Many misleading tropes about bisexual women, such as that they’re confused, deceptive or sexually voracious, were on full display.

Toni Morrison, a Nobel Laurete, an icon of the literary world, and an elder in the womanisn movement has died at the age of 88. Born Chloe Ardelia Wofford, Morrison was an unfailing leader in the push for Black women narratives and wrote such classics as Song of Solomon, Sula, and Beloved, the latter of which earned her a Pulitzer Prize. Much can be said about the transformative power of her works, but I’d rather leave you with her own words right now:
“You can’t fly with regrets of yesterdays on your wings.
You can’t fly if you’re still in love with that ex that’s bad for you. Give that shit up!
You can’t fly if you’re afraid of standing up and taking power. Give that shit up!
You can’t fly if you’re spending the time you should be using to fly on other less important things. Give that shit up!
Focus on flying, if you wanna to fly. Because if you really wanna fly, nothing should be able to stop you. And if you’re not flying, realize something is. And lose that shit!”
Rest in Power, Toni Morrison. Thank you for the gift of your words and the beauty of your life.
If you haven’t heard there is a literal massacre going on in Sudan.
People are getting kidnapped, arrested, raped and killed. This has been going on for a few days now but naturally there’s hardly any media coverage.
THE WORLD CARES MORE ABOUT AN EMPTY CHURCH IN FRANCE THAN HUNDREDS OF INNOCENT BLACK MUSLIMS DYING IN SUDAN.
There are a few ways to help:
- Emergency Medical Aid Donation
- Facebook campaign raising funds for food and other necessities
- International Rescue Committee
- Save The Children
Even if you can’t donate please help spread the news!!

D&D have done many things wrong, but Daenerys’ arc ain’t one of them.
You guys just didn’t pay attention.
hey, buds
you can plant “evidence” in season 1 and STILL write a piss-poor “descent into madness” arc
just because d&d left tentative clues in past seasons - always couched safely in a glow of triumphalism and “dany is not like other targs” - does not mean they handled this arc well
remember melisandre’s line to arya about “green eyes, blue eyes, brown eyes”? yeah, they admitted they shot that in S4 without any forethought that they’d have arya kill the NK, they got lucky. in fact they went like “how about we use this, since we already said it”? aka random storytelling.
the same applies to dany’s journey. they were never sure what to do with her, they were never comfortable with making her accountable for her actions in Essos. hell, d&d have interviews from season 5 where they argue why dany is different from her father and brother and why that makes her special. if you want to write a decent antihero/villain you need to DO MORE, you need to dip your toe into moral ambiguity, which they rarely did (see also the whitewashing of tyrion)
d&d wanted to have their cake (strong, inspiring “breaker of chains”) and eat it too (emotional crazy lady) without showing the proper transition because they wanted to cling to dany’s brand of Grl Power for as long as they could.
the problem never was dark dany or the audience not noticing her “descent” but that this journey was telegraphed at best and not enough time was given to one of the goddamn protagonists of the series. in the books, dany’s actions bear more weight, she is less palatable, less likeable, and yet so much more painfully human and understandable. on the show she is rendered ridiculous. in fact, d&d and some of the clowns on this website have gone out of their way to “mock” the audience for being invested in her. in the books, dany will have to contend with so many more adversaries, including Young Griff, another pretender to the throne. the fight will be so much more complex than her simply burning KL. think of shireen baratheon’s burning, think of how quick and empty that was, how easily stannis was persuaded, how hollow and unearned that felt. this is the same thing, and we know the books will do better.
as an addendum, you can be a sansa stark stan - because i have noticed it’s these folks who are the most Smug about it - and still acknowledge bad writing when it hits you in the face. all the female characters on this show have suffered from it. your fave is not exempt.
#and these sansa fans acting like…smug? like sansa’s story and character hasnt been a shit fest afterthought to these men? #you’re just glad her ‘rival’ dany got worse writing?? stupid (via @alayne-stonecoldfox)
Yeah, I’m sorry to say that Sansa didn’t win any contests. She’s also now what all of her haters have said she was, a manipulative backstabber who would sell Jon out if it meant the furtherance of her own power. It might be more subtle, but Sansa is now a villain just like Daenerys and I say this as a huge Sansa fan.
Yeah, I was also pretty disgusted with the way she tried to get Jon on the throne to keep a (book-canonically) tyrannical invader out of power, the malicious way she worked to make allies and earn their respect, how she selfishly created food lines and offered shelter to peasants. Who does this brat think she is? A good ruler?
Every character got shitty writing. Some far worse than others. But Daenerys arc was definitely leading up to this and though rushed, she ended up becoming exactly what she was meant to be.
People who predicted Dark!Dany were literally bullied and cut off from the fandom by these people now accusing us to be smug. Where the hell was this maturity when death threats were being sent by anons and when no one could make a dark dany post even with the ‘correct tags’ withoit someone from your side calling us delusional and mentally retarted? Yeah sure we’re smug but at least most of this side of the fandom knows the difference between people and fictional characters so don’t start preaching now.
Could it have been done better? Sure. I haven’t seen a lot of people denying that . Did they try to capitalize on her image? Sure too. Did they brush off or cut some of her less « heroic » acts ? Sure again.
But even when presented with evidences, even when some people pointed out how terrible what she was doing was, stans were still trying to deny or justify everything and that’s ON THEM.
I remember vividly when she burned the food train and the Tarlys (yes the father was a douchebag but that’s not the point). That wasn’t meant to make her look good at all. We had Tyrion giving her alternatives. They weren’t some nameless villains. That wasn’t justified war or not, they had surrendered . And still even with that, even when told about it, all there was (and still is btw) from a huge part of the fandom was justications, excuses, « that’s normal behavior in war », blindness and « they deserved it anyway I’m not gonna cry for them » .
So yeah the people who were telling you she wasn’t good news can be smug about it .
Why are we silent???
you’re the lady of winterfell, you deserve it. we’re standing here because of you. the battle was lost until the knights of the vale rode in. they came because of you.
the longer i leave my enemies alone, the stronger they become.
- All men fear death. - No, not death. I fear I never again see Missandei from the Island of Naath.
yall better be just as outraged about this as you were about notre dame
This is even WORSE.
To elaborate why this is worse: Art and religion are all well and good. But information can be critical. When libraries burn, information can be lost forever. Because we photograph art. We have blueprints of the Cathedral. The Notre Dame cathedral did not burn to the ground, only the wooden structures did. The entire library and everything within is gone here. Another reason this is worse? It was DELIBERATE. It was bombed. Accidents like Notre Dame happen all the time. But bombings don’t have to happen. So yeah, if you cared about Notre Dame, logically you should care about this too,
Every time a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land.
female awesome meme: 3/3 female characters who deserved better ♡ missandei “The little scribe with the big golden eyes was wise beyond her years. She is brave as well. She had to be, to survive the life she’s lived.”
Danarys: I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to erase his identity, live a lie and shut out his family so we can be together
When Daenerys takes her throne there will be no place for us here. I am loyal to my queen. I will fight for her until her enemies are defeated, but when the war is over and she has won…
