Just checking.” Mary Kate nodded, asking, “Do you think someone’s already got that on hand, or am I going to have to ask a costume designer to get one made for me?”

“Hey I’m smarter than that” She laughed, although not mentioning she once almost did that by accident. “Yes I do know that” She rolled her eyes playfully. “Well I don’t know why the costume designer would have one at all, so you would probably have to have him make that from scratch” She laughed.

“You’ll never believe it! He was being so full of himself. So much that he actually started to like…say I was lucky to talk to him or have him look my way. if that’s his idea of flirting he needs help.” she huffs.

“Guys suck at flirting and when they do flirt they pretend they’re god or something. Thats why I go for girls, they don’t act like that usually” She rolled her eyes. “Well I’m glad I got him away from you anyway, I don’t want anyone like that near my friends”

“It would be hard to juggle but I wouldn’t mind too much if they wouldn’t. Plus it means I get options, but thats kinda rude now that I think about it.

“So? Stuff’s different now!” Nova insisted, a giddy grin on her face from being let in on a secret. “What makes you think she definitely likes girls? What makes you think she doesn’t like you? Tell me more, tell me more!”

She nodded. “Oh yea, things are definitely different.” She sighed and shrugged her shoulders. “Well for one she said something to me about not having a girlfriend and being pissed” She laughed. “I don’t know, I’ve never really been in a relationship before” She shrugged shyly. “I’ve never really kissed a girl either, so why would anyone like me?”

“Just a little chewy, nothing we aren’t used to,” Freddie joked, wondering if there was any lobster mac and cheese hiding in the fridge, too. But she’d have remembered if they served it recently, so she asked instead, “Come on, there’s gotta be one weird thing you like, at least, which one’s got your tastebuds lit?”

“I guess so.” She shrugged casually. Claire wondered if they were really allowed to take the leftover food from the kitchen to eat whenever they wanted, or if that was just something the Isle kids did. “Something weird I like? Well I really liked that weird bagel I had at breakfast. With the cream cheese and that weird fish on top, I think it was called smoked salmon or something”

Maddy was surprised - but she certainly wasn’t going to complain about this. There was - something going on between them, and while she hadn’t expected this - she found herself pulling Claire closer, relaxing into the touch and the kiss. When it ended and Claire pulled back, Maddy found herself a little too close to pouting, “Hey.. don’t say sorry.” Her face was flushed, a light pink on her cheeks, “I.. liked it.”

Claire didn’t know what she was feeling or what was going on, all she knew was that she liked Maddy. She liked being around the blonde and talking to her, and she really enjoyed kissing her. “I did too” She said softly, blush on her cheeks. “I’m usually too awkward to do things like that” She admitted. “I don’t know what came over me”

Aubrey has a thankful smile crossing her face as soon as Clair is even heading in her direction. She trusts that a rescue is about to happen and she can’t wait to get away from the guy. “Oh of course! Dumb of me to forget. You’ll have to excuse us, we have to go.” she speaks quickly not even looking back in the guys direction.

Claire smiled and pulled Aubrey away from the guy. “Now that you’re safe, do you mind telling me what I was saving you from? You looked pretty desperate to be rid of him” She said softly, in case the guy could overhear her”

Aubrey looks away from the boy to her left and looks directly at the person across from her. She can’t believe this guys gall. Looking directly at the person opposite and not the boy attempting to chat her up she says to the guy at her side. “Oh really? And why should I be lucky to have you even look my way?” Her eyes yelling ‘help’ as loud as she can think.

Claire caught Aubreys eye and could see instantly she needed help. She smirked and walked over, wrapping her arm around the girls waist. “Hey Aubrey I’ve been looking for you everywhere! We have plans right now remember?” She smiled warmly at the girl.

Claire raised an eyebrow and shrugged her shoulders. “I’m not doing anything, why?”

“Oooh, so it’s a specific her?” Nova teased, always curious, always wanting to know more information. “Tell me who it is! I could give you advice!” Probably terrible advice, given her lack of romantic experience, but she liked feeling like she was helpful anyway. “Or at least snoop out if she likes girls, too!”

