Everything changed the day Amira was born.
The world outside was collapsing — bombs, dust, screams, and fear. Yet inside a small room, by the dim light of a single candle, a new life began.
While others were running for shelter, I was holding my newborn daughter, trembling, crying, trying to believe that something so pure could still exist in a place like Gaza.
I named her Amira, because I wanted her to feel like a child of life —not a child of war.
A year has passed since that night, but nothing has really changed
Our house is still rubble, our streets still carry the smell of smoke, and the sky still echoes with sounds that make Amira flinch in her sleep.
She has just turned one.
She’s learning to walk, holding my finger with her tiny hand, laughing at the smallest things — as if she doesn’t see the destruction around her.
She doesn’t know the word “loss.”
She never met her father, but when she smiles, I see him there.
Sometimes I watch her sleeping, and I wonder what kind of world she will grow up in — whether she will ever know what peace feels like, what home smells like.
And yet, when she opens her eyes in the morning and says “mama,” everything becomes bearable again.
I want to rebuild our home.
Not just for the walls — but for her future.
For Amira to have a small room, a safe place to dream, a life that belongs to her, not to war.
I’m not asking for much. Only for a chance to give her a beginning filled with warmth instead of fear
My name is Saja. I am a mother, a wife, and just one of many women in Gaza trying to hold on — to hope, to my family, and to a life that no
A Mother’s Message
To everyone reading this — thank you for listening to our story.
Your kindness means more than words.
Every share, every message, every donation — it all helps me rebuild not just a house, but a future for Amira.
From the heart of Gaza, from a mother learning to hope again —
we will live. And I will make sure my daughter grows up in a world that knows love more than war.
I feel like this would be an AU where both you and Luffy got sent to Amazon Lily after the Archipelago incident.
Maybe you tried to shield him from Kuma only to get you both caught?
Point is you end up being the only crew member sent with Luffy to Amazon Lily... Which subjects you to the chaos he ends up causing there.
I'm going to be honest... This is one of those requests that actually changes depending on Darling's gender.
Which doesn't happen often.
I say this because canonically people who aren't women are typically treated with curiosity/caution on Amazon Lily.
You act like a voice of reason when trying to keep Luffy under control on the island... yet you just end up being dragged along by Luffy who views this as a new adventure.
In this scenario Luffy does have a crush on you... but I highly doubt he understands the feelings he's experiencing.
He just finds spending time alone with you fun as he causes chaos through the island while trying to find a way back to your crew...
Until you're both captured.
When you get caught there's two options that dictate what you could end up going through.
You might be sent to fight Hancock's sisters beside Luffy in the arena as punishment...
Or Hancock deems you an outsider yet mostly innocent and just keeps you tied on the sidelines.
This rivalry is a bit messy after Luffy proves himself.
I say this because in canon Hancock falls for Luffy.
Yet in this fic Luffy loves you... Which Hancock probably picks up on due to how protective Luffy ends up getting while you're both on Amazon Lily.
Hancock may originally view you as competition for Luffy's attention.
You're one of his crew members and often have Luffy hovering around you.
She originally tries to take it out on you, cornering you to interrogate you on what you are to Luffy.
You swear you're just friends with your captain and haven't even considered romance with him.
Hancock originally doesn't believe you, often bringing up that Luffy defends you often.
You try to explain that Luffy is protective of all his crew... but maybe she knows something you do not, hm?
Hancock probably only stops antagonizing you when Luffy confronts you.
Seeing her fight with you sets something off in your captain... which ends up with him practically scolding her while tucking you behind him.
Afterwards things are still tense... but you're treated with the same respect as Luffy is.
You're given your own place to sleep in Amazon Lily, you're fed well, you're given freedom.
Although you spend most of your freedom being dragged around by Luffy who is excited to have food and a place to explore.
I imagine you spending more time in Amazon Lily and probably surviving Impel Down together would be what changes Hancock's behavior towards you.
During the Summit War Arc you no doubt end up trying to protect Hancock in order to help Luffy.
Seeing you protect her despite what she's done to you... It no doubt makes her rethink her feelings towards you.
You really are loyal... even trusting your captain to leave you alone with her so you can make sure she's okay.
The actual rivalry ends up happening after Ace's death in Marineford.
This is where Luffy is mourning after watching his brother die in front of him.
Since the only people he really has to live for is his crew... You end up being the person he clings to the most.
Doesn't help that he still has no idea how to comprehend the attraction he has to you... He just knows he likes having you close.
Hancock does her best to support you both once she's over her jealousy.
You really are a good member of his crew... You care for him... you care for her....
That last part ends up being what she starts to obsess over for the next two years.
The rivalry ends up developing during the timeskip as Luffy trains with Rayleigh.
You end up spending a lot of your time on Amazon Lily with Hancock... but also visit Luffy with help from her.
Visits with Luffy often make your captain excited.
He talks to you about how excited he is to meet up with the rest of the crew again.
He tells you he's been learning so much with Rayleigh when it comes to Haki and new Gears for his abilities.
