i know turkeys have a reputation for being ‘ugly’ but like…they just ARENT. look at them
x
why do people make a blanket statement and call geese ugly. have you looked at geese. personally i find good old canada geese very pretty but if they aren’t your taste…theres very many beautiful geese! for example:
barnacle goose
african pygmy goose
ross’s goose
brant
hawaiian goose

though they are the closest relative of the north american wild turkey, the ocellated turkey looks wildly different in appearance, and while still being a large bird, is much smaller. this turkey is found only in a small range of mexico and an even tinier portion of south america. both males and females have a distinctive blue head and bright feathers with a metallic sheen. ocellated turkeys feed off of fruits, plant matter, and insects, and forage on the ground in flocks. at night they roost in trees to avoid predators such as jaguars, but spend the majority of their time on the ground.

a mother wild turkey guards over her poults. although baby turkeys are able to leave the nest almost immediately after hatching, they are still small and in need of protection by their mother. mother turkeys have been documented fighting off hawks and other predators to protect their young, using their wings and the sharp spurs on the backs of their legs.

“A thousand live bats fluttered from the walls and ceiling while a thousand more swooped over the tables in low black clouds, making the candles in the pumpkins stutter. The feast appeared suddenly on the golden plates, as it had at the start-of-term banquet.”
the bearded vulture is a large old-world vulture found in parts of europe, asia, and africa. the majority of the bearded vulture’s diet consists of bones. small bones are eaten whole, while large bones are cracked open by the vultures, who drop them from great heights. the vultures are naturally a light off-white, but they dye themselves orange-red using clay. it’s theorized this is a status symbol, with the darkest-colored vultures being the highest ranking.
