Clairo: chicago. š
āyouāre so polite!ā thank you i have anxiety
š± ÉŖį“essage ā jacob elordi
jacob: it's a compliment, twisted, but definitely one. i don't know, some days i feel like i have imposter syndrome with not believing this is really what i'm doing for a living. i can't speak for them but that's just my experience alone. yeah. i can imagine it's cathartic to release all those ideas onto some sort of physical surface to let go of it, in a sense? and seeing it come to fruition out on stage? i don't believe i could even hold myself together, having to revisit it time and time again.
jacob: being the size of a literal giant isn't truly all it's cracked up to be. if it's not one thing, it's another. walking through doors normally, constantly hovering over nearly everyone you know, and constantly being teased about how the weather is up here. i genuinely don't know how you handle the blisters and foot cramping in those feet traps. kudos to you. what can i say? i'm a man of the people.
claire: not that imposter syndrome is a good thing at all but i think its good that things arent getting to your head and you're still down to earth. its important we dont lose sight of where we came from or who we are. it can be tricky, i have a lot of songs revolving around my mental health, which 9/10 chances isnt always at its best, but those are the ones my fans connect to most and talk to me about on internet or in person. i put it out there now to not only bring awareness but knowing if theres a small chance that my vulnerability helps someone else through their struggles, it is absolutely worth it. that and the gay anthems lmao!
claire: i can imagine its more frustrating than anything. i know i would ALWAYS be knocking my head off things which is the worst. i'm sure you have plenty sarcastic one-liners you can hit back with! i've only ever gotten blisters from breaking in boots or shoes that are tight around the back of my heels and ankles. i have so much scarring lol. heels arent worth it to me, most wear them to accentuate their legs more than add height bc they just look good on us. i will only wear heels for really important events, like, red carpets or award shows or something. just bc they do really hurt after half an hour. nothing too crazy in height tho
Clairo:Ā i literally still cannot believe we not only headlined but sold out mf radio city music hall last weekend. wild.
š± ÉŖį“essage ā sydney sweeney
sydney: well, the fun part being paired with being able to do what you love probably counteracts most of the downsides which is a good thing
sydney: youre right. its living off of people buying ONE thinking that it'll work. and the cycle just continues.
sydney: its good that you're enjoying yourself, that's the important part!
claire: it definitely does. doesnt feel like work at all, but work is still work and we're only human. we get tired
claire: maybe it does work on everyone but me, who knows. lol. i dont think ive heard anyone ever say its worked for them. people usually just buy those starbucks fraps in glass bottles
claire: for sure!
š± ÉŖį“essage ā lydia night
lyd: also the excitment in the crowds? i love that kind of stuff.though I think we never really get over the stage fright, we just get better at hiding it. I'm sure you are doing great though as even more time goes on.
lyd: the guy that sings it, makes the song so catchy. what was your favorite verse? just curious!
claire: i hear it turns into adrenaline overtime which would be nice. i love excited jitters too but some nights its just pure nervousness and thats hard to brave through sometimes. i love the fans that literally scream every word back to you and get excited for each song on the setlist, they help so much
claire: the chorus is what just stays in my head and just doesnt leave. as lame as that answer is
š± ÉŖį“essage ā laura
lo: it sounds like you're in serious need of sleep. you need to squeeze in more powernaps. not that those have ever worked for me, but you know...worth a try.
claire: that or two therapy sessions a week. while i wouldnt mind napping when i have time, i always wake up feeling like i'm on a completely different planet and i already feel like that waking up in a different state every morning
š± ÉŖį“essage ā patrick mahomes
Pat: i'm sending you a couple cases of five hour energy shots, along with my new sneakers that were just released. hope you like them :) damn, you don't want to drink too much starbucks haha
Pat: i don't think i've heard that song, but i'm really behind the times tbh. what's it about? i'm assuming a relationship or sth of the sort
Claire: omg bless. youre amazing. i could always go for new sneakers thats so generous of you. i need coffee! every day!
