It’s fucking prison camps holding 1,400 children. that’s fascism.
This is incredibly difficult to look at. I fear this will continue and he will commit even worse crimes against humanity. I believe the UN is sitting on June 27 to discuss the humanitarian aspects of Trumps decisions here.
Glad to see major network coverage of this
Here is the promised greater america. Here is Trump’s america. Take a good look and never forget it as I am sure the children at these...’facilities’ never will.
10 Questions Every Fic Writer Secretly Wants to be Asked
There are a lot of fic questions that float around online, but rarely do they ever ask specific questions about the fics themselves. Ask any writer one or more of these ten questions to learn more about the fic and show support.
1. Of the fics you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?
2. Which scene was your favorite to write in [title of fic]?
3. Which part of [title] was hardest to write?
4. If you could change anything in [title], what would it be?
5. Did you make an outline for [title]? Did you stick to it?
6. Which scenes did you cut, and which were added in [title]?
7. Who was your favorite character to write in [title]?
8. Which came first, the title or the fic?
9. Which idea came to you first in [title]?
10. What are some facts readers may not know about [title]?
@themoonlitpaladin 👀I need to know!
YOU TAGGED ME IN THIS FOREVER AGO SHIA AND I FORGOT TO ANSWER. 1. My favorite fic so far is Gate Keeper (but if we’re talking about stories I’ve actually FINISHED then you KNOW it’s going to be Inked.)
2. My favorite scene in Gate Keeper so far has been a tie between the first creature scene and the entire first smut chapter. The first creature scene because I love to play with darker ideas but I rarely get the chance since I end up writing fluff- the smut chapter because I feel like it was really satisfying to finally meet the build with the admission of affection and then action. I want those lil jerks together okay. (In INKED my favorite is HANDS DOWN the scene following the realization in Kyoto. I had worked for so long to get to that moment and I felt so proud of how it came out - and we both know I’m never happy with my work so that was a real moment.)
3. The hardest part of GK so far has been the beginning, specifically any scenes involving Lance’s family since I can relate to his turbulent relationship with them. (The hardest part of INKED was just meeting the deadline.I hadn’t planned it to get so long, I MEAN IT WAS A BANG/EVENT STORY, but I could have taken it much further and didn’t get the chance since I had to have it finished and edited prior to the due date.)
4.If I could change anything about GK, it would probably be the pacing. I dont like setting schedules because I dont like feeling obligated and rushed- you can see that in the early chapters especially. Writing shouldn’t have to feel like a chore. (If I could change anything about Inked, I would just cut off the end and continue it. There was more story to be told and I’m just grateful for the opportunity to continue it a little through my VLD Inked AU coming up)
5. I make an outline for ALL stories, even tiny drabbles. I stick to them about 85% of the time and, in the case of both GK and Inked, I tweak them as I write/ as the story grows and evolves.
6. Some family scenes were cut out of the early chapters of Gate Keeper and I cut some background character scenes out of Inked.
7. My favorite character to write in Gate Keeper is Lance, but Pidge is a close second. In INKED, my favorite was definitely Eijun because I LOVED getting to show a different version of him than is generally seen in fics.
8. In both Gate Keeper and Inked the title came first. I might not always have a title before the outline, but i will ALWAYS have a title before I begin writing.
9.The first idea that came to me in Gate Keeper was the idea of using celtic mythology with the gang. It wasn’t something I had seen much around the fandom and it’s a favorite of mine so I just went with it. In Inked, the first idea was using the Bakamatsu period. Again, it is a favorite of mine and it just took hold of me and wouldn’t let go.
10. Facts you may not know about Gate Keeper - It will be a minimum of 200k words when finished, it will have a sequel that has some heavy Pallura, I have been so whipped by this story that I’ve written ideas and dialogue on napkins at restaurants because the fucker wont leave me alone Facts you may not know about Inked - It was a submission for a reverse bang, so the entire story was spawned from a tiny little concept doodle, it was written entirely within 6.5 days, it was originally planned to be around 12k words and wound up over 64k in that period of time, * I MET ONE OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD THROUGH WORKING ON THIS STORY AKA YOU BISH @clavelles
nothing is awkward or cheesy if you dont give a fuck. im on this earth to have a good time not to be seen as cool
Scientists invented fabric that makes electricity from motion and sunlight. To create the fabric, researchers at Georgia Tech wove together solar cell fibers with materials that generate power from movement. It could be used in “tents, curtains, or wearable garments,” meaning we’d virtually never be without power. Source
Y'all are fucking idiots. Clean energy will NEVER be enough to replace the energy we have now. We’d have to tear down DOZENS of forests just to fit enough windmills and solar panels to get even a QUARTER (probably less, tbh) of the energy we can produce now.
