Bruce presses the back of his hand to his lip, feeling the cut sting in response. He should get some ice. Make sure the swelling isnât so bad tomorrow that a teacher will feel required to ask. But he doesnât want to get up. Itâs cool there in the shade of the bell tower, even as the cicadas scream in the warm weather. Thereâs a peace to it.
A peace that is ruined by someone dropping to the ground next to him. Danny Masters. Heâs a grade above than Bruce, but by age he should be two. Bruce has never spoken to the other boy before, but memorizing the student body at a place like this was easy. Danny stretches his long legs out in the grass before he holds out a plastic glove full of ice.
Bruce eyes it warily.
Danny shrugs. âCouldnât find a plastic bag.â
Bruce doesnât say anything.
âLook, I get it.â
Bruce scoffs. As if someoneâ
âI killed my parents too.â
âoh.
âNot just them. My sister. My best friends. Theyâre all dead because of me.â
Bruce stays quiet, but he takes glove full of ice and presses it hard against his lip. He ignores the way Danny is looking at him. Danny just hums. The sound mixes with the cicada calls.
Okay so I didn't follow this prompt exactly, but the "I killed my parents" "Me too" scene was stuck in my head and also Clocky's SicklyDanny from Danny in Metropolis kinda lives rent free in my head, sooooo
oops I had brain worms and my hand slipped: First and Final Kiss
Good luck on your chemise! I hope you were forgiving with your measurements because thereâs little more irritating than having to unpin the sides to add gussets lmao (is a good opportunity to add a centre panel of fun material for more chest room tho)
Bold of you to assume that I didnt just jump right in to ripping and sewing lol
I think I'm going to end up sewing a yoke of sorts just to make it all lay a little better, since there are no sleeves. I was going with gathered straps at first but that was so much bulk up there.
But it was a body image struggle bus tonight, so I'm going to start fresh tomorrow with my new plan!
@mikosflame
Danny/Bruce, Key, âTake your aim, fire away... shoot me down, but I won't fall, I am titaniumâ
BANG!
A red flag emboldened with the word pops out the end of the gun.
The whole room seems to sag with an exhale of relief. But Bruce doesnât. He still strains against the goons who are holding him back.
The Joker just shrugs, gun dangling limp from his fingers. âAh, well, looks like all I have with me is a joke!â His face twisted into an awful sneer. âProblem is, doesnât seem anyone is laughing!â He turns, a dramatic pivot that leaves his back to Danny.
Please, please, please, let him be done with Danny, Bruce silently pleads.
Thereâs a moment where he thinks it works.
Then the Joker snaps his fingers. The goons on either side of him raise their pistols. Danny jerks as a bullet hits his chest. The second bullet jerks him the other way. He curls in on himself, body bowed for a moment. But then he sweeps his hair back as he stands up straight. Thereâs a devil-may-care smirk on his lips. Itâs the smile that Bruce fell for.
The Joker twists back with a growl. âUnload, boys!â
Bang-bang-bangâten more shots ring out.
Danny jerks back with each of the shots, but thereâs no blood. No wet red staining the new suit that he had let Bruce buy him. The pistols empty into Danny, but he doesnât bleed.
The room holds its breath.
Danny shakes out his sleeves. Twelve bullet shells clink against the marble floor. He straightens his tie purposefully, and then in a flash has surged forward and socked the Joker.
He crumples to the floor in a pile of purple and green.
The goons pause and then run for it.
Danny is at Bruceâs side, holding his face as he searches for any damage. âAre you okay?â
âI think thatâs my line,â Bruce says, his voice a desperate rasp. He presses his finger through a bullet hole in Dannyâs suit. His finger meets flesh, whole and unblemished. ââŠhow?â
Danny shrugs and smiles, a nervous thing that Bruce wants to sooth away with a kiss, so he does.
