Snowball hopped off her shoulder and zipped about Genji, excited at a question regarding him. Mei replied in his place, “No, I do not. Snowball is one of a kind--I needed a lot of help to make him. Why do you ask?”

     Well … that went far worse than expected.  Junkrat couldn’t help but let out an obnoxious laugh– was it nervous?  Ironic?  It’s hard to tell with him– all that could be said is that he had a tendency to laugh at the most inappropriate of times.

     ❛What an awful place to put an ice wall, ❜he commented with amusement.  Really, things couldn’t have gone worse for them, but he didn’t seem all that worried.

     Jamison followed without protest as he was guided along, and with a wicked grin, lobbed a small bomb over his shoulder.  He didn’t see the event unfold, but he could hear some startled yells followed by an explosion and someone screaming MYYY AAARM!

     Naturally, this caused Jamison to cackled more so.

     Still, he and Mei weren’t moving as fast as they could have been: but Junkrat knew how to rectify that.      ❛Hang on tight, twinkle-toes! ❜he exclaimed, leaning down and wrapping a gangly arm around Mei’s waist.  He didn’t leave that much time for her to prepare herself before tossing a concussion mine about a foot in front of them … Yes.  Using the mine, he was going to launch them onto the roof of the closest building to help escape.

His obnoxious laughter did nothing to settle her anger. They could be stopping the payload right now if not for his mistake. Now, they needed to hurry to a more advantageous spot--higher ground, maybe? It seemed that Jamison had a similar thought, because he gave her the briefest warning before launching them into the air.

     The boom of the explosion under her feet almost made her drop everything. There was one, coherent moment where she noticed his arm was around her and she was ascending before her heart skipped a beat and she truly processed what was happening.

          “ 啊呀我的妈呀 !!! ”

     The yell burst past her lips on her way up, and its syllables trailed while they remained in the air. She clung to her endothermic blaster and his spindly arm for dear life, the ground growing more and more distant. Luckily, she couldn’t really tell what she was seeing below her, likely because they were getting further away from anything definable and she was now falling too fast to see anything beyond a blur.

     It goes without saying that the landing hurt. ( Not everyone had an artificial leg to land on after a huge fall. ) After catching her breath and scrambling to her feet, she turned to the maniac before her, her voice coming out high and shrill, “You! Are you wild? That was horrible! You--” She paused, realizing she had to squint to get a good look at his face. “My glasses--they’re gone!”

     Save for bird waste and the occasional touch of cement damage, the roof around them was clean. Fearing for the worst, she peeked over the edge of the building and was rightfully pessimistic. Even with her impaired vision, she could identify the small, black mass at the very bottom to be her glasses.

     Exhausted, she fell to her knees and ran a gloved hand through her hair. Even though she didn’t trust his judgment ( especially after what he just did ), there was no other option for her. She was going to need his help to get through this conundrum. She mumbled to Jamison, “W-What do we do?”

“It’s good to see you, luv!”

It was always good to see a familiar face and Mei was unique among most of the former staff of Overwatch as an inspiring figure. She’d been the paragon of what she’d envisioned scientists to be and, now, she kept living up to that status. It made Tracer happy to see her, even if, in the heat of Gibraltar, she had to question her attire.

“Ain’t it a bit warm for all that ‘ere? Don’t think you copping 'eat stroke while frozen would be a good move.”

"I’m glad to see you well, Tracer!” Mei greeted. Lena’s heroism was one of the first things Mei caught up on after being unfrozen. Seeing someone try so hard to do good in this world was something she appreciated greatly. Not only that, but the chronal accelerator was fascinating to Mei and a delight to read up on. Winston did an amazing job on it. 

     “I’m fine!” The scientist insisted, though the heat was getting to her just a little bit. “I need to be prepared to freeze in case of an emergency” In the current state of the world, nowhere was safe--especially not Winston’s lab. “It’s been awhile since I’ve been here. It’s... very dusty.”

“You got it! That’s me!” Her statement was preceded with an excited giggle. It tickled her to know that Lucio not only knew who she was, but framed her reputation so delicately. Climatologist, she always thought, had a better ring than sole survivor. “My research is going slowly right now, but those animal ‘friends’ help me a lot. I won’t give up!”

     “I sometimes wish that my work had the same spread as yours.” She admitted steadily. “...Sadly, my voice is not as great as yours.”

     She held out a handful to him. Never mind sweethearts were more of a Valentine’s Day candy, with all kinds of affectionate messages printed on them in tiny font. To be fair, Halloween was not a Chinese holiday, and candy was candy in Mei’s eyes. She simply figured she could put aside her differences with who she construed to be a bully for a holiday’s sake.

Mei doesn’t listen to music like this very often, preferring to stick to instrumental songs while working in the lab. She wasn’t even certain what genre most music fell into. Switching to a song of her own, she passed his headphones back to him.
