A couple weeks ago I had the chance to participate in the 'Egaku Workshop' held by Whiteship Gallery at the 92 Art Studio. We were asked to draw "今年の私" or "This Year's Me". I loved the workshop. Highly recommended, no art skills needed, just yourself. I titled this one "Arrival at the Horizon" #art #artworkshop #whiteship #tokyo

What is it about Japan that attracts people? Such a broad question that cannot be answered with just a blog post. Japan is a buffet of its own culture. With a huge selection of culinary delicacy, rich and rather well-kept history, fashion for your whole family, or even just the crazy niche like the Robot Restaurant. And yet it is a country with a huge heartache. I could easily give you stats on suicides, gambling, or sex trafficking. But one can easily go to Google for that. I am just speaking from the heart. The heart of a young girl who grew up adoring Japan through its manga. The one who fell in love at first sight when she arrived for a one night transit in Narita. The one who when she finally gets to explore Japan, she knew she was home. By God's grace, this young girl now gets to live her dream Japan life in Yokohama. I've been living in Yokohama now for 5-6 months. I have heard the term Japan is a missionary's grave. In the negative light, I guess it means that they will continue to work here til they die. In the positive light, they loved the country so much that they will die doing what they love. Which one will I be?
