I found a soda called "Spruce Beer" for less than two dollars. Surprised I have never seen it before in Ontario. Apparently it is actually flavoured with the "buds, needles, or essence of spruce trees." I am very into this, it's like a dream I had. Made raisin scones too! I told my work team I'm in Quebec for the week and the next post my colleague made was in French, telling us the t-shirts for the event at the end of June have arrived (I luckily don't have to go to that). She doesn't speak French, nor do I, but I found that charming I love the way a lake can be black in broad daylight - a large mirror the trees and sky fall and stretch into Haven't been doing much reading >:-( But there have been other things.

Leaving for Montreal in hours and am tired yet sleepless.  I ate two double chocolate Cadbury fingers in the dark and god knows why that feels so distinguished. Now doing laundry at 3 in the morning. Have packed bags with stuff not clothes but have not packed the car. Going to rural Quebec after. Staying at a blue-painted cottage with a hot tub and outdoor seats. The lake is there, and trees around it. A hot tub was my only birthday wish, plus to spend Friday, the birthday, with my sister who is my twin. And it’s all coming true. I have a philosophy that when dreams come true they mostly flatten and then you’re off like a missile seeking again. So I have been practicing the belief that contentment exists only in acceptance or death -- the idea that in either you are free of wanting. And at the minute I am more down for acceptance than death. But I find myself in the back of my head sometimes begging for more minutes before I’ve even run out. I would take extra minutes just to read and eat breakfast in. And sit on a chair and see the earth move. It’s a funny thing I came to earth. I am happy I did but have questions

Summer TBR for next 3 months - June - July - August - Though this is ambitious for me, (size of Gone with the Wind alone LMAO) and I may have to push Wildwood to autumn. As long as it's read before the Laika film comes out! I recently finished an Edith Wharton not pictured (Summer) and am a couple hundred pages into East of Eden, though reading Ronia, The Robber's Daughter now

Somehow feel "The Passenger" and "Lonesome Dove" should be on here too for the burning months but realistically I can't read so much

Currently reading: Summer + Last three books I've bought

I'm thinking of signing up for a year long creative writing certificate - there are no formal classes, it just pairs you with a mentor who helps you see a draft of a project to the finish line. But I also want to prepare a grad school portfolio so not sure if that would be too many competing interests, considering I have a 9-5 and also freelance. Though maybe...I can just try it. I commit myself to the written word - both the practice of intake & output

Been working my full-time job for two months, but have been officially in the full-time workforce for the past 2 years and 2 months. There is nothing wrong but...... I'm ready to go back to art school. I did a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Cross-Disciplinary Arts: Publications and at the time all I wanted to do was finish school and get a job. Lol...! I'm grateful I landed this job when I did though. I'm going to pay off whatever I owe and then save every penny. I think I can save a lot before I go And am thinking of doing multiple applications to increase my chances Estonian Academy of the Arts (#1 choice) School of Arts in Ghent  Royal Institute of Art in Sweden & Experimental Publishing (XPUB) over in Rotterdam

If I get in, I'll be moving to Europe for two years in August of 2027! I've said this before but I mean in this time. I think it'll be really good for me in the long run, even if it's a lonely and hard experience, I have to follow my heart here - what else

I made a salty honey pie yesterday and am excited to have leftovers for breakfast tomorrow! Then for dinner I am going to make Mac and cheese, white cornbread, spinach, cabbage, plantain, sweet carrots, plant balls in BBQ sauce (oven). I basically have a lot of vegetables to use up, a lot of cheese, elbows in the pantry, and a bag of cornmeal. So putting all the vegetables next to cornbread and Mac seems literally the best and yummiest way to use all this. Then will share with the household

This weekend I have my nephew for 3 days while my sister flies to Miami with her friends. I'm excited to have him - on Friday we'll do bowling, pizza & the movies with my mom and her boyfriend. On Sunday we're going up to Greater Napanee with the rest of the family to stay the day and night in a beautiful artist's conference centre. We'll have dinner there and just mess around, maybe do some crafting. Then on Sunday I'll take him around Prince Edward County region for my idea of fun: ice cream (I want us to share a Banana Split but we'll see if he goes for it...Kids always want that superman flavour), antique store, Darlings pizza, (MISC), then back home to get him ready for bed and his school day. I'm a little nervous about spending 3 days without any substantial "Me Time" but realistically I have Me Time all the time and can do some time without it

Dedicating myself to collage and graphic art with my whole heart now. It's not my job - I work at a software company - but it's my vocation, it's the thing I see other people do well and immediately want to try my hand at copying - want to dive in and do better, always have. Officially applying to an MA program in Europe in February of 2027 so need to get serious about developing a body of work I respect and can stand behind. Oh dreaded excitment!!!

Planning to go cherry picking in July. Cannot forget about this

B-Day is coming up soon! 30! I rented a cabin for a week in Mayo, QC to celebrate. I'm really looking forward to it - my sister will be visiting, and my brother driving over from Montreal. It's nice. There is a dock, a lake, some leafy foliage, a BBQ. There is a nature reserve nearby. My goal is to read....and to sit and do nothing...
