i wanna write this (or an australian gold rush au, which takes place in nearly the same year) but i keep getting sucked into various wikipedia pages
but like you have furiosa as a rare lone woman not doing domestic tasks or running a boardinghouse/restaurant/etc (the girls run a boardinghouse & cook &etc and end up making the most money out of all of them lol) but instead of fucking course she’s gonna be out there prospectoring under the hot sun, working her claim and quietly accumulating as much gold as she possibly can
and then there’s max, who probably got a bum claim early on and realized there was a way to make a living some other way- can i combine this with the mailman au prompt? fuck it i’m gonna- so he’s like, delivering mail all over the colony with his faithful horse & dog, making a living but definitely not getting rich
furiosa doesn’t get much mail herself (the vuvalini are back east?) but obviously she’s gonna see him around, and he’s gonna see her around- i feel like she mostly stays out of town to save money, but maybe visits like once a week to resupply & have a bath, and if her weekly visit just so happens to coincide with max’s mail route well isn’t that just a nice coincidence
max probably had moved out to california (or suitable australian town for that version) years earlier with jessie & sprog (who died on the trail??? oh shit mad max: oregon trail) so he knows the area and quietly shows furiosa a potential motherlode for her to stake a claim at and she’s like “don’t you want it for yourself?” but he doesn’t he just wants a quiet life……………….. with her
anyway they bang a lot, in various places, possibly there is gold dust on naked bodies involved at least once
definitely at some point joe tries to steal furiosa’s claim/profits- or assaults the girls??- and she & max team up to kill him & bury the body(s) where it’ll never be found
