Archie got his power in book 4, which came with horrific nightmares which were visions of things to come. Ok, Merlin Hall’s assessments start in the May after a child turns 12— due to trauma, his power came in early at age 11— and training is done in May and October.

He turns 12 in book 6, when the war is in full swing.

He’s in a war, keeping all of this traumatic shit buried deep and dealing with it on his own, hasn’t even gotten his Assessment nor any lick of damn training.