Feel like informing you that because of Danny's stance in City Pigeons, I've started eating my muffins upside down. And I must admit, he's right. The top(pings) is the best part and saving it for last is a legitimately better experience. My banana nut muffins no longer have a disappointing lack of nuts in the final bites.
Right??
The top is the best part! Might as well save it for last! Also it makes sure if it's one of those dry muffins you end with a less dry part. Do be ready for people to look at you as if you're weird, but, like, there are so many reasons people look at me like I'm weird aside from that.

Danny/Dick, Key, "And then I said goodbye or she'll break my heart'
âDick, no,â Wally hissed.
âDick, yes.â
All of them turned to look at Raven in surprise. She just shrugged and gestured towards the new hero, Phantom. He was talking with Specter. She said something that made him throw his head back in laughter. It showed off his sharp teeth spectacularly.
âSomeone needs to⊠what was the phrase for it?â Raven asked, head tilted. âAh, âhit thatâ.â
âRaven,â Wally gasped, aghast.
She gestured again at Phantom. His his drifted away like smoke and his legs were less than solid. He felt like storm about to break.
âYeah, no, Iâm with Raven,â Gar said. His chin was perched on his hand as he watched Phantom with what was basically heart eyes. âUnless heâs into sharing?â
âOh come on, you have to at least let me shoot my shot!â Dick whined. âYou two already have your whole eldritch thing. Leave some for the rest of us.â
âDick, no,â Wally said, again. âIâm just trying to keep you in one piece.â
Dick pressed his hands together with a little gesture. âCounterpoint: he makes falling apart seem so good.â
Wally just sighed and dropped his head onto the table with a thunk.
This was a longer typeset and the author is on here too @clockwayswrites . Not my longest but definately a longer amount of time. This was one of the covers and additional pages I made back in the middle of last year before I screen recorded and timed what I was making. Looking at canva version history (not reliable or great if bouncing about on the computer with the tab open) and knowing myself I would guesstimate at about 1 hour being spent on the covers and around 1 hour & half on the additional pages (probably more if I am being honest). The typeset for this was also quite a long and hot - heatwave :(. The typeset took me about 5 hours to complete. In total, all together the diigital side of this bind took me about 7 hours & 30 minutes to complete.

Phantom/Red Hood (Danny/Jason), Cyan, âLove me, hate me, but you will never know me.â
I've always said I'd warn you if something doesn't have a happy ending so, uh, cw: major character death, blood
âCome on, stay with me!â Jason bites the order out and pressed down harder on the wound thatâs oozing green. Itâs not warm, not like blood, but Jason knows thatâs what it is all the same. If you hold enough people as they die, know how what blood feels like, and Jason has held himself as he died.
The green stains Phantomâs teeth as he grins. He doesnât cough, maybe just because thereâs no lungs for the blood to seep into. Phantom has never seemed breathless before; not after a fight or a screaming match or when Jason has pressed Phantom against an alleyway wall and kissed him senseless. (Not when Jason took Phantom to a safehouse that he burned the next day and fucked Phantom senseless.)
But now after being hit with those things that werenât guns from the people in hazmat and white suits Phantom feel breathless.
âI said stay with me!â
âSorry,â Phantom whispers. âHad more than my time living. I always knew Mom would be the one who does it, gets the shots in, you know? Hella a shotâŠâ
His mother? What did⊠the smaller figure in the hazmat was Phantomâs mother? Jasonâhe shouldnât be allowed to be surprised. His own mother sold him to Joker. Watched him be beat to death. Jason tightens his grip on Phantom. Blood oozes through his fingers. Phantomâs form starts to break apart.
Itâs not like itâs when Phantom goes intangible purposefully. Itâs⊠heâs breaking apart.
âStay with me,â Jason chokes out.
Stay with me.
Let me know you, learn you, love you.
âI hate you! You fucking bastard justââ
âSorry.â
âPlease.â
The blood is thick against Jasonâs fingers even after Phantom is gone.
masterpost, I am... so migrained. pls no editing, I know there are issue
Danny is pacing like heâs a Speedster. Every so often his eyes dart to the tube that the other him is in. Bart winces even as he think of the person in the tank like that. Itâs not fair, not to Danny or to this⊠this Phantom.
