An Open Letter

Humans are wonderfully adaptable creatures. Take me. I've finally accepted the truth of my pater's words. "There are no eternal friends and enemies. Only interests." So, you get to be a hero. You get to play the victim and receive the sympathy and condolences, none of which mean anything because they were offered by people who don't actually care about your wellbeing. But the one person who does? You discard, like yesterday's leftovers. All for the sin of loving you too much. Yes, that was what happened, and you know it as well as I. Rewrite the past as much as you want, but we both know the truth. You haven't really learned anything. You haven't seen how cruel people can be. All because we shielded you from it. We were your protectors, and you cast us aside because you think you've found one better. Go, enjoy it. It won't last. You made your choice. One day, it'll come back to haunt you too.

The Hypocrisy of the Well-Intentioned

You think yourself so high and mighty, don't you? You think you're going around saving people? You're a dirty hypocrite. You've said things you wouldn't want repeated in public as well, only you weren't fool enough to confide in a filthy little rat. Not to mention, you weren't there. You don't know what really happened. You think you do, but perceptions change, and so do memories. She called it an "almost perfect evening", and that's what it was, until two weeks ago. So don't you go trying to re-write the past.
