Turning around, Rowan watched Clayton go into the kitchen and close the door. âHey-â But it didnât matter. There was no way Nadia would let her go into the kitchen. Maybe she wasnât supposed to. Jumping back at the sound of the howel and the pain. Tears pressed against her brown eyes and her stomach churned. The idea of Clayton in that much pain, or any pain, made her sick to her stomach.Â
Slowly she walked into the kitchen to find Clayton on the ground. There were fresh bruises that she noticed right away. âClayton,â she always enjoyed the way his voice sounded when he woke up. She moved to sit on the floor and gently played with his hair. Moving his head into her lap. âOh baby," she let a tear roll down her cheek. "DoâŚDo you need anything?â
âHey...hey none of that now..â He murmured, reaching up to brush a tear off her cheek. His movements were a bit shaky, his body ached far more than he wanted it to. âNo...Iâll be alright.â He murmured. âBut, do you understand now? Why I canât bring you with me? This was a voluntary change. The others i go through, are not like this...a-and I canât always predict what the outcome will be.âÂ