Yeah, sure, when they’ve already calculated that a few square miles of panels in the empty ass Arizona desert could power the whole nation. But ok, fracking and the diminishing petroleum supply is worlds better.
Nevermind that windmills are often most efficient off the coast. There they take up no land, impact no trees, don’t pollute the water, and are conveniently located where winds are often strongest anyway.
And solar panels can literally be built into roofs of buildings and in empty areas like deserts. The sun strikes the Earth with the same amount of energy in an hour that our civilization uses in a year.
But yeah, it would be impossible for us to ever have enough energy from clean sources.
Durr hurr technology is bad and I would rather light shit on fire than have clean energy
I can also testify to the Arizona desert being empty ass. And the California desert. And the Nevada desert.
also…no forests were cleared to make space for Denmark’s windmills and yet they regularly produce so much power that it covers almost all of the country’s power needs. Oh, and then there’s the times when the windmills generate 140% of Denmark’s power needs. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/jul/10/denmark-wind-windfarm-power-exceed-electricity-demand
Friendly reminder that oil pipelines are a scam.
The fact that anyone can believe a limited amount of dinosaur oil is more plentiful and efficient than moving air or fucking sunlight is proof that entire populations can be completely brainwashed.
I love how potato in French is pomme de terre, which pretty much means “earth apple.”
like what stupid frenchman saw this:
and said “zis petite légume looks like a, how you say, APPLE! hmmm… but it grows in ze earth… HON HON HON! MAIS OUI! C’EST UNE POMME DE TERRE!”
j’adore comment ananas se dit pineapple en anglais, ce qui veut littéralement dire “pomme de pin”, genre quel type anglais a vu ça:
et s’est dit : “ow cette étrange big fruit ressemble à une, how do you say, POMME! hmmm… mais plutôt une pomme qui pousse dans les pins… HU HU HU! OH YES, IT’S A PINEAPPLE!” (z’avez vu, on peut le faire aussi… hon hon hon!)
I can’t even read French and I’m laughing my ass off
This is good

Surya Bonaly, world renowned French skater whose trademark move is her backflip, where she only lands on one blade in order to keep the move legal. She’s amazing!
Yoooooo
it always amuses me when I remember the ice skating community banned this phenomanal move because a black person literally had raised the bar and white people were too bitter to do better so they banned a move that would add progress to the sport.
and then she raised the bar again
someone make this into a movie. fuck it, i’ll do it
ok ok so every time this post shows up on my dash, i get a little miffed because it presents this narrative that isn’t consistent with reality. it misrepresents surya’s career. first, there seems to be this implication that the isu banned the backflip because surya was the first skater to perform the backflip, and they didn’t like that because she’s black.
i mean, surya did not pioneer the backflip. she herself stated that her coach suggested that she start doing backflips on ice because of a skater named norbert schramm who was performing them in europe at the time. scott cramer pulled off 10,032 backflips over the course of his career, and he retired seven years before surya even began competing. surya is THE FIRST AND ONLY skater in history to perform a backflip and land on one skate in competition, but the most important part of it wasn’t the feat itself but WHY SHE DID IT.
and ok, the first person to successfully do a backflip on ice was skippy baxter in an ice show in the 1940s. there has only been one legal backflip performed in actual competition by terry kubicka in 1976. immediately after he pulled it off, the isu banned the move from competitions. please note that yes, terry kubicka was a white male figure skater. and for context, surya was born in 1973. i sincerely doubt that the isu was banning the backflip because of a THREE-YEAR-OLD.
the isu had very good non-racism related reasons for banning the backflip because well, figure skating is fucking hard. i think we frequently underestimate just how difficult it is because of how easy they make it look. i mean top figure skaters are still working on consistently landing quad jumps in competition. it’s so easy to flub a jump and get injured, and it’s super common for skaters to spend huge chunks of the off season not training because they’ve injured themselves.
