WIP - Columbo tapestry!! 12 epi which I've never done before (only used 8 and 6 before) so this is an adjustment. I'm glad I did it this way, I need it for the tiny shapes and his face will be difficult. I do miss being able to bundle more to make color options. I'm using 2 strands of Gist Array, compared to 3 strands for 8 epi. On the other hand, my main concern is his skin but from these images, the hand is looking like it'll work. Reminder to myself to step away from the loom to look sometimes...

Started the cigar 🚬 and the hand is looking pretty good so far I think. I am hating sewing slits however and would like to give it up (I’ve never sewn slits, always just let the holes be haha) so we’ll see..

Do you have any recommended courses or online videos for learning tapestry weaving? I myself am particularly interested in ones that have a lot of different colours and shading and such, how to do that. Thank you for any help! I love your work

The only classes I've taken have been Rebecca Mezoff's classes. https://rebeccamezoff.com/online-learning She's great, I would definitely check her out if you are interested. She has a variety of classes, some for beginners and others for more experienced weavers.

I recently bought Warp and Weft and mean to start it this year, once I get through a little project I'm working on. Warp and Weft is her in-depth tapestry basics course. I think I have the basics down already hah but want to do a course like that since I was mostly self taught at first and I want to sort of go backwards and get a proper foundation.

If her courses are out of your price range, she's got tons of videos on her Youtube as well.

Hi! I recently started to follow you and I don't know anything about your tapestry diary. Do you have a tag I can check out? I want to learn to weave and this concept sounds so fun ! C:

Hi :) I think I have most of my posts about it tagged as 'tapestry diary' but I may have forgotten to tag some. If you search my blog for 'diary' they should show up. Or just scroll through my blog since I haven't posted a ton of posts overall haha.

Tommye Scanlin is the weaver I saw doing tapestry diaries and is why I started mine. She has a book called Marking Time which is about her diaries and other textile/fiber artist's daily practices. She also has posts on her blog about her diaries too. She's been doing them for 17 years!!!

It's been really good for me. I've always resisted a daily practice in any art form I've done. This is the first one to stick. I only missed one day. I made sure to give myself easy days - every fifth day is a simple stripe instead of the square with the design. And any time I was rushed I just did a simple gradient or something instead of imagery. Which is fine because it's still practice and that's the point of it. Ideally I wanted to record something about my day but sometimes I don't have time/energy to think about it.

I've been thinking about doing a letter each day for the next year. But I'm afraid that'll be really difficult...

I'm trying to decide how I'm going to finish my tapestry diary. It's about 5.5 feet long now and it'll have the final chunk as well. So a little over 6 feet long. I don't know how I'll connect the pieces, especially if I want to hang it. I didn't weave headers so I can't easily sew them together. They're each different lengths too so I think they'd look funny hung next to each other. I didn't think about this part when I started. hmmm

At least I have almost all of the ends sewn in!! :)
