been fishing a lot with my rod and my little spinner lures, bringing a thermos of coffee and sitting for 2 hours on the little boat in the little forest lake of the neighbour. No one is there cause it's private, and it's more peaceful than anything. I feel so good fishing, sometimes I play music from my phone, but not so loud so as to scare the fish.
onwards. Working hard on this farm I arrived at a week ago. Still interning, still not getting paid, but will be spending no money here at all I see now, except chocolate and gas, and i'll be here for 3 months. Many other volunteers/woofers here, and I feel good about not technically being a woofer but a true farm intern for stupid reasons, and then also again co-living with many variants of the organic farm enthusiast armada as known and co-worked with before. the farm does scything and horse drawn ploughing/raking etc. Amazing owners of this farm who are absolutely chill and very interesting and inspiring, they live in a little house of their own next to the volunteer house. General no seed oil attitude, aversion to sunscreen, some very dubious sourdough loaves and a minidrama about buying plastic containers w. nonorganic ice cream, and today also while eating that ice cream I was publically shamed for wanting to try cherry snus. I am delighted in the spectacle and also a bit exhausted to be in this kind of social environment again, but I was just 4 months in New Zealand on a farm where I was so much alone in comparison, so I think this is healthy, especially when I just do my own thing all the while.
Starting work at 6, in the barn. one of the chores is feeding the 2 calves, one 2 months and one 3. the little one still gets milk, fed from a bucket with a nipple, as the farmers separate them from their mom very early. and i pet them while they get their breakfast and their dinner, so they get more used to human contact. And today I learned that cows as well as horses don't have communication across the left/right brain, so if you pet them on the right side all the time, they will still be startled if you then touch them on the left. so you have to pet them on both sides. that somehow feels relevant to the universe at large and it was the most interesting fact of the day.
i would be a wonderful blogger if i blogged

"The Davidson Residence designed by architect Robert Thiele and artist James Hubbell, and hand-built by the homeowners, is one of only a handful of structures to see the designers' (as Earth Form Builder) visions fully realized. Singular in its vision and execution, the home is as much a respite from urbanity as a chapel to the surrounding native flora and seasonal stream."
