“Okay, see.....you’re getting it!” Claudia laughed, throwing her head back slightly as she did so. “It’s not as tough as it looks and evidently we’re going to look so much cooler than everyone else if we’re constantly greeting each other with a secret handshake.” ( @adrianohara ).

“What can I say?” they ask with a wink, “I’m a terrible person. The worst of the worst but now I want a hot dog,” they continue, “Then I’ll be the worst of the wurst,” Temple grins, hoping the joke goes over. “Ah, just trading one night stand stories with an old room-mate. Lowkey trying to one- up her.”

Claudia laughed almost immediately, shaking her head in the process. “Are you one-upping her? Do you have some interesting ones? Cause I bet I could one up you.”

“I don’t know,” Raj shrugged as he pulled Claudia’s churro-clad hand up to his mouth, helping himself to a hearty bite of the snack she was nearly finished with. Sharing just about anything was something that came so naturally to the two of them now and explanations were often not needed. “I feel like it’s probably been done before,” He muffled with his lips now glued to the straw on his apple cider all while he perfectly balanced a soft pretzel in the same hand. “I can’t imagine it being that difficult. I think you could make one, but not be the creator. Make one so I can tell you bad it tastes.”

“It probably has been done before.” She sighed, wanting to run her hand through her hair but being unable to since both were busy. Claudia scrunched her nose up at him instead. “You want me to make one just for you then? Not to make a profit?”

“Well…sometimes I just say shit on accident. I think my mouth thinks faster than my fuckin’ brain.” Vinnie sighed, rubbing his temples. ”Then I feel bad about it later. I dunno…I wasn’t trying to be funny. I was just kind of annoyed. Like, I dunno, it’s weird to say people look like other people as a compliment. What if I told her she looked like Abraham Lincoln or some shit?” 

“Then why can’t she be like you and say something she doesn’t mean and then feel bad about it later? Honestly it doesn’t sound like something that’s that deep. If someone told me I looked like Abraham Lincoln I’d laugh and that’d be that. There’s, like, bigger shit to worry about.”

“I’m sorry I almost knocked him off his hinges,” Temple says with a shrug, “He’ll get over it. He’ll be redone when the menu changes tomorrow. He’ll forget it and it’ll all wash away,” they continue with a smile. “Let him haunt me.”

“He can hear you, you know? He knows we’re talking about him.” Claudia shook her head as if in disappointment before shrugging. “So, what were you so preoccupied with that you almost knocked over my friend?”

“It’s one of those well kept secrets for sure. I don’t know why it has never occurred to me to wander up here, but it definitely hand’t — I’m glad you showed me,” Margot said and laughed when the other female shared memories from her childhood. “Yeah, that would’ve probably put a damper on things anyway, from both sides.”

“You’ve just gotta know when to come, I guess.” Claudia laughed softly. “It looks even prettier at night because you can see all of the lights. Obviously it doesn’t look like a whole city would but it still looks amazing.”

Lunch dates with his mother were usually nice but often times left him frustrated. While they silenced agreed not to bring up his father, Thomas always thought about him. With his mind else where, he doesn’t react quickly enough to Maggie tugging on her leash. As it slipped through his fingers, he looks up and see’s Maggie jumping on someone. “Shit, I’m sorry! I wasn’t paying attention, she kind of got away from me. She doesn’t bite.”

“Oh, shit.” Claudia laughed and the words came out naturally, not because she hated that the dog had jumped on her, rather because it was a total surprise. “Don’t worry about it at all!” The brunette smile upon hearing him before kneeling down to pet the dog. “What’s their name?”

Claudia was holding a slice of pepperoni pizza in one hand and a half eaten churro in the other hand. Both felt incredibly greasy with the exception of one having extreme sugar. “Okay, so, do you think anyone has ever made a churro pizza?” The girl raised her brows at him, taking a bite of the pizza herself. “Or do you think that I could create that? Be honest.”

                       Having been away with work for a few days, Zoe was unpacking the car, her arms full as she moved across the sidewalk and up the path to her home. She was halfway there when she realized she’d dropped a bouquet of flowers she’d gotten the day before. Sighing heavily, she put down her bags one by one, careful not to drop the loose items she’d stacked on top, when she noticed someone walking towards the bouquet. “Hey, could you toss me those flowers?” She asked, nodding her head towards them. “Thank you—- you just saved me at least ten steps.”

Claudia had seen the girl and decided to go up and chat her  up for a bit. At her command she grabbed the bouquet of flowers and tossed it but not before admiring them for a moment. “So, you coming or going, Zo?”

“Holy fuck… look at that view. I can’t believe I was born in this town and didn’t know about this place,” Margot said after finally reaching the top of a hillside on the outskirts of Haverford, down by the lake. Her gaze roamed the landscape in front of her, taking it all in, while cliche thoughts of how simple it all looked from up there popped into her mind. “It’s nice, isn’t it?”

