So, this is more of a serious post of mines. I want to discuss somebody in the THSC community who has been weird with my friend and negligent in how she writes/portrays characters.
This is all in reference to @/capturecharlesau, gonna be a big of a longer post of mines but It's something I deem as necessary to talk about esp because this had affected a mutual of mines and I don't fuck w that
warning for mentions of explicit content and romanizing abuse
To begin, sending explicit material to somebody w/o proper conset and without and age-check.
The context behind these few messages as stated by Active/@Lateritive is that them n Minnie were previously discussing spoilers for their respective webcomics. It’s right after these messages were sent Minnie had sent explicit content unprompted to Active
Minnie is an adult, and Active is a minor. While Minnie didn’t know Active is a minor she still did not ask for proper permission or double checked Active is the age she assumed they were.
Minnie being the adult here, it’s her responsibility to both age-check and ask for proper permission before sending explicit material. There was no proper warning, the conversation beforehand implies further spoiler talk not outright nsfw.
Furthering on this, discussion about Terrence's sexual activity around minors
Minnie, again, is the adult in the friend group of minors. Speaking casually about how Terrence is 'active' which is just, weird as hell considering the fact that, yk talking about this amongst minors but her Terrence is also a r^pist. The comment about how he's already done w Danny and Reginald, two of his victims, is weird as fuck, and then even roping Ellie into it.
Speaking of Danny, her handling of him is another point I'd like to talk about.
Minnie's handling of abuser and victim relationships is ass for lack of a better word. As stated in the screenshots and portrayed in her previous comic, Danny is one of the victims of Terrence, even going as far as Terrence being the reason Dannys significant other is dead. It's one thing to write and abuser x victim story, that's not the problem here, it's the fact that she then goes onto romanticize them under the guise of it being an alternate universe.
It's gross and disrespectful to actual abuse victims.
To then and go and play it off under such fact when somebody has stated their discomfort with it, passing it off as 'fictional fun'. To note the only change is that these characters all know each other, not Dannys lore, not Terrence's to my understanding. So, it's not much of an alternate timeline, Terrence is still Dannys abuser.
This is not the only time Minnie has portrayed abuser x victim relationships poorly, but I'll talk about that in another post.
Continuing with Danny,
Danny is based off, if not the literal depiction, of a complete stranger Minnie met one day.
She characterizes this random ass man she met and then uses his likeness in her comic. On top of that, drawing nsfw and suggestive content of, I reiterate, a man she met because he was waiting her table.
Minnie then proceeds to make weird comments about his skin when drawn, referring to it as "Chocolaty creamy". It's weird as hell given the context of this being a characterized stranger, and just offensive as well
Her handling of autism with Burt
But Minnies depiction of autism with Burt is handled very poorly and arguably stereotyping. That whole 'Autistic people are brilliant genius' who are weird'.
I'm not autistic so I don't have much room to speak on Minnies portrayal of Burt, but Burt has been stated to be intelligent, SO SO intelligent to the point where he almost does everything for the toppats, being their inventor and head of communications.
To further emphasize Burts stereotypical behavior, Minnie herself compares him to Sheldon of the Big Bang theory, character Notorious for being a stereotype of autism, stating he'd relate to him.
Somewhat unrelated, not about Burts autism but about Burt nonetheless. Unprompted and without proper warning/clarification Minnie talks about a triggering subject that being an ED.
She did not ask for permission before delving into something triggering no gave any hints to the topic, especially with the conversation before being about placing characters into sitcoms. It's negligent and triggering especially with her being the adult in this situation.
