W rendering, I always start with my values (so just plain old grey scale) and that includes shading so it may look something like this:

and it just rly helps me separate my shadows and worry about the bigger shapes rather than the color changes. then, I’ll work w a gradient map (or just two colors maybe even one) rather than referencing anything specific. This way, not only is my palette more cooperative but I can make it look pretty 🤠

Kinda like this (after lots of adjusting on saturations) A second tip I like lots is to just go crazy with the lasso tool OR just any big brush you have — the main goal is to make the rendering look coherent rather than detailed, for me. kinda like this:

Where you can tell it’s a boot BUT it’s just blurry or hard textured brushes loosely layered.

OK OK and my last and fun tip, it’s to add vibrant hints of color to focus areas! kinda like this:

Where I added hints of pure reds and pinks to the flesh and tenna’s tv head. Sure, it’s usually a pastel purple base, and reflections wouldn’t usually create such drastic color, but I just used it so sparingly it looks relatively natural yet catches the eye. hope you enjoy these tips, and yall let me know if I should do more 🤠
