Finally returned :)

Looking at the last post I made 2 years ago, I guess it wasn’t just a few “months” but “years” lol. I remember I created this account because I was pretty stressed about everything and wanted to escape from reality. Well in these 2 years, I went back to school, graduated from school, went back to my home country, reunited with friends and family, did internships, got depressed, tried to write yuri, got a job and now I think I’m a bit more stable (zen?). Would try to be here more often and glad to see that people are still here :)

It’s been some time since I’ve re-read Claymore so I might do it but recently I’ve also gotten hooked on kakegurui XD

Thoughts on Mainland

It’s a pity that Yagi-sensei didn’t elaborate much about the mainland, though I think it can evolve to become another entire series on its own.

I’ve always wondered, looking at how Rubel escape from Priscilla at the end, if the abyssals on Claymore island are so strong they actually surpass the dragon’s descendants AKA asarakam, especially when he mentioned “I was blinded by the desire to see the strongest living creature for myself” in chapter 143. Considering he’s with the dragon’s kins, it sounds like Priscilla is stronger than his dragon kin allies.

If the abyssals are really that powerful, I’ll be so interested to see how the battle between the abyssals and dragon’s descendants will turn out. Why do I sound like Dae.. XD

The organisation abandoned male Claymore warriors because they claim that when the latter awaken, the awakened beings will attack their soldiers. However, as we’ve seen in the last few chapters, these ABs are capable of working together, are able to evaluate the pros and cons, and can even attack their own kind. Frankly speaking, I feel that if the organisation regime liases with them somehow (providing fresh supply of POW etc), they might actually be able to cooperate.

And it’s quite a pity the organisation never knew in detail about Teresa and Clare - probably the most successful soul link experiment

I like almost everything Galatea says, because she’s just so sassy XD but I especially like this: Do as you please, your and my way of life are different to begin with. In Japanese ->  好きにしろ。元々お前たちと私とでは生き方が違う。

This quote really serves as a guide in my life. It justifies my actions when others think that I don’t “fit in” like they do. It encourages me to stay true to myself whenever I feel like succumbing to the demons within me (when you put too much pressure on yourself and actually thought of changing yourself to fit in).

Do whatever you want, I don’t care. I only have one life and I choose the way I want to live it. So empowering XD

This is basically the song I kept looping when I read Claymore. There were some parallels, for example, both involve revolutions and living in an oppressed era. The melody’s really intense and and I guess it overlaps well in some parts of the manga when something dramatic happened haha

“Your life is yours! It belongs to nobody!” Again, at first glance I didn’t think much about it, but then, how often do people live that motto?

There is a group of people who live for others. When I say “others”, I’m not talking about their loved ones. I’m referring to (this is just an example) the society that consumes them, body and soul. Some people believe they are in control of their lives, but in reality, they are just leading the lives approved by the authorities and trying to meet their expectations.

Hopefully, people will recognise the shackles and break out of it, even though it’s really tough.

When I first read this, frankly I didn’t think much about the meaning of it. But when I re-read the quote again, it’s actually much more than its face value.

A person doesn’t just represent herself (her character). She is also the embodiment of her values, her opinions, her experiences. She carries the weight of responsibilities that have been entrusted to her. She represents her loved ones, her community.

You are not just you. You are those hopes (people placed on you). You are those principles (that you believed in). You are the legacy (that your loved ones leave behind).

I’m not sure if I’m overthinking, but being cognisant of the fact “you are not just you” is deep.
