Visiting the in-laws’ in Maine, they begin naming the mountains that are visible across Goose Cove. “That one with the eyes looking at us? That’s Oranbega."

*spit-take* “It’s what?"

“Norumbega."

I know I misheard, but it's so close that I have to google it. Apparently Norumbega was a large, rich native city shown on early maps of the New England coast—later edited out when it couldn't be found. Some maps even spelled it "Oranbega." Norumbega mountain, pictured above, is named after the legendary city.
