I made a graphic (infographic?) about the gentrification of Manhattan Chinatown. I think a lot of people who don’t live there aren’t aware of it (I wasn’t until recently), or it feels less visible than gentrification in other neighborhoods, but it’s there.
ALL of the information, statistics, research, and quotations are from the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund’s report, Chinatown: Then and Now. Other image credits are in the graphic. I am NOT affiliated with AALDEF in any way, so if I misrepresented any of the information in the report, that’s on me, not them (but I tried to avoid that).
Nonetheless, I hope it’s informational for someone out there!
And I don’t have the solutions to this problem, but the AALDEF report does propose some, so if you’re wondering about that, go read it!
