William was in the back of the store with a clipboard in one hand and a granola bar in the other. He was going over some inventory while the store was dead that way when the store closed, he could hopefully leave right away. The man took a bite and looked towards his sister as he heard her come back from break. âFinally, felt like that break took forever. And for once, I didnât get slammed, Iâm shocked.â William said with a chuckle before setting his clipboard down and leaned back against the desk. âYouâre such a gossiper.â He said rolling his eyes and shaking his head. He loved it, though. âYou didnât miss much, honestly. Except, at one point there was guy sneaking around your piercing station.â He told her, shrugging. It didnât seem to interesting to Will but he figured his sister would like hearing about it. âIâm thinking about stopping at a store tomorrow morning to buy some locks for your drawers.â He told her.
"guilty." she nodded, not even a little bit trying to deny that accusation. she liked gossiping, she liked hearing about interesting things that happened. nothing interesting ever happened to her, anyway.
"ew, who?" she wasn't overly prideful of her work, it was average at best. but she sure didn't like people messing with her workspace. even william, sometimes, wasn't allowed to move her drawers. "I'll pay you back if you do. creepy."
âAgreed. The pink is super cute. We should get matching ones,â she told Harper with a wiggle of her eyebrows. âright? i mean it feels sort of like itâs my civic duty. like thatâs a major red flag for me right there. and i mean she could stay with him but i doubt it. oh my god could i really break a couple up? that feels like too much power and i hate that i like it,â alma added with a growing grin. âthey do, yeah, theyâre nightowls for sure. i can never tell if theyâre breaking night or just going out early. anyway, you enable me too easily itâs a weakness. but donât deflect my answer. tell me about your day, i want to hear about the super crazy cool world of claireâs,â they joked. âwhat time are you off today?â
"it's the kind thing. you can't leave her with some wastoid, you know? you're doing a good deed." and it was exactly the kind of juicy good deed the pair of them loved. it was why they got on so well, truly.
"I'm not, I'm not!" she flicked water up at them with her hands, childish in her attempts to ward off the pestering. "alright, I'll go. it's been interesting, but not homewrecker interesting." although that probably wasn't the right word for this. "three girls almost tore each other to bits over a jacket, this morning. had to say it wasn't for sale, at the end of it. ugh." it had been cute, but... not friendship ending cute. although she absolutely remembered the energy that could drive a child to think so.
"i'm off at four. you?" their schedules rarely alligned, but it was golden when they did.
âOkay but those new jelly like scrunchies you guys have on sale right now are kind of majorly cute.â Alma sat on the edge of one of the sinks as she spoke to Harper, grateful for a brief break in between shifts and a chance to catch up with her friend. âDo you remember the shitty tipper I mentioned to you last week? He came back today, with his girlfriend and turns our sheâs a great tipper. I had half the mind to tell her that her boyfriend is a dick. Would that be wrong?â They shrugged as they thought about it. âAnyway, howâs your day going so far?â @clerksworks
âI wasnât sold on the neon green, but the pink⌠hella cute.â Harper nodded, stepping over to wash her hands. sheâd seen Alma on her way in, and was glad that her friend had waited up on her. literally, it seemed, considering where sheâd perched herself.
the theatrical gasp that erupted from Harper was accidental, but appropriate. âoh no. that poor girl!â she considered the question as she washed her hands, thinking over the situation. âI mean⌠she could do better, right? itâs only responsible⌠isnât it?â her eyes were alight with mischief, of course she was going to encourage stirring the pot.
âdo they come in near end of shift? break, maybe?â

"back from break!" Harper said, poking her head into the back room. She hadn't seen her brother out with customers, which made sense because Claire's was a bit dead at the moment. so of course he'd be back here, and she was about to join him. "anything interesting happen? you have to tell me everything." Harper leaned against the wall, fixing him with a vaguely interested look. there wasn't always a story, but boy did she like it when there was.