But Bart still keeps himself between Phantom and Danny.
Thatâs also not fair.
Bart just⊠Dannyâs upset, and Bart hates that. He hates that Phantom makes Danny upset. He hates Phantom, even though he shouldnât. Bart lets out a breath and tries to let go of his hate too. It will just make him feel bad if he keeps it all inside, like none of his insides can sit still even when heâs not moving. Bart wraps his arms around his stomach. .
Phantom tilts his head, his white hair floats with the motion. Heâs watching Bart.
âSorry, handsome, but this is too much science for me,â Constantine is saying to Bruce where they are looking over the consoles nearest the tank.
âHn.â Bruce grunts back. âWeâll bring Robin in. He studied cloning after Superboy.â
âThe Yetiâs,â Danny says. Itâs the first thing itâs said since seeing Phantom. âUm, one of the yetiâs might be part of their science staff. Their leader was my doctor.â
Constantine smacks his palms against his thighs. âWell, I better go talk to them all then. Do you want to come with?â He asks, eying Danny.
Danny looks from Constantine to Phantom to Bart. âIâŠâ
âIâll come,â Bart promises, holding his hand out.
Danny takes it and doesnât let go, not even as they enter underground parking garage. Itâs dim down there. It feels dimmer still after the blinding white of the rest of the facility. Down there in the concrete things suddenly feel more grungy. More real.
The ghosts linger through the space. Some are up in the cross beams, tucked away into nothing but glowing eyes. Some drift, listlessly, through the space. Others group together down at the floor, seemingly alive but for their translucency. Itâs these groups that react when Danny walks in.
âPhantomâ the ghosts whisper, the word coming from everywhere and nowhere. One of the yeti rise. They seem smaller than most of the others, but hold themselves strongly. Thereâs only a faint tremor that gives away the strain of they have been through.
âPhantom,â they say with a slight tip of their head. âI am glad to see that you remain. There was a time when I thought that they had tested you too far.â
âThatâs not⊠Iâm notâŠâ Danny takes in a deep breath and lets it out. âIâm not who youâve been feeling. They broke it. They broke it and they took it.â Dannyâs voice hisses like the ghostsâ.
Bart doesnât let go of his hand.
The yeti reaches out, like they want to touch, but they donât move closer. âIs itâŠ?â
Danny shrugs even as he shakes his head. Bart swears he can feel Dannyâs confusion and grief swirling in the air. Dannyâs free hand clutches at his chest. âTheyâitâsâthey healed⊠or filled in⊠Thereâs another Phantom. No. The core is Phantom. I donât⊠I donât know who I am.â
The yetiâs eyes flicks to Bart and Constantine before they step forward. Their large hand was careful as they tilt Dannyâs chin up. âYou are still our Phantom, even if there is a new neverborn.â
Dannyâs eyes were wet with tears that he swallow back. âIâm not whole.â
âWe will see you to Frostbite; you will heal,â the yeti says confidently.
âIâll be different,â Danny says like that was a warning enough to take back the gentle offer.
They yeti just smiles. âYou are a half. You are different every time that we meet, that is not new. We will see you to Frostbit. You will heal.â
The tears finally spill free. Danny struggles to hold back a sob as both him and Bart are pulled forward into the yetiâs arms. Bart is mostly through the yeti, but Danny is held tight like the ghost is a solid thing. Danny lets go and cries.
Okay okay. I think I finally have a proper draft of my letter of application written. (My first draft was absolutely a proposal for my dissertation, not a letter of interest.) I'm still waiting on my reference letters so maybe my mind can breathe now and let me write other stuff. Of course more weather rolling in May spite that.
Getting some words today. Slow words, but words. Have a tidbit:
âPhantomâ the ghosts whisper, the word coming from everywhere and nowhere.