Claire felt her face go red. “God dammit!” She muttered, biting her lip nervously. She too a breath and swallowed hard before leaning in to whisper. “Maddy Cigam, from the Isle” She said softly. “I think she likes girls too, but I don’t think she would like me she never even noticed me back on the Isle”

“If you say so,” Freddie shrugged, not sure why people thought Frollo of all people was so bad. So what if he waved crosses at people and threatened to light him on fire? So much as she knew he’d never actually done it, not like her dad had brought things over from the other side to fuck with people. But whatever, everyone had their own beef. “You tried it, right? I know the texture’s a little weird but it’s kinda killer.”

Claire had her reasons for hating her father and she knew others did as well. He wasn’t one for empty threats, if you made him mad he would punish you and since he never did the punishments himself the people who were off his radar would be clueless to the truth. “Yea I tried it, it’s weird though”

“Well I might be a bit strange - but not that strange..” Maddy laughed softly, shaking her head slightly. Honestly she enjoyed be a little ‘strange’ it made her unique. Her eyes lit up as she watched Claire, grinning at her laughter and her actions, “See. Now you look even -“ Her words trailed off as she was honestly surprised by what followed next, although she certainly wasn’t going to argue. Instead her hands drop to Claire’s sides - tugging her closer as Maddy returned the kiss. This was certainly not something she was gong to complain about.

Claire was about to remove herself from Maddy and run right out of the room, but then she felt a pair of hands go to her side and tug her slightly closer. She slowly wrapped her arms around Maddys neck and felt herself relax slightly. A moment later she finally pulled away and stared at the girl dumbfounded. “I don’t know what came over me. I’m sorry” She whispered

Maddy was enjoying this more than she had expected to, it was rather fun - and sure she didn’t know half of what she was doing until Claire actually showed her what to do. But hey - she was always going to get to eat some in the end which was fun - and as a total bonus, she was really enjoying this time with Claire even if it was making her feel all kinds of strange. “Like I would say no to eating leftovers…” she grinned and leaned against the bench as Claire slipped the finished trays into the oven and watched as she came back over to her. “Fingers are acceptable right? Or do we need to eat it ‘classy’ like?” As she spoke she dipped her fingers in a little left over dough - a slight smirk tugging at her lips as she raises her hand. With barely a pause she reaches out, tapping a dough covered finger to Claire’s nose. “It suits you..”

“I would consider you a strange human being if you said no” She laughed warmly. “Of course fingers are acceptable! How else would you eat raw cookie dough? With a fork like an animal?” She teased. Claire laughed at the action and wiped the cookie dough from her nose with a smile. She stuck her finger in her mouth and ate it happily. “Delicious” She smiled. Claire didn’t know what came over her next, she felt like someone else was controlling her movements since, under normal circumstances, she would never do what she did next. Claire, out of sheer impulse, grabbed the girl’s face with both hands and kissed her hard on the lips.

This feeling was an odd one, she honestly couldn’t place it. It was weird  - but weirder still - it was  nice feeling and she liked it. How strange. Still she tried to ignore it, focusing instead on the task that Claire gave her - wanting to try and do her best at the little things she was being told to do, she carefully made each one and placed them down carefully - shooting a small smile at the other girl. “I think I might have found one of my favorite parts of cooking then.. I get to eat the left over parts and the finished product.” Her eyes lit up as she spoke, her grin widening as she happily finished with her portion of the batter they had.

Claire focused on making her small cookies, occasionally glancing at Maddy. She had a weird feeling shooting through her stomach and she felt a bit shyer then usual. “Well that’s always the best part of baking is eating the leftovers” She chuckled, putting her last cookie onto the tray. “And cookie dough is always the best thing to eat raw.” She smirked, grabbing the trays and sliding them into the oven. She set the timer and walked back over to Maddy. “Alright now we just wait 15 minutes” She smiled, “Wanna eat some of the leftover dough?”