claire: youre all good. it goes 'i'm mr. loverman and I miss my lover, man' lol. it's very catchy but its sad
š± ÉŖį“essage ā nick jonas
nick: at least it's getting better. can imagine it'd be really bad if it was getting worse with each tour. i've had some shows where after something happens the first couple back are harder to get into. that's a good point and if anyone does buy tickets to heckle you they're pretty much trash and you're still making money off them regardless. but pretty sure 99% of people are buying to be there.
nick: for the most part tequila just relaxes me for having a good time. but there's a limit between relaxing and ending up shit faced.
nick: tell that to a lot of very angry brits that still hold a grudge against us! but you know like anything we did our best and we just happened to get big with it. can't help that it worked out for us. true busted seemed to understand and if they haven't well...it's been years. figure it's time for some to move on!
claire: i could imagine that but i dont want to lol! i'd just never tour. and i cant imagine not touring as its where most of the money is anymore. its hard to make anything off streaming which is most peoples go to. i cant judge it too much though because i use it as much as anyone else. i'm so glad records and cassette tapes are a thing again.
claire: yep. you need to know your limits for sure. i'm still a bit of a lightweight but i try to only drink when i'm out with friends for a treat myself deal, given its not the healthiest thing for our bodies
claire: thats their problem lol. so many problems in our world that need our attention and thats the one they go with. pick better battles, my friends. it's not like you did a half-assed take of a cover and that kicked off, you did a really good job for a band just getting their foot in the door. its easier for other musicians to understand something like that as opposed to people who arent
jcejnsā:
Wow, youāre really taking me on a stroll through memory lane huh, those were the good ole days. You are, but itās okay I havenāt found a reason to get a restraining order just yet. Iāve definitely encounter a lot worse people who apparently called themselves fans. I canāt spill the secrets on the Disney days, theyāre for us to know and hopefully for no one else to find out. It definitely is interesting to see what era people grew up with, thatās also when you can kinda guess their age group as well. Hey Iāll take that as a good thing, we try our hardest to keep Willa out of the public eye as much as possible. I could just open every show on the tour like this is Jack and JinJoo, you know my fellow members from DNCE, funnily enough they donāt live in my basement just waiting until I decide I want to make music with them again.
Is this one of those feel old yet? meme scenarios? No restraining order necessary, just keeping it real with you. I miss the 2000s, they were a fun time. Those are the worst, filled with backhanded compliments. Guess Iāll be living onĀ deuxmoi for the tea. They werenāt that bad, were they? They couldnāt have been. You should take it as a good thing, people are weird with children in our industry. Iād love to have kids eventually, way down the road, but the idea of them being stalked definitely makes me nervous. Thankfully Iām nowhere near big enough for having to take major precautions as you two would. Thatās not a bad idea, if you could word it in a humorous way, Iām sure itād spread the message better.
š± ÉŖį“essage ā barbara
barbara: oh no :(((
barbara: do you need painkillers as well?? iām more than happy to send some to you!!
claire: š
claire: i honestly would love that. so far things are better but i just never how how i'll wake up feeling
š± ÉŖį“essage ā open
margot: congrats! how was tour?
margot: do you wanna stay up or just get some rest, hun?
margot: honestly.. i support you making a cover. seriously, fucking do it!
claire: it's still going on but otherwise its been fun for the most part
claire: usually rest but its hard to manage. i get several hours a night though. luckily i'm not a light sleeper
claire: š„° i think i'm gonna do it.
š± ÉŖį“essage ā jacob elordi
jacob: there's always a section of the people that take things literally and can't separate acting from reality. but i like to think i'm not on nate jacobs level crazy. it's more online than anything else. i mean the unintentionally funny scenes always give a good crack up which is always a refresher between the other 98% serious stuff. would you say it's the same way with music? like when you're writing on your own experiences and seeing them come to fruition on paper?
jacob: very resourceful. have you ever wanted or wished you were taller?
claire: right, and they can't be taken seriously if they do anyway. also is a compliment to your performance if people think it's real. i hope not, you seem pretty level headed. i assume the rest of the cast is as well. i write about my own experiences and what i'm currently going through, it's very therapeutic once it's finished and out there. some songs hit harder while preforming or listening back to them but if they're perceived well by fans, they take on an entirely different meaning.
claire: i have my days where i feel frustrated but to me it doesnt seem like its worth it, its not anything i can help. unless i want to live my life in heels and i dont want to do that. very insightful question.
