A huge crowd of locals in the area of Pollokshields, chanting “these are our neighbours, let them go!”, turned up and boxed the police van in for seven hours, withstanding attempts by police to break through the crowd, until the cops were forced to let the two men go. The fact that we are known, globally, for our strong solidarity with the Palestinian people, and that those people appreciate it and feel supported by it in some small way - is one of the things I'm most proud of as a Celtic fan. To think that these spineless, money grabbing cowards would let that tradition fall rather than damage their precious brand makes me fuckin sick. They love to beef up the 'cause' and the 'culture' when it's good branding, but this shows clearer than ever what a joke and an insult that actually is. Bastards.
