He watched her play, his hand covering his mouth at her end result. He hated being proven wrong yet theree he was standing in shame. “You’re not human. No one can put four out of five in a ring toss, it’s just not right.” The brunette boy judged, unwilling to take his own loss. He eyed the rows of stuffed prizes hoping to find one he could like. “Get that one. It’s fat and fluffy.” He pointed at a larger sized Nemo stuffed doll.
“ then i will have the nemo, please ! ” she asked the attendant, squishing the toy once they handed it to her. “ you’re right, it’s cute. ” the girl smiled and crinkled her nose slightly, carrying the stuffed animal by its fin. after turning away from the booth, she looked around the carnival, analyzing what else they had to offer. “ where to next ?? ”
“If that means you’re going to give all your prizes to me then be my guest.” He replied before suddenly finding himself already at a ring toss booth. “I doubt you’re that great at it. We’ll see whose better.” Elijah stuck his tongue out. Paying the attendant, he was given five rings to score as much as he could to the bottles laid out. His first throw luckily got on one, but missed all his three other shots, with the last one on to another bottle as well. “Ok - this game’s rigged.” He laughed, finding an excuse for his bad performance.
“ please, i’m keeping the prizes to myself. but i am going to make your carry them if you don’t behave. ” she joked. clara payed the attendant, calculatedly throwing each ring and scoring four out of five, wincing when she missed the last one, but quickly regaining composure. she then turned to elijah with a smirk. “ you were saying... ? ” she asked smugly. “ you know what, just because i’m so nice, i’m letting you pick the prize. just this once, so choose wisely. ”
Shaking his head, he tried to keep his composure together, hoping to let go of his little slip-up but her reaction obviously said otherwise. Again, unable to find anything to respond back he quickly turned to walk away, hoping that she wouldn’t see the grin on his face. “Shut up, Clara.” He muttered before walking out the door. Taking the bus, it wasn’t long until they reached their destination. Elijah couldn’t help but take notice of a little carnival fair there. “We are definitely going there first.”
“ are you gonna win me a cute little stuffed animal and finally declare your undying love for me ?? because i’m warning you now that i plan on beating you at everything. ” she told him as they walked towards the carnival. it wasn’t long until she spotted the ring toss, and smiled like a little kid in a candy shop. “ let’s go there first !! ” she said, pointing to the booth. “ i’m great at that game. ” the girl stated, grabbing his wrist and excitedly dragging him behind her.
He raised his eyebrow, a look of exaggerated disbelief on his face. Rolling his eyes, he dismissed her comment as for once he couldn’t think of anything to respond with. “Anyways, I was checking the map and there’s this boardwalk near here. Nice views, shops and places to eat, I thought we could check it out.” He explained, genuinely smiling of excitement. “You better be a good friend and let me have a good time today.”
clara smirked, biting her lower lip in order to hold back her laughter. “ hey. elijah. ” the words were said in a childish voice while she poked him. “ you called me a friend. because you loooove me. ” unable to contain herself anymore, she threw her head back laughing. “ it’s okay. i promise i won’t tell anyone. ” she nodded solemnly. “ and the boardwalk sounds nice. we both know you’ll have an even better time accompanied by my illustrious self. ”
Standing at the hotel’s lobby, he was hoping to get himself into some sightseeing, being it the first time he was there. He was waiting for the one person he found himself spending time with more often than he thought he would, but a part of him didn’t really mind that. As the girl came into his sight of view, he couldn’t help but smirk. “Did it take you so long to come down because you were trying to impress me?” The boy teased as he crossed his arms.
stepping out of the elevator, elijah was the first person she saw. she wasn’t quite sure why the two had been hanging out so often, but the thought of being around him wasn’t as bad now as it once was. the girl raised her eyebrows at his greeting, putting her hands on her hips and tilting her head to the left, mouth open slightly with disbelief, but a smile still painting her features. “ my goal in life, really. ” she rolled her eyes playfully. “ but hey, it clearly worked. ” she teased back with a shrug.

“I’ve been on stage since I was five, so I think I skipped the nerves phase,” she chuckled. “I do get it sometimes, the little bit of nervousness in the pit of mu stomach. But I’ve noticed that those tend to be my best performances.”
“ i do have to agree with you there. i’ve been performing since i was six, even if not professionally. i didn’t really skip the nerves phase, but i think after a while you learn how to make the anxiety work with you instead of against you. ”