“I can’t believe you didn’t know about it either, to be honest. Though a lot of people don’t roam around here, I guess. It’s pretty amazing, though.” She nodded, looking around. “I used to come here a ton as a kid. There was the occasional high school couple making out and they’d always make me leave.”

“Absolutely. It seems like everyone chose today to injure themselves or fall ill in one way or another” He hummed in response, a soft chuckle leaving his lips, taking another drag from his cigarette before putting it out with his thumb, taking the pack from his jacket and slipping the half used cancer stick back into it before returning it to his pocket. “What brings you over here today?” He asked, his accent soft as he spoke.

“That sounds like absolute shit.” Claudia mused, watching him as he discarded the cigarette before shrugging in response to his question. “Was just walking around the neighborhood. Helps clear my head or whatever. An interesting looking guy with a beard always draws my attention.”

“I can’t believe I’m admitting this––” Bringing the coffee cup to her lips, Lydia allowed the warmth from within the mug to permeate onto her cold fingertips, “but Lanford coffee is inherently better than Manhattan coffee. What is it with small towns and bakeries?”

“You think so?” Claudia arched her brow, surprised by the girl’s words. “I’ve always felt like it depends more on the specific coffee shop than the city or town.”

Andi was wandering the aisles with a full basket of groceries. He was trying to get life settled. Eventually he would get furniture, but for now, he was roughing it on the floor of his apartment. He could at least get food for his fridge. Down the aisle he saw someone struggling to grab something. “Here.. let me get that for you.” The tall man reached to the top shelf, wincing slightly as the pain in his ribs took over. “Here you go..” 

“Hey!” Claudia almost started yelling at him some more because her immediate thought was that he was trying to steal the mac and cheese box she was aiming for. Once she realized what he was actually doing, a sheepish smile found its way to her face. “Sorry. I mean, thanks. Thank you.” The brunette took the box and smiled at him, noting the almost grunting noise he’d made upon reaching for the box. “You okay?”

“Do three-year olds still like stuffed animals?” he asked, turning to the other as he held up the toy koala in his hand, an endeared smile threatening to grow wider the more he thought about Daisy’s possible reaction to him giving her a present when they’d see each other next. It was a strange look on him, one that not very many people got to see. In other words, a smile reserved only for her. “I mean, it’s pretty fuckin’ adorable, I don’t see how any kid can refuse it.”

Claudia jumped slightly when she heard his voice, not expecting to be spoken to as she looked around the store. “Yeah --- “ The girl nodded, looking from the stuffed animal to him. “I think a child should be into that. I don’t have too much experience with kids, though.”

“Some lady on the fuckin’ bus asked me if I was the guy from The Voice,” Vinnie explained, leaning forward on the bar and swishing around his glass so he could watch the whirlpool the drink made. It seemed to occupy his attention for a moment too long before he chimed in again. “And when I said no, she said I looked just like him. So I kind of…I dunno, sighed and went ‘God, I hope this bus crashes.’ Was that mean? That felt mean. I dunno, man.” He grimaced. “Point is, I did the whole black hair and tattoos thing first. I didn’ mean to be mean.” 

“You said that?” Claudia raised her brows, looking at him before soft laughter escaped from between her lips. “I don’t know if it was mean, it sounds hilarious to me, but I’m sure she didn’t appreciate that response. She probably just wanted you to thank her and that’s it.”

“What did you think of class today?” Perry asked, as she exited out of the yoga studio after teaching and noticing that someone was waiting by the door. She hadn’t been teaching classes in Lanford for long, considering she had just moved there, so she was still trying to figure out the regulars and people who occasionally attended. “Was it your first time or are you here are a lot?” 

“I’ve been here a couple of times.” Claudia spoke. “Not really a regular but not really a newbie.” She came whenever she found the time to which ever since she’d finally found a job wasn’t too often. “It was a great class, though. I’m not just saying that to soothe your ego or anything either.” A soft laugh followed on her part.

They’re 8 replies deep in to text rant to one of their old room-mates in the city, but it was more of 8 texts in rapid succession of how their life had been recently because she had gotten a hold of Temple first and asked the loaded question, which they were more than happy to comply to, but because of that, they were unaware of what was going on around them.  The streets weren’t busy by any means, or maybe they were because it all stopped when Temple hit a sign, immediately apologized and then caught themself. “Wait, you’re not a person,” they muse with a soft laugh at themself, “You don’t have feelings, or maybe you do. I’m not here to judge, but then again,” another laugh, “I’m talking to a sign,” they shake it off, and notice a feeling of someone watching, or maybe just nearby them enough that Temple has that feeling. “You can’t  tell me you’ve never apologized to an inanimate object. I nearly hurt it’s hinges.”

“Temple, first of all, how dare you almost hurt my friend Sal The Sign?” Claudia sighed once she had caught the other’s attention. “Second of all, I’m going to have to translate your apology because I don’t think that my friend Sal here really knows what you’re saying and I don’t want them showing up at your house tonight or something. Haunt you or whatever.”
