Fantastic Beasts and Where to Hide from Them

Concern for the wolves. Strange, but not unwelcome.
“This can be a strange and dangerous place, both at night and in the day, little one. Being careful is very important. You may not get a second chance like this, the next time.”
Having this much concern for a ‘natural’ denizen of the city is especially rare. Not since Connor had he seen such an attitude. “I do not know for sure. They could simply be upset. There are some in this city that seem to exist just as an experiment by those above.”
What a darn tootin’ terrible thing that was, if you do say so yourself. And you do. Both aloud to this extremely-tall-but-less-frightening-by-the-moment tower of a shadow, and to yourself.
You look toward the wolves, who are cowering, too scared to move since--really--who could run fast enough to escape the cosmic knight’s grasp? All he’d have to do is put his hand out a little farther than last time and repeat the firm pet from before. They were probably just waiting for him to leave.
Even with his warning ringing in your ears, even with everything going on, the fact that the wolves are likely more upset than murderous makes your sympathy outweigh your fear--at least, while the knight is close enough to protect you. You toss four peanut butter crackers from your jacket to them, and watch as they snap them up with far too many teeth for a regular wolf, but it’s...cute.
“I’ll be sure to stick to the streets next time; though, something tells me murderous death is waiting pretty much everywhere in this place.”
You sound more nonchalant about that than you really feel, but you take things in stride pretty well. “But existing just as an experiment...so you mean they’re not kidnapped?” Abducted. Seized. Wrangled.
