Research 3
So I finished basically everything and now I’m sitting here trying to write my general introduction and I am so stuck. I am so frustrated and I don’t like that I’m doing. When I first sat down to write it a couple days ago I thought I had a good idea of what I was going to write but now that I am here writing it i feel so lost like I don’t know what to write, which is extremely frustrating. There are so many little parts I feel like I am missing and just writing it is tough because I don’t know what all needs to be included and I don’t want to miss anything or put something completely unnecessary. Wish your homegirl luck
I felt the same way while writing mine. I just felt like i was either repeating myself or just blabbering on about unnecessary stuff. It took me a really long time to get it all together.Â
Research #2
In all honestly doing the abstracts wasn’t that bad, there was a lot of reading involved but I made it through and I’m happy that part is over. Starting the annotations is pretty scary. I’m trying to jump into this project with the hopes that I don’t drown in the heavy load. I think as soon as the ball gets rolling I’ll be okay but till then I’m just going to go for it and hope for the best.Â
The hardest part about the abstracts for me was all of the reading! Staying focused and annotation for a long time was really hard.Â
Research 4
So I finally finished all my annotations. Once I finally sat down and just picked passages, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. But writing the page about what I annotated felt kind of awkward to me. I definitely prefer annotating on paper with highlighters and little notes on the sides than writing a full on paper about it. My writing at this part seems kind of awkward and I think I’ll have to go through and smooth out my writing so it sounds a little bit more interesting.Â
I struggled with annotations too. It was defiantly awkward putting the actual annotations down in words. For me, after I got a hang of it in my first annotation, it was a lot easier to do in the two other ones.Â
Oh and I watched the movie
I really enjoyed watching the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It was interesting to see how the producer changed the content from the book. The book characterized the narrator as homosexual, but the movie painted him as someone in love with Holly. That really threw me for a loop. I did like the producers choice to make Audrey Hepburn star as Holly Golightly. She definitely fit the mold for who I imagined her to be.
My book has two movies! I think I’m going to watch them after the project is over (when I actually have time) so I can see what’s different about them compared to the actual book.
Research 4
So I’m about 95% done with the project! Just the last little bit of editing to do and I should be all set! I’m actually really happy with how I paced myself for this project. Even though I’m cutting it a little bit close I’m still happy that I have it ready to roll.Â
Research 3
Actually getting stuff done is amazing. And getting it checked off is even more amazing. It feels like all of this time and effort is paying off. All I have left to do is edit the stuff that didn't get check. I talked to Kreinbring though so the changes I have to make are pretty manageable. I’m soooooo ready to turn this in and be done!
Research 2
Writing the actual stuff can be really hard. I feel like every time I go to write I would get hit in the face with writers block. Also, looking for motivation to sit down at my computer on these really nice days is super hard!
Fictional prom date
If I were to pick a fictional character for a prom date I would have to go with Will Blakelee from the Nicholas Sparks book "The Last Song". He's just a true gentleman and is so polite and nice. He may be seen as a snooty rich boy, but on the inside he is a really down to earth guy who would give 100% of himself to anyone.
RESEARCH 1 Last weekend I busted out most of my abstracts and started my annotations. Having Mr. Kreinbring check my abstracts was helpful and made me feel better about the project. Tonight I'm babysitting and the kids are sleeping so I'm taking full advantage of this distraction free night! Hopefully I'll be able to knock out a good portion of this project!
Alicia Keys
In my opinion there would be no Alicia Keys without Aretha Franklin. I don't know much about music and how it all works, but, Aretha Franklin has a beautiful, powerful voice that is a lot different from other artists. Alicia Keys, to me, has that same power in her voice. For example, an Alicia Keys classic,"No One", has so much power, along with her more recent song "Girl On Fire".Â

I really love the book so far. Like most people, I struggled with reading the dialogue at first. But now that I’ve gotten used to it and no longer have to read through the dialogue really slowly to understand it, I love the way she talks. Switching back and forth between the dialogue and the...
I feel the same way. I was confused at first with the change in narration but now I'm really enjoying how it works. I feel like I'm seeing two sides and it gives a twist on the perspective of the book.
Reflection of the first few chapters...
Reading the first chapter I was lost. I didn’t like it at all. It didn’t help that former students gave this book a bad opinion too. To my surprise…I LIKE THIS BOOK. I never like books so this is a big deal everyone. I feel like I’m taking this journey with Janie as she navigates difficult relationships and struggles with finding herself. I’m rooting for her to come out happy. Hopefully that’s how this book ends.
I was kind of lost too the first chapter! Especially since the language is hard to follow. As I keep reading the chapters, I'm liking it more!
Their Eyes Were Watching God 1-5
The first few chapters of this book was a little bit difficult for me. Right away, for almost all of the books that I read, I find myself getting lost trying to get all of the details down. Having discussions with small groups in the class really helped me understand the book better. What really was confusing for me was the two narrators. But, in a discussion I was able to understand the two points of view and now I understand it a lot better. The first few chapters were a little difficult for me to understand but I'm excited to see the rest! I love how much figurative language is used!
Reading The Work 6
So I am officially done with The Scarlet Letter! That was one of the most dramatic books I've ever read. In my earlier blogs I mentioned that I was having trouble staying focused on the text. I tried many different things like listening to music, reading in silence, reading before I go to bed in bed and so on. None of these techniques had a specific change for my distraction but some of them helped a little. Now my book. Wow! It had quite the ending! This was the opposite of what I expected was going to happen. *Spoiler Alert* I did not think that Dimmesdale was going to die! I honestly thought that their plan to go to Europe was going to go through. Now looking back I don't know why I would have thought that because obviously Chillingworth was going to do something crazy on the boat. The ending was just a big surprise for me! Well, I'm glad I'm done! Off to do the rest of the project!
Reading The Work 5
As i continue reading I'm still struggling to stay focused! I wouldn't say its as bad as it was at first but its still a struggle to make sure that I am comprehending and picking up the details of the book while I read. Wow. The last few chapters I have read have been quite dramatic. Finding out about all of the pain that Dimmesdale both emotionally and physically gives himself is revealing so much about the book and the other characters. I had an incing it was going to be him so its really exciting to discover that it is actually him. Â Even though I find myself re-reading stuff and its going at a little bit of a slower pace I'm becoming more understanding of the text and the characters. The book is almost over so I'm anxious to see how it ends!
Reading the Work 4
While I continue to read the Scarlet Letter I am figuring out so much stuff about the characters. Its definitely interesting but I am having one problem while reading. To be completely honest I'm not a big reader. For me i can be really focused during the exciting parts but sometimes I find myself getting distracted. Alyssa suggested to listen to music while reading and that didn't really work out for me. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions that helped them stay focused? I'd appreciate the help!Â