SO DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA JUST HOW FUCKING DANGEROUS IT WOULD BE IF BACKFLIPS WERE ALLOWED IN COMPETITIVE SKATING???? if you mess this move up, you’re not just going to break an ankle or fuck up your muscles, you’d break your neck on the ice. you could FUCKING DIE. and this is by no means the first or last move to get banned by the isu for being too dangerous. (the one that comes to mind is the head banger death spiral because seriously what a name).
the reason why this is just so upsetting to me is because i feel like you guys are really simplifying surya’s narrative. yes, surya was a FUCKING BADASS. LIKE HER FIRST SEASON IN SENIOR COMPETITIONS, SHE LANDED A BACKFLIP DURING PRACTICE RIGHT IN FRONT OF MIDORI ITO, THE FAVORITE FOR THE 1992 OLYMPICS. IN THE SAME COMPETITION, SHE BECAME THE ONLY WOMAN TO EVER ATTEMPT A QUAD TOE LOOP IN COMPETITION, and the first time anyone had even successfully pulled that off was a mere three years earlier.
and yes, surya had to deal with A LOT of racism. because of her skin color and her build and her athleticism and her style, she didn’t fit into the “ice princess”. they pegged her as a rebel, and they treated her as such. the judges were constantly nitpicking her skating style and criticizing her artistry because she wasn’t this light and graceful skater that they thought female figure skaters should be. (black ballerinas suffer from the same plight). she was constantly pushing the boundaries, but she consistently got lower scores than her white counterparts. and despite that, she was A THREE-TIME WORLD SILVER MEDALIST, A FIVE-TIME EUROPEAN CHAMPION, AND A NINE-TIME FRENCH NATIONAL CHAMPION.
in the 1994 world championships, surya’s final score tied for first place with yuka sato’s. it came down to a tiebreaker vote, and the judges picked yuka because she fit in better with the ice princess image. surya knew why she the judges didnt pick her. during the awards ceremony, she refused to step onto the medals podium and took off the silver medal. she was crying, and the crowd was booing at her.
the 1998 olympics was going to be surya’s last hurrah. she knew that the 97-98 season would be her last. when the judges gave her a low score on her short program for surprise surprise racist reasons, she knew that there was no way that she could win.
so surya decided to make a point.
she hadn’t planned to do this from the start because she knew that the move was illegal and doing it could get her disqualified, but after seeing her short program score, surya basically on the spot decided to replace the triple in her free skate with the backflip landing on one skate. she hadn’t been training for this move specifically, she just pulled it off right then and there on the olympic stage. and while the backflip was banned for being too dangerous, another reason for it to be banned was because the skater would land on both skates, and jumps are always landed with one skate.
surya pulling off this banned move was basically her last FUCK YOU to the judges because they’d been screwing her over since the start of her career. she was challenging them by making a previously illegal move technically legal. the judges didn’t disqualify her, but they didn’t accept the move as legal either, and they deducted points from her score, so surya placed 10th overall. BUT THAT DIDNT MATTER. when surya finished her program, she turned her back on the judges (a huge no-no because it is highly disrespectful) because she didn’t care about their opinion at this point. SHE’D MADE HISTORY. their decision wouldn’t change that.
(surya performs the backflip at 3:28)

My roomba is scared of thunderstorms
I was sitting at my desk just a few minutes ago, drawing, and a really loud crack of thunder went off–no power surges or anything, just thunder–and my roomba fled from its dock and started spinning in circles
I currently now have an active roomba sitting quietly on my lap
Humans will pack bond with anything.
I had a teenage girl come into my tea shop with her mother the other night. She purposely grabbed a teamaker in the most crunched-up looking box on the shelf (got banged around in shipment) and carried it protectively over to the counter. “If something’s in a damaged box I have to get it because I’m afraid no one else will love it,” she laughed nervously.
Not only will humans pack bond with anything, the empathy level of adolescent girls in particular likely has puppy-saving, world hunger-solving, war-ending powers.
I once saw a really bumpy lime at the grocery store, just a real ugly fruit. Later that night my boyfriend & I were driving home from rehearsal at like 11:30pm & passed the grocery store & I stared crying & he said “is it that lime? Do you want to go back and get it?” And I nodded and pulled the car around and bought the lime.

@themoonlitpaladin 👀I need to know!