š± ÉŖį“essage ā sydney sweeney
syd: i hope that you get at least a little bit of down time to recharge so that you don't get too burnt out and don't have to deal with constant pain
syd: ive never tried those 5 hour energy shots and i also don't know anyone who really uses them so how the hell are they still in business?
syd: i feel like the biggest loser ever for having no idea what song that is. but it sounds like you should cover it if you're so inspired to! is touring going well other than the few hiccups?
claire: i get a day or two off every several stops, its like working a regular full time job, just way more fun.
claire: blind faith. they are in business based off people's pure blind faith they will do something.
claire: it gained popularity off tiktok but its really good. you should look it up, i bet you'd like it. it just might stick in your head. you're not a loser though. yeah, it's been fun for the most part. i love seeing familiar faces from old tours and meeting new ones. i've also wanted to make this specific album forever so it's so cool to be able to play it every night
š± ÉŖį“essage ā tom holland
tom: that fucking sucks mate, please don't over do it and give yourself some time to relax and rest up. It's important so this isn't an option!
tom: are you sleeping enough? i know these tours can be tough but you should definitely be making sure you're sleeping.
tom: definitely cover the song! is that even a question?
claire: i'm doing my beeeesst. we cancelled the show in philly and rescheduled due to everything going on and that seemed to help.
claire: i'm sleeping. not as much or as good as i do at home but usually once the exhaustion hits me and i'm out, someone will have to shake me to get me up. we get hotels on the free nights we have.
claire: yes i just needed the extra push. thank you, spiderman!
š± ÉŖį“essage ā joshua bassett
josh: that's so cool! one day i'd love to be on tour, so you have to tell me everything and i'll live vicariously through your experience :) just remember to keep breathing, you got this.
josh: hm, gotcha. stretching is great too! meditation? i'll definitely steer clear of them, although i feel like i've seen commercials for them constantly at one point. how much energy do they really give you? and in such a small bottle it's very intriguing. i get mine at trader joe's, they're next to the smoothies and juices section in the fridge.
josh: that's right! and maybe someone who goes to your show and hears you play that song may go check him out and it could turn into a domino effect.
claire: you've never toured before?? you should do it. duo tour next year! the best part about it, and reasons why you do it, obviously, is the fans. it's the best to meet and interact with your supporters and play the music youre so proud of. just as long as your mental and physical health can keep up with you
claire: meditation is good if you can find a quiet room. usually the venues i play are fairly small and everyone is packed into a living room sized space with a few bathrooms. sometimes i'll do that to calm my adrenaline on the bus. oh theyre horrible as far as energy boosters and taste, i just need the extra blind faith i have said energy. i think i'd trust your energy shots better.
claire: right, and thats why we have openers and open for others as well to introduce everyone to new music that is of the same subgenre
š± ÉŖį“essage ā nick jonas
nick: congratulations on your tour! never anything better than being out in front of the fans.
nick: sorry to hear that you're having a flair up. not sure five hour energy is going to help with pain though. guess if you just want to just having never ending jitters that'll keep you moving. i tend to go for tequila when i'm feeling overloaded and stressed or if i'm going through my own issues with my diabetes.
nick: best thing about doing a cover is usually it can't backfire too bad. though we do have a whole group of people that hate us for supposedly ruining a british band after we covered year 3000... so maybe take that advice with a grain of salt.
claire: no i used to have horrific stage fright and it gets better with each tour honestly. i'm still a little anxious every night but its nowhere near as bad as what it was when i first started. i just have to remind myself nobody actually buys tickets to make fun of me or judge, rather than because they actually like my shit. which is cool they like it enough to do that and come out to a show
claire: oh god, i dont need it for pain. i cant imagine how five hour energy would do anything but wake me up a bit which is what i need, or make me feel worse. alcohol is always a fair choice. but does tequila actually help you or does it just relieve the stress?
claire: please. you didnt ruin year 3000 or busted. people are just mad that cover slapped so hard that it took off and got popular. sometimes covers do that. busted seemed cool with you guys given they literally played the song with you. haters can get wrecked lmao.
