think about what you were really watching and what you were really feeding into. You can throw all of that blame onto Vinny if you so choose, you can be mad and betrayed, but I'm just saying he needed the camera (THE AUDIENCE (US)) for a reason ☝and in retrospect we really should have known better but we didn't think about it did we 😁 and he knew we wouldn't and he used it to his advantage. because he is smart .