You always praise him... something your captain preens at with flushed cheeks.
Such an interaction makes Hancock surprisingly jealous...
But not for the reason you think.
When you aren't visiting Luffy and his ruthless training regimens... Hancock keeps you on Amazon Lily.
She's grown close to you... close enough to spoil you.
She's appreciative that you're willing to help her around the island for the next two years while your captain trains.
She starts to become friends with you... often speaking to you about all sorts of things.
Something that often comes up is what the plan is once the two years are up.
Will you and Luffy be leaving? Do you have fun on Luffy's crew? Does Luffy love you?
There's even times she straight up asks if Amazon Lily is better than being with the Straw Hats.
It's an... odd question.
For the next two years you often stay with her, the empress often spoiling you.
When you're able to talk with Luffy you tell him about how weird she's acting... How she keeps trying to distract you from your plans.
Luffy's definitely... frustrated when he hears this.
Not only is Hancock trying to distract you... but it sounds like she's trying to win over his favorite crewmate.
Luffy has enough understanding over his feelings to feel genuinely jealous and betrayed over the fact Hancock is pulling such a thing.
Essentially in this rivalry Hancock spends the next two years trying to convince you to leave the Straw Hats in favor of her...
Meanwhile Luffy is getting clingy towards you, whining at you to not leave him.
You're forced to decide between being spoiled forever or your loyalty towards your crew....
Either side isn't going to give you up without a fight either.
When it's time to go back to Sabaody Archipelago to meet the crew... There's some issues.
Hancock keeps asking Luffy if she can keep you.
You're such a big help to her and her duties and she promises she'll keep you safe.
Luffy can even visit you if you stay.
Luffy isn't one who likes to leave crew members behind though... as seen with the WCI arc and Sanji.
His response is obviously a resounding no.
In fact Luffy probably wouldn't care if he had to fight Hancock to keep you with him.
You belong in his crew... and he loves you too much to let you just walk away.
Luffy's immune to Hancock's charm so he isn't scared to defeat her if it means keeping you on his crew.
Hancock's disappointed by this... she thought Luffy would understand.
But it looks like she'll have to turn you to stone in order to keep you to herself, huh?
End A - Luffy
For fun, let's talk about two different ways this could end.
The first one is Luffy winning, an end I'd probably consider good.
Hancock loses their battle and reluctantly lets you and Luffy go.
You're given a ship, the marines are distracted... and you both go to meet the rest of the crew.
Luffy is clinging to you the whole time, rambling about how much he missed you and how he never wants to leave you again.
The trip to the archipelago takes a while... but it feels longer with Luffy clinging to you the whole time.
Who knows... maybe while you two are alone on the boat Luffy decides to figure out how to properly show his feelings towards you?
You'll be relaxing, excited to see the crew.
Only for Luffy to snuggle up beside you with a giggle.
Your captain stares up at you and you're unsure of what exactly he wants...
Until he kisses you softly.
It's... extremely inexperienced.
He's going based on instinct and it just ends up messy.
You pull away and ask him just what the hell is he doing.
He then grins.
"What~? I love you! And... Rayleigh told me that was a way to show it...."
Ah, of course....
Rayleigh heard Luffy was jealous as it was affecting his training.
As a result his mentor took pity on him and told him about affection.
Clearly he's in love... and maybe it was getting time to confess?
You're flustered... but you accept his confession.
To your knowledge this was better than the incessant spoiling Hancock kept giving you.
So as the boat sails you let your captain cuddle you... Looks like you have a lot to tell the crew.
You won't regret this... not when your captain is this cute with you...
Nothing bad will happen... right?
End B - Boa Hancock
This ending I'd consider the darker ending.
Hancock ends up overcoming Luffy and forces him to leave you behind by forcing him on a ship.
You try to follow him but are quickly held back.
"Don't worry, love... I can give you a much better life than that man ever could."
Hancock continues to treat you as she's been treating you the last few years.
You're given no boat, you're just dragged back to follow the empress just like she claims you're meant to do.
She tells you she adores you, she spoils you and keeps you in a room all to yourself.
Luxury is shoved down your throat, like it or not.
She covers you in kisses, she holds you tightly... You're treated like her beloved.
While Luffy gets to meet the rest of your crew... You're forced to be a Kuja pet.
If you resist her? Hancock has ways of keeping you to herself.
She can lock you in her room until you learn your place....
Or if you keep running?
Then maybe she'll have to charm you... turn you into stone to keep you.
The methods she keeps you to herself doesn't really matter...
As long as the empress has you to herself... She's a happy woman.
I need more Rei and Masumi interactions, actually. Like yesterday. He gives off such obnoxious big brother vibes and she seems only mildly bothered by it. It's a very funny dynamic to me.

Coai week prompt: Family (friends)
I'm of the firm belief that there's two main kinds of fanart that we really need more of in this community - and that is: elegant, classy Shiho in casual Vogue-like poses, and family-style pictures of the Detective Boys with ShinShi as the parents.
So here's my first try at one of those.
