emily is daniel and benjamin's little sister , someone that ben is very protective of and would do anything to make sure she's happy. (yes, she is my oc and i think ben would put her first before himself . . . he would for anyone. he'd use his body as a shield, considering his new form)

amused  suspicion  in  blue  eyes  as  she  takes  the  sandwich,  holding  it  up  like  it  might  be  secretly  bugged.  “ so  let  me  get  this  straight  .  .  .  brisket,  flattery,  and  a  robot  butler  with  table  manners? ”  she  quirks  a  brow,  tone  teasing.  “ grimm,  are  you  trying  to  seduce  me  or  distract  me?  because  fair  warning  .  .  .  i  can  multitask. ”  she  takes  a  bite,   eyes  immediately  rolling  back  in  exaggerated  bliss.  “ okay,  you  win  this  round,  big  guy  .  .  .  but  don’t  think  this  means  i’m  going  easy  on  you  once  the  questions  start. ”

“ come on now miss lane, ” sure he's buttering her up and her true nature still lays it down that she won't go easy but her personality was refreshing in a good way. bantering with her was different , it wasn't restricting or uncomfortable for ben to be himself around her. still that small city guy who grew up on yancy street with his family.

“ eat first , than we can talk. ” handing her a napkin , he takes a seat . . . bit of distance for her own personal space. “ i won't distract ya but can't let you go home empty handed, aside from the story, ” pot brews , aroma filters through . . . johnny was already hovering over lid. “ go ahead and ask your first question. ”

as if on command upon hearing her name, clark's mouth spreads into a bright grin. " the very one. " he tells ben proudly, a single fingergun pointed his way —  dorky, but sincere. impossibly clark. " she's the best of the best, i'm lucky to . . . " almost letting a bigger truth slip there. hold your horses, clark. " get to have her covering me. "

noticing the shift in the air and in the other's demeanor, clark's grin turns to a solemn smile —  empathetic to the last. " i don't think that's quite right. " clark takes a step closer to him, eyes holding his steadily. " whatever way you slice it, you're a hero, ben. strong as a rock, reliable, and brave. you've made the name your own. when i think of the thing, i think of a thing of wonder because you've made it so. " finally, he lays a hand upon ben's shoulder, giving it a firm squeeze. " in my book, you are also the best of the best. i hope you know that. "

“ nice lady, ” pushing the bill of his hat up , if his ears were even visible , ben felt like he caught wind of something but he nods. “ think we spoke briefly, didn't bat an eye at my appearance. tell er if she wants to visit the baxter building , she can interview us sometime. ” he wasn't fond of many reporters, leaving that to sue . . . the voice.

it's hard to think otherwise, stuck in his own head . . . looking at himself in the mirror. who would love a thing like him ? everything's changed . . . but he's still the same person inside. it's taken sometime for the people of earth to recognize ben grimm as a hero , rather than a monster. children no longer scream , more like a circus act . . . cheers or rather , lift it lift it lift it !

“ it's taken sometime to get use to it, ” waking up , seeing himself in the mirror , unrecognizable. reed promises , repeats . . . beats himself up for it and ben couldn't let it bring him down for long. i'll always be by your side , reed . . . i ain't leaving ---- heartfelt , turning things around. “ says wonder curls, ” he joked, before acknowledging his sincerity “ yeah, well . . . means a lot blue. you definitely give folks hope. ”

“ buds don't laugh at yer misery pal, ” reed felt guilty for how the radiation affected him and was still trying to find a way to turn back to normal . . . even for one day, ben wanted to see his face. slowly , he sits back down before taking the fork. he doesn't resort to jabbing his food , showing that much respect to his meal. he takes a bite , chewing carefully . . . giving the frantic other time to think about his words wisely.

“ it almost didn't end well for sue but we're alright, ” taking glass in hand , ben finishes his drink. “ switch universes ? what for ? why'd you come back ? ”

legs crossed , ben waited for the bottle to land on him . . . questions about his appearance or how he felt were usually the topic. however , he was comfortable in the fact that they held it at the baxter building so if needed . . . ben could easily excuse himself.