Pardon me, but where are you originally from? I remember a while ago you had a debacle about age difference with some of your characters, and my creative writing teacher has been bugging me about one of my couple's age difference being "skeevy" or "creepy" and I'd like to remind her that's a very American idea and love can come in any form.
i am italian! i was born and raised there even tho now i live somewhere else
(I apologize for the long post oh my god)
i do not know how it works in your country 100% but in italy, at least in the part where i come from, 5-6 or even more age difference is okay. thing is, it all depends on the people involved in the relationship. an abusive and manipulative person can be the oldest one, but it can also be the youngest one of the two. as i’m talking about my personal experience, my 5-years-older-than-me boyfriend (i was 15 and he was 20) was one of the kindest and most supportive guys i met, and he never put pressure on me for anything regarding our relationshipwhile on the other hand, i had a relationship with someone younger than me by 2 years, they were underage at that time and i was barely 18, but it was one of the worst relationships I ever had as i was emotionally manipulated into thinking things better than that relationship didn’t exist and they also threatened me more than one time.on the even other hand, i also had a burdensome relationship with someone older than me by 5 years than when we cut off ties, they tried to put everyone against me as a revenge.what i am trying to say is that not always age gap/older means abusive, skeevy or creepy. surely it is easier to deceive someone younger because of their lack of experience and maturity, but anyone can be a predator and a victim. this telltale that being underage means you are pure, must be protected or excluded from being a possible predator has to end. there are people who connect perfectly even with having an age gap. heck, my cousin and her husband, as i said already a lot times before, have 15 years difference (as she’s around 20 years older than me and her husband has my father’s age), have been married happily for 25 years and have 5 children. relationships are something that should be treated case-by-case. this means that anyone can write about a 16yo falling in love and mutually being reciprocated by someone older than 18. it all depends on how they are AS INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE. This means that if an author wants to write about a 15yo that has enough maturity and sentimental independence to have a relationship with a 25yo, and manages to make them fit perfectly as a couple, THAT IS GOOD AND SHOULD BE DONE.however using age gap to portray abusive relationships is NEVER AN EXCUSE. AND THAT SHOULD BE CONDEMNED. But.There is literally no need to lose it as soon as you see some underage //fictional// character paired with someone that is not. Read through it. Find the particularities that makes them a good pair (or what makes them not but you should do it consciously, not just to support your stupid anti agenda), see how they function as a couple, see if there is mutual understanding. there are a lot of famous stories that portrays abusive relationships between adults, and it is good to call them out. it is not good to harm someone who is trying to write about a perfect healthy relationship just because it portrays someone underage with someone that is not.we should never forget that fictional characters are often idolized version of things we can find in reality. well, they are called fictional for this reason. and that most of fictional characters are written and shaped by adults, and that these authors are the ‘puppet-masters’. they decide how their characters are, and how they should write it. masking an abusive relationship with ‘love’ IS BAD WRITING. We should remember that. Not all the creators of contents are GOOD creators. but that doesn’t have to become a burden to EVERY ARTIST that wants to write about age-gap couples. read well. learn to analyze. understand if the thing is good or bad. learn how to be a fair judge of the things you decide to read. condemning everything you see just because you don’t personally like it is a form of dictatorship and should never be allowed. calling out the bad things is okay. condemning everything you slightly don’t like is not okay.i think it should be like this. I’m sure we think the same way!
sorry for the long post??? i wasn’t planning to write this much……. my hand fled by itself
This post sums up my thoughts on age gaps. Well said Natsu :) 👏

Google is the latest tech company to drop the longstanding wall between anonymous online ad tracking and user’s names.
Guys, this is really important. Until now, Google collected your data, but did not attach your name to it. Now, they can, and will. This new thing they’re doing will allow them to collect your data across searches, your email, Youtube, Maps, Google+, and all their affiliates, and build a complete profile of YOU.
If that doesn’t bother you, maybe this will: they own and can sell all that data, including anything you create and send (artists and writers, take note).
There is a way you can opt out of this ridiculousness. It’s described in the link, but if you’re still not sure about it, please ask me and I’ll guide you through how to turn all this off.
This is my wake-up call. I’ll be locking down my devices and scaling back what I put through the big Google machine, which means you may see less of me across social media. I’m going to keep researching this, but it may mean in order to keep the rights to my creative work, I’ll have to keep it out of Google’s hands. And that may take some doing.
Duckduckgo is a nontracking search engine….may be worth a try.
So according to the article there is an opt out for this. Instructions are I the last paragraph. I’m on mobile so I’ll edit this more later. EDITED TO INCLUDE OPT OUT INSTRUCTIONS
To opt-out of Google’s identified tracking, visit the Activity controls on Google’s My Account page, and uncheck the box next to “Include Chrome browsing history and activity from websites and apps that use Google services.“ You can also delete past activity from your account.
